A peace deal with Ukraine and Russia is possible.
I still think Vice president Vance was right to speck up. Because they were there for the chance to talk about having peace going forward and for Zelenskyy to be thankful for this 45 minute long meeting to put Things Back Together in the right place.
But than Zelenskyy starts by saying Can I ask you something? And he goes back to taking the history of the conflict and implying its no good we can,t do this.
So Zelenskyy keeps taking things apart While the US is trying to put it together.
Back in 2022 Russia wrote out 4 items to get to Peace and that is Not impossible.
Probably Putin can be the type to use what he has and needs and not keep taking things apart. And we need The UN or The EU to oversee this and make sure peace is maintained.
They had a peace deal in 2019 after Russia had invaded the Ukraine (Crimea 2014).
Russia then broke that deal in 2022 by invading further into Ukraine.
There will be no peace without a guarantee of security for Ukraine and it's soverign territory because Russia has already clearly demonstrated
twice in the past 5 years that they want a piece of Ukraine.
Tell me why the US has not yet demanded Russia to get out of Ukraine's sovereign territory? Why is the US demanding that Ukraine give up it's sovereign territory to Russia?
Peace negotiations are supposed to be a two-way street. Making all the demands of one nation and not the other is not "peace"; it's not 'negotiating" --- it's actually called "surrender".
The US is not carrying the unbiased moral high ground here in this conflict. And therefore there will
never be a "Nobel Peace Prize" at the end of this 'negotiation'.
"Give us 50% of your minerals and 500 billion or we're out" can also be called "extortion" and would be if it were an actual business or private citizen doing it.
Not one ally of the United States asked/'begged' for "thanks" after coming to their aid IAW NATO Article 5 post September 11th 2001. Not one ally of the United States asked for their billions back that those wars cost their nations in Iraq & Afghanistan. Not one ally of the United States will ever get back their sons & daughters who fought, spilled their blood & died alongside their US allies in those wars. I carried one of those caskets to the plane on the ramp at Khandahar alongside my US counterparts carrying one of theirs. Yet, no ask for reimbursement or thanks from them. And non-NATO countries did the exct same thing too:
Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, UAE ... and 33 more. How soon we forget.
They simply did what was right. They fought & died for democracy. To be on the right side of history. Some of us still do.
IMO.
