NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown.

He certainly could be out of the country by now. I understand that he stayed in a hostel that overseas visitors often stay at, but I'm surprised people are saying that he seems foreign by his looks. NYC is wildly diverse -- no one talks about people looking "foreign". JMO.

From the link:

"Security at Paulette's home told police ... a female in a Jeep Renegade put something in her mailbox, about 15 minutes before officers arrived at the scene. Security saw the Jeep had an Illinois license plate and stated the content of the object in the mailbox "appeared to be an envelope the size of a cell phone." Police used a K-9 to check the mailbox but did not find anything inside."

This is getting stranger and stranger! Who would do something like this?

A get away on a bike? That sounds a bit odd. You'd think hop on a subway, keep changing your appearance and lines, poof you're gone amidst rush hour. Idk, but it was planned out that's for sure and the killer was a good shot.
The post you are quoting of mine is from yesterday. Lots of speculation and brainstorming and fact gathering has happened since then. If you pull up this post tomorrow, I might have another whole set of theories.

I’m thinking more along the lines that Thompson’s phone was hacked and Thompson was in communication with his assistance planning to get to the conference early to set things up. He may have texted his assistant when he was leaving his hotel to meet his assistant there.

These insurance companies have scammed a lot of hard working people out of money for health care.

Theres a lot of anger towards those perceived as being responsible for these shady actions.

People are getting fed up.

Theres zero excuse for violence tho. Im just trying to give perspective

I guess my point is why would she put something in their mailbox knowing all eyes are on them right now? At least it turned out to be nothing.

Ok, so someone please tell me why the CEO of a company heading to an investors conference, isn't waling into the Hilton with a briefcase. That is just weird. Which begs the question, did someone steal his laptop and phone? One could make the case that a man making 10 million a year, which is what his compensation was, that there could be scenarios where someone, perhaps a lover etc, was extorting him and/or scamming him. They would have to get rid of him and his devices if let's say, BT was about to to the FBI. Or, the perp found out the jig was about to be up. I can't get past the part where the CEO is walking in without ANYTHING

I don't think that you're going to find a lot of "notations of people dying due to insurance claim denial" for several reasons, one of them being that not many people want to, or are able to, go to court against an insurance company's sharks who are on retainer for millions, for defamation. Etc. (Also, it doesn't have to happen that a company denies a life-saving drug and the patient dies a month later, directly due to not having the drug. The point is, very, very, many people have their lives wrecked by delays and denials in the insurance industry. In my book, your doctor -the person who is actually educated and trained to provide medical care, isn't the one giving it- it's the CEO of abcinsurer who got an MBA at Harvard, and the others in the pharmaceutical-insurance-federal complex.)

These companies are hugely powerful and profit-driven. I recently read here about someone seeing "hundreds" of complaints online about UNC. Hundreds? Millions would likely be more accurate. The hatred people feel at these ginormous insurance companies is palpable. And UHC is on the top of the heap for being the target of it. (With good reason, IMO.)

Another person here pointed out how awful it is to rage at the poor employee on the other end of the phone and it is. But, WHO does one rage at? Do you think Brian Thompson is going to answer the phone? Can you talk to a live person and get any individually-oriented response to your individual problem at your insurance company? I can't. I'm lucky if the Chat-bot isn't too busy to take my call.

All of this is to say that no one should have gunned down Mr. Thompson on the street. However, there is rage. Absolute rage, and rightly so, at the handful of elites who control the lives of tiny, powerless, often elderly and sick people, all the while ensconced in their cushy lives, with their millions and billions.
There is no excuse for lying in wait and assassinating Brian Thompson for whatever rage or grievances - personal or otherwise - that this sick and evil person harbored for whatever reason.

BT is the victim here, and the loss of his life is a great tragedy. He was only 50 years old and his life was taken from him, and taken from his two children, wife, and others who loved him.

I understand that we, at WS, are looking for a motive, but nothing excuses this despicable, cowardly act - regardless of the assassin's personal pain or ideological or social rage. I hope that there is justice for Brian Thompson and for his sons, wife, family and friends.

So, he was shot and killed and then a bomb threat was phoned into his personal home (though nothing was found).
They went to his estranged wife's home and security informed them that a female had put something in the mail box at roughly the same time as the bomb threat? Am I understanding this correctly?
BT is already dead at this point. This is strange.

He was speaking at the event and didn’t need his laptop. IR events are very presentation focused, an exec wouldn’t need to be working from a computer

My guess is he had phone and wallet in his pocket.

I have the opposite impression. Looks like a power move to me.

His know-how is in his brain and he shows that in his demeanor. All he needs is himself.

However, would be good to know if he normally carries a briefcase.
