Chilling footage revealed the assassin who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was on the phone to someone minutes before he opened fire.
The gunman was seen on surveillance footage loitering around Manhattan's Hilton Hotel at 6:30am on the phone, around 175 feet from where he killed Thompson at 6:45am Wednesday.

I'm interested in the person(s) the shooter was in contact with ?
How did he know Brian would be on foot and at what time.
Lots of questions.

Surprised they haven't caught him yet.

I might be reading way too much into this, but the casual actions of dropping items makes me skittish.

Is he so clumsy to accidentally forget items, even though we see him incredibly composed with the jammed gun and calm demeanor during the shooting? Is he cavalier, thinking he won't be caught no matter what he drops? Is it disregard in general, just leaving trash because he thinks the world around him is trash anyway? Or does he consider cleaning trash not his job - he's there to kill, not to care about water bottles and snack packaging.

Calm, cool, early-riser, fancy backpack guy...but drops wrappers?

Could be nothing but a dumb criminal, I know.

Unless the water bottle and phone were dropped intentionally a la cinema plot to throw the authorities off. Which is a BIG stretch! LOL Most likely it was someone with military training that was clumsy because they were somehow juiced from the killing.

That’s a very solid point and likely just one of the many reasons NYPD is taking this crime so seriously. I worked in a customer service call center for Blue Cross Blue Shield for three years. It was a very difficult job because I had to listen to angry clients yell and berate me for 8 hours a day. I hated it so much that I would cry getting ready for work, but I couldn’t afford to quit because this was at the height of the recession. Callers threatened me all the time — even though I was a mere customer service rep who had no control over whether a medical service was covered. It wasn’t just patients either. Medical facilities that were denied payment also joined in on the “you people are so [fill in the expletive + unflattering adjective]” fun. Bomb threats were not an uncommon occurrence. It was company policy that we could only give callers our first name and our employee ID, and that policy existed for good reason. If this is a disgruntled UnitedHealthcare client, I pray to everything that is holy that he doesn’t have a list.
I also worked for a very large insurance company and had my life threatened along with others for denial of services. The person tracked us to our offices and threatened us by name. I worked in utilization review and denials/responses went out to subscribers with our names. I left the company soon after. The threats are real.

United Healthcare has a corporate jet. That's probably how he flew to NYC.

My husband gets to go on his company's sometimes with his boss and the CEO just calls and books it, they pick a time, then they decide they want to grab coffee and take one more phone call and then the flight takes off an hour late, or his boss is itching to go and they push it up an hour. Even I can't keep track of when the plane is coming or going.

I'm just saying it would be really hard for a random hitman to track the CEO on his corporate jet to the private airport where he lands (which has heavy security - you can't ride your E-bike in) and then follow him to his hotel to figure out where he is staying :)

If he had no insider knowledge he would assume the CEO was staying at the Hilton, where the conference was taking place.

I just suspect there is a very personal love angle to this hit, considering the fact the hitman knew that he was staying in another hotel and what time to expect him to walk over.
You'd be surprised. All he needs is the tail number. Rabid Taylor Swift fans have been known to track her whereabouts.

Do you know how open these meetings are? For example, could somebody request a entry ticket by claiming to represent an investment institution?

If so, I wonder what scrutiny the hosting company would give such a request?

- A "Show us you are serious by giving us more information as to who you are" route to weed out potential protestors making disruptions, security threats etc.

- A "Cover letter looks plausible, never had protestor problems, we need cash, here is a ticket" approach.
This event is an Investor Relations event, and generally these are by invite only. They have their list of big institutional investors and financial firms that they invite. Company participants are typically executives, hence BT presenting as I understand.

Typically, you need to check in and get a badge, and security is set up at the event to ensure that only badge holders are attending. I worked at an event that was just a "user conference" type event, and the security was tight. Part to protect attendees, but also IP. For an investor relations type event, and the number of company executives involved, security would be even higher.

That is an odd combination of words.. ."defend, depose, deny" especially the depose part.

Obviously, all three start with "de" .... But what do you think it means?
I immediately went to the DOJ investigation. Would love to know if Brian had been deposed or was scheduled to be.
i wonder if someone could have hacked BT to figure out his schedule? that way it could have been someone without a personal connection to him
Tracker?
Definitely a different backpack. I suspect the gray one is long gone by now.

Full lips, dark eyelashes...no doubt dark haired. Good teeth (other photo)
His resting mouth seems distinctive. Younger than I expected.
Mediterranean heritage I think.
