I'm watching The Man in the High Castle at the moment. The parallels to the Trump-era US are chilling.
It's one of the best series' I've ever seen.

And yes, frighteningly similar.

It remains unclear how Ukraine would benefit from US minerals deal

Vitaliy Shevchenko

It still remains unclear how Ukraine would benefit from the minerals deal offered, or rather demanded, by the US.

In exchange for getting access to Ukraine’s vast natural resources, Donald Trump is refusing to provide tangible security guarantees. He says he believes Vladimir Putin wants peace, but recent statements coming from Moscow suggest otherwise.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Russia intends to fully capture four Ukrainian regions Russia claims as its own (Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia), if not more.

And Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, still insists all of the original objectives of the “special military operation” must be achieved.

Appeasement didn’t work so well for Chamberlain. He only had the British channel to protect him, though, not the entire Atlantic.
I am very educated re: WW2. If peace is not your goal, then war. Remember, R has nukes.

I don't think living under Russian rule would be very peaceful for Ukrainians. There's a difference between peace and surrender. Trump clearly wants the latter.

I read somewhere (or possibly watched a YT video) about the Russian nuclear arsenal and the fact that lots of it probably doesn't work. It was was mentioned that what the USA spends annually maintaining their nuclear weapons alone was equivalent to the entire Russian military budget.

Besides, Putin is far from stupid and won't go hurling those about as it won't gain him anything.

As to your bolded part; ever heard the quote ...if you want peace, prepare for war...?

Sign up for the next brigade to enter combat.

Z made a grave error. The U.S. simply isn't funding the slaughter pen anymore. And our boys aren't going in. Those who call for a continuation of the fight, the keyboard warriors, the media bloodhounds, who are not yet ready to negotiate peace, will be ready in a year or two.

Do not be deceived. A non-precision, outdated nuclear arsenal is quite terrifying.

And to be blunt, the U.S. is extremely prepared for war.

So if I personally don't go to war, it's theoretically OK for any sovereign country to be invaded by a neighbour? That's nonsense. We have international alliances for a reason.

What Trump is doing to Ukraine is like a landlord telling a tenant, “Sign this new lease, give me all your valuables, and don’t ask for any maintenance or security. If you refuse, I’ll evict you and hand your keys over to the guy who’s been trying to break into your home.”

It’s not a deal—it’s extortion.

IMO

There are bigger issues here, though.

If Ukraine falls then it will have dramatic consequences for the rest of the world and certainly for the US.

Your President is aligning himself with a violent dictator. To be fair, it's not really alignment or even appeasement, now I think about it - he is simply giving your country away to Russia. He is prostrating himself before Putin.

Once again - MITHC will be the outcome unless he's stopped and stopped soon. Trump is nothing more than a traitor!

Just not for Ukraine…

Or not for war against Russia…

Perfectly said!

Nonsense to me is, those who call for war whilst on the web yet refuse to enter the slaughter pen. I deal in reality. If warmongers want war, and are not ready now to bring P to the table to negotiate peace, they will be ready in a year or two. Those warmongers will need to throw men and money in to the fray. Good luck.

It isn't because Trump is giving it away to Putin.

There won't be a war because Russia will simply take it.

None of this, in my opinion, is even remotely accurate. Thanks.

I'm really not a warmonger. I would love the war to end. Ideally in a way in which the Ukrainians are not totally screwed. I'm not in a position to enlist personally but thanks for the suggestion. Good luck to you too.

This is exactly why Z messed up real bad. The "deal" with the U.S. would have put a huge investment in to U., not to mention literally hundreds, if not thousands of U.S. citizens in to the country. The benefits of such an economic union would have been undeniable. It would also bring P to the table. Who's going to bring P to the table? B didn't. No Euro has. Nobody has even spoken to P, nobody.

So, let the killing continue. Support the meat grinder, because that is what it is. Z needs money, and bodies. Give, and sign up now.
I disagree. Your citizens would not have been there to fight so irrelevant

That's fine. Your opinion is your opinion.

I'll bookmark this post and we can compare the situation in 2028.

I'll take extra care not to get banned in the intervening years:p
