4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #106

Can you say more about the context of my bolded text, … “he noticed she had changed a lot”?

Man, this part of the story is all over the place, believe me. And it doesn't help that a lot of media doesn't bother to make corrections or do verification, so they just echo the same false info even now.

Turns out it was like ye olde telephone game.

QUOTES FROM DAD
So, here's the original interview with Dad on Nov 17, 2002 that is the source for other articles.

(quoted in University of Idaho victim's father says Xana Kernodle had 'bruises,' put up a fight against killer and other articles)

point 1--Dad talks about the front door having a keypad (which you can see in this image Getty Images)

"The door locks with a number code. Every time you go, you have to go around the house because of the number code so they [meaning the killer] either knew that or went around and maybe found the slider door open,"

point 2-- a bit later in the interview XK's dad talks about visiting her and his impression of her:

"And she, really, when I went up there she, I saw her just a week before that and she changed a lot. She had a life. She got to see what it was like to have a boyfriend you live with. And she really turned around. She was really responsible. Helping him out with his studies and stuff. I was really impressed"

MISUNDERSTANDING BY MOM

At the beginning of December, XK'S mom was interviewed by Banfield by telephone.

"Northington says she believes the kids in the house were targeted, as opposed to the house itself. She also revealed that Xana may have had a lock on her bedroom door. Apparently, one weekend before the murder, Xana’s dad, Jeffrey Kernodle, was at the house to replace or fix locks. It’s unclear which locks he worked on."

And media jumped on that and ran with it.

Since Jeff Kernodle didn't do any other interviews until Sept of 2023, what Xana's mom said was never checked or refuted. Keep in mind, Xana and her dad were not close with mom.

So, I'm going to share a little something. My ex used to hide things and when I'd go to look for them where I knew I'd left them, he'd swear he hadn't seen it (whatever it was). And then magically,, the item would appear where I had looked.. One day, I got ticked off and purposefully sat something down I knew would "disappear" (it was always something I had been using, like a screwdriver) and took a picture of it. The following day it was gone. I asked about it, was told he had not seen it and took a picture. Two days later it turned up just a few inches from where I left it (no chance I could have missed it). I took a picture, asked if he'd put it there, he of course said no. I showed him all three pictures with datestamps and asked him how that could happen? He walked away and it never happened again.

Some people are just screwed up. Imo, it's just a control thing. There are some people who when they feel out of control of themselves need to exert control over someone else. Some cases are mild. Some are deadly. JMHO.
It's a form of gaslighting you to make you think you're going crazy. That's where the term originated. A movie named "Gaslight" in which that happened.

I was just shocked by how fast he drove away. I know they said it was a high rate of speed, but I was not expecting what I saw.

When they said on Dateline twice that he almost hit someone, I really was hoping they would expand on that.

Did they mean he almost hit a parked car in the neighborhood as he peeled off? Was it being used just as hyperbole?

Is there an account of someone walking in the area who had to jump out of the way that we haven't heard of? Or a near miss with a moving vehicle right after he left that street that is on another camera (or that person came forward to tell about it)?

Is this on youTube? I forgot to watch!
What is the name to search? Thx in advance.
Pretty sure it is not available on YouTube yet, at least not on the Dateline site, although you might be able to find some clips from it. It is available to stream, today, on Peacock, which is a pay network. I think it costs about $8 per month for the service, but they often give a free trial period, so you possibly could sign up for it, watch Dateline, and then cancel before your free period runs out. Perhaps he sat down in order to search his suit and check for where the sheath had slipped or fallen to, assuming it must have been about him somewhere. Or maybe he realised it was no longer in his possession and felt dizzy with fear and shock? I was even wondering, did he sit in order to reach / adjust something about his feet. Or maybe to use some drugs such as inject something although that seems unlikely. I'm just trying to think of reasons people purposefully take a seat.

If he sat in that chair, IMHO it was because he lost his balance (perhapsstepping over Xana's body as he went to exit), stumbled, and momentarily sat in it.

Yes, that was super weird. They mentioned it and then never followed up at all. I figured they'd go back to that, but never did.

I took it to mean parked car, but who knows.

Totally. I'm not very gaslightable as I have a very good memory. My point was that some people do things that most of us will never understand. We don't think that way. I can't imagine trying to gaslight anyone. Why? What would be the point? And yet in my particular case, I believe that because I had such a good memory and my ex had a very poor one, he was trying to level me. But I'm just guessing.

So if we try and figure out why someone might take someone else's key so they could mess with someone else's things, we'd have to think like a screwed up person. Same with why anyone would kill four college students, you'd have to think like a screwed up person or have researched enough to know why screwed up people might do what they do. And since we are not THAT particular screwed up person, it's all still guess work unless they tell what made them do it. Why is it they need power and control over someone other than themselves? I don't care why, personally. If someone does unacceptable things, get away from them. If they commit crimes, put them away.

I think this is a case of a screwed up person. IMO, there is no rational motive.

It's really good that you thought to document the placement by photograph with timestamps so that he couldn't challenge you.

Step 1--sign up for free trial of Instacart+ (the next tier up of service from their basic fee)
Step 2--on the Instacart website it then shows you the benefits you get with Instacart +, which includes a free trial of Peacock.

AT: I've got this sheath. But I've got all these other things.

So, so many things...

1:40:48. Judge Hippler: his DNA is still on the sheath, that's the problem, Counselor.

Oh, how I love to watch a lopsided debate!

Thanks for inserting the timestamps, @Megnut.

This is my favorite of all the times Judge Hippler verbally admonished AT.

In NYC, many of us would call this “fumfering.”

It’s a Yiddish loan word that means speaking evasively.

The judge is consistently telling her that BK’s DNA on the sheath is IN AND OF ITSELF probable cause. Then she constantly fumfers, “well, Judge, um, because, well you know there was no DNA found in his car, though, and the magistrate…” Judge Hippler: “there’s his DNA on the sheath, though.”

It's like, what? She wanted 3 PC search warrants? So BK could SHARE the blame?

I guess then unknown B and unknown D and BK could all turn on each other and say the other one(s) did it and they were all crammed in the Elantra.....I dunno.....

[bbm]

sorry if this is common knowledge but I cannot keep up with various cases - is it known that he was wearing a suit during the crime?

I'm just trying to think of reasons people purposefully take a seat.

I was genuinely surprised that it’s believed he took time to sit in a chair.

Maybe he was just plain exhausted and had to catch his breath? His plan to kill Maddie had gone awry and he “had” to kill four people, including at least one who fought back?

Maybe he was just checking his pockets or something because he couldn’t find the sheath and he was trying to recollect where he mislaid it? Although I suppose he wouldn’t need to sit to do that.

It’s a startling detail, IMO, because presumably he’d be anxious to flee the scene. His driving away like he was in the Indy 500 certainly seems indicative of that.

IMO

The episode is up on NBC's website now under Dateline.

Yup. Just sign up with an email address and you get 3 free credits which you can use to watch episodes. You can also sign in with your tv provider. I just tested it and it works.

Thanks for this. I signed up and was able to watch also. His goose is cooked! I can't help but wonder if AT watched and if she did what is going through her head. Good Lord she has to be exhausted!
