Yep. It's possible Zelenskyy will come out against a ceasefire. We'll have to wait and see. JMO.
I don't see why he would. He tried negotiations and ceasefires before - but Russia always broke them, so he doesn't trust Putin - understandably. But this time he has EU countries policing a ceasefire.

When Zelenskyy spoke to reporters at Stansted before flying out of the UK, he seemed in good spirits, Reuters reports.

Zelenskyy said he did not think the U.S. would stop its assistance to Ukraine, because as “leaders of the civilized world” they would not want to help Putin.

But he said he remained prepared for any outcome.

Yep. I think that the Europeans were content with sitting back and watching Ukraine fight a stalemate war of attrition. Until now. JMO.
A war that cost us a whole load of money? hardly

But that in itself is funny. Trump did not want Europe to be in the talks and yet wanted us to police the ceasefire. Well is it our business or not?

He did not start anything. Vance did. Just like he tried to go at Starmer Thursday.
Nope. Zellensky started with the the file folder full of photos. That discussion should have been in private. JMO.

Tbh people are calling Zelensky a hero. All the papers here Saturday were against Trump. The EU as a whole are totally supporting him and IMO will continue to do so. I think it has brought them closer together.

And threes years of war for the Ukrainian people. Not good. JMO.
Yet those people are sticking up for Zelensky not Trump.

He was a GUEST, in a foreign country and should have been treated with respect. Not treated like a lesser being or third world nobody!
Real men intimidate them and real women. Shows it daily.

Maybe all the press should not have been invited.

Ukraine also had nukes until they were persuaded to not use them on the proviso that we would protect them going forward. Yes Russias nukes can damage but they are not the only country that has nukes
And that is a major point!

"Thirty years ago, on 5 December 1994, at a ceremony in Budapest, Ukraine joined Belarus and Kazakhstan in giving up their nuclear arsenals in return for security guarantees from the United States, the UK, France, China and Russia.

Strictly speaking, the missiles belonged to the Soviet Union, not to its newly independent former republics.

“The pledges on security assurances that [we] have given these three nations…underscore our commitment to the independence, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of these states,” then US President Bill Clinton said in Budapest.

So does this mean Trump is in breach of contract? JMO MOO

The US has an OBLIGATION to give Ukraine security guarantees JMO

There was a meeting here today and it went very well. Zelensky was then flown to see the King for an hour which for him was a long visit.

As leaders finished their talks in the UK, the war in Ukraine continues. A Russian drone struck a multi-storey apartment building late on Sunday in Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, triggering a fire and injuring eight people, the city’s mayor said. Reuters reports:

Kharkiv resisted capture in the early days of Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine and has since been a frequent target of air attacks. A medical centre was damaged in one of several drone strikes in the city on Friday.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov, writing on the Telegram messaging app, said the fire triggered by Sunday’s attack spread to several apartments on the top floor of the building.

None of the injured had required hospital treatment, he said. Three other residential buildings were damaged, with well over 100 windows smashed. Emergency crews were working at the site, the mayor added.

Get things done? Trump couldn’t even get the deal signed.
Ukraine government agreed to the deal, Zelensky went there to sign the agreement. He derailed it by demanding security which was not originally written into the agreement. JMO MOO

Zelenskyy should had respected the people who hosted him. JMO.

What and just sat there and been insulted and not react? It does not work that way. Oh and incidentally when he went to see the King he wore the same sort of clothes. HE did not say a thing !

Maybe, since Zelenskyy didn't know how to act appropriately. JMO.
Yeah? he gets on ok with other leaders. Unlike Trump and Vance

He always said he wanted security. Why would he not when Russia had broken every agreement between them?

Donald Trump has announced that Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the White House on Friday to sign a rare earth minerals deal, but the US will not provide significant security guarantees to Ukraine as part of the agreement.

The conclusion of a deal, which Trump has claimed would allow the US to recoup hundreds of billions of dollars it spent on military aid to Kyiv, followed days of intense negotiations in which Zelenskyy said he wanted the US to guarantee Ukraine’s security against the ongoing Russian invasion.

Uncertainty remains over the specifics of the agreement, which would establish a joint fund between the US and Ukraine that would receive revenues from the mining of rare earth metals and other precious minerals in Ukraine, as well as some oil and gas revenues.

Trump announced during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that he could confirm that Zelenskyy would arrive in Washington on Friday to sign the deal, calling it a “very big agreement that will be on rare earth and other things”.

Zelenskyy had resisted pressure from the US to sign a draft of the deal at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month that would have established a joint fund 100% owned by the US, according to media reports. “I will not sign what 10 generations of Ukrainians will have to pay back,” he said at a news conference on Sunday.

Media reports suggested the draft contained only vague language on security guarantees.

Zelenskyy described the deal as “preliminary”, adding that it was “just a start, a framework, it can be a big success”.

The Ukrainian leader said that if he visited the White House on Friday, he would be “very direct” in asking whether the US would continue supporting Ukraine or not. “If we don’t get security guarantees, we won’t have a ceasefire, nothing will work, nothing,” he said.
