Will somebody post highlights from dateline? I was unable to watch but I'm very curious
random notes from Dateline:[part 1]

--Verified--Kabar Marine knife sheath purchased--
--[the pro-Bergers have tried to say that the state never said it was the exact same type sheath]

--They flashed pictures of various random women on his phone---but I'm not clear if they were pictures he took of women or maybe pictures from social media?

--Hearing about the pool party rushed me back in time to my early college years at UC Berk in early 70's. So much fun trying to met new people but so fraught with danger at same time...😳 I made a couple of bad choices ...

--I don't think the searches about Ted Bundy will hurt his case that much. He was about to enter his PHD Criminology program---it makes sense he'd be reading that professors study of Bundy. IMO
[ OH WAIT---I just heard part 2---he hated the professor?]

--But the searches for those specific fetishes---they mirror the crime scene, unfortunately for him. That makes them incriminating, imo.

--TA---he was demanding and arrogant. Also sexist. Couldn't get along with students or the professors. Acted like he knew more than anyone else.

--Nai Yung Ko---freaky story 😨 ---Oddst thing was hearing that she liked him at first because he was so nice and helpful---she reached out and made first move and he rebuffed her

--'Sociopathic traits in college students"----[was he asking about himself?]
'Can psychopaths feel love'
Again, the defense can say it was part of his studies

--Had never heard about the incident where a female student of his made a report against him for confronting her by her car in the parking lot----she must have freaked out after his arrest.

---Re-creation---407 am/. slider to mm

---4:20 am watching that car take off so fast---it was so obviously the perp leaving----
if you watch the car it is obviously not a random neighbour's Elantra randomly driving by

There's so much---I'll need to watch it again!

Just thinking he could have had all black under black coveralls. I was thinking that even if you were in a hurry to get out, having a chair would be faster to un coverall than trying to do that next to your car. Seriously, assuming no blood in that vicinity, unzip, roll the top half down, sit, roll everything down onto itself, especially good if you needed to remove some booties from your shoes, wrap the knife in the coveralls, put it all in a black bag with the gloves, roll it up, off you go. If the back door was left open you don't have to touch anything on the way out. AND if you were already uncoveralled with a knife buried in the middle, even if you saw DM, you would not stop because your protection is gone. MOO, of course.

Also if carrying his rolled up cover-all tightly wound and wrapped around the knife, it would look like a long cylindrical shape, probably matt black and wouldn't look like a knife at all but same sort of dimension as a hand held cleaner like a dust buster which is what she reported.

If he removed his cover-all inside the house, how did he not leave more evidence ? Maybe he left gloves and shoe covers on? Or is it testament to the amount of time that had gone past before the crime was discovered and the (understandable) interference with the crime scene by others maybe?

Part 2: Dateline. [random notes]

---CeeCee Moore---DNA expert of IGG:

She carefully explained how they skirted the 'guidelines' for LE use of DNA data bases.

Moore said that the guidelines are 'suggestions' but 'not legal requirements' for federal LE employees. And if the case they are investigating poses a great public threat, they can get an authorisation to use the larger My Heritage database if necessary.

---They talk about one of BK sisters telling Dad that she thinks BK might be involved in the murders. I'm so curious if that will make it into court

---Ok, here comes the defense theories:

----A tip about an alternate suspect---maybe from the blood on bannister? The state didn't test it because they don't want you to know

Death Qualified juries===more whites and conservatives, is that fair?

===that sheath = smoking gun---unless it isn't?
AT wants it excluded because of the IGG search going against guidelines===Judge H denied it so now she will focus upon using IGG controversy:

They didn't have a warrant to go into that DNA data base according to AT---so fruit from poisonous tree.

Now they will say DNA was planted or transferred somehow ===the sheath only says BK was original source but not necessarily the actual perp. Who knows how it got there?

Lining up all her toiletries, I think they said 'organised them' or something similar---made me think of his OCD.

It was also odd---she apparently became very close to him in the beginning---thought he was very kind. He showed her a lot of attention. So she reached out to him and made a move on him, revealing she was interested in him, and he REJECTED her advances.

From her picture, she looked very attractive, much more than he was. But he rebuffed her?

That screams 'incel' to me. He wasn't really looking for a proper, healthy relationship. Like his searches said---he was interested in control, domination, someone passed out.

Maybe we're going to find out more about him, such as he has some form of sexual impotence or abnormality or disability or erectile dysfunction situation? So maybe he literally can't have a regular sexual relationship maybe?

After all, he's an average looking guy, tall, fit, well educated, good prospects, etc... no reason why some women would not have found him of interest.

I think he took them off outside, just peeled them off quickly and threw them in a large garbage bag in his trunk. That would be very quick and easy.

Per Dateline seems Kohberger listened to this song after the killings:

Kinda interesting. Usually I would discard such stuff, people to songs of all varierty that have nothing to do with them, but the lyrics do resonate a lot with what we know of his life.

BK made three phone calls to his father's number/ account the morning of. One was nearly an hour long.

Just a day in the life?
There is speculation/etc that his family had sent him his birthday presents which had just arrived Saturday---so he called his family Sunday morning to thank them and all that . And his clean white shirt in his morning selfie was him trying it on and sending a pic to show mom that it fits etc.

Well that makes sense finally, I was wondering why he was wearing a smart button down shirt on a Sunday morning and we had speculated he was going to church or something.

Also, the thumbs up was to show it fits and not a trophy or memento pic.

What it does reveal is some bruising to his hand IMO and so he's given away some evidence against himself there. I'll bet that hand came up in all shades of bruising and swelling over the following days.

That would make a lot of sense, if not for DM's description of him (which jibes with the coveralls still being on).

I guess I'll just go with him being exhausted for now, but that bothers me quite a bit too. He would have been panicked at this stage, and getting out of there as fast as possible would have been his priority (hence him speeding away).

Come to think of it, I'm leaning nowhere in this regard.
Maybe he needed to take a second look around and mentally focus---is it all good, anything I need to do right now, am I good to go? And he was right by the window I believe, so maybe he wanted to check that no one was out and about before he made his exit?

The Dateline episode shows photos of the victims and other girls on his phone. He didn't just randomly drive by the house and choose these girls. He was stalking them-whether he contacted them or not.

So, pictures I've seen of XK's room from the girls' social media show her desk being under that window that overlooks the front of the house with a rolling chair with a fake fur upholstery or cushion on it.

Given how little floor space there was in that room, I wonder if BK stumbled over XK either right after attacking Ethan or as he tried to step over XK to leave, and then he accidentally lost his balance and ended up falling into the chair momentarily.
Yes, and also he may have taken a quick second to look out the window to see if there are any cars or movement outside, as he is about to leave?

Originally DM thought she heard KG come down the steps, then run back up.

By all indications, it seems LE believes KG was asleep and killed in bed, and since XK was awake, maybe DM was mistaken and it was XK who said there's someone there. Dateline has XK hearing thumping and going upstairs, then running back down.

Not sure how anyone could knew what XK heard... literary license?

It all happened very fast. What if DM simply heard BK? Heard him go up the stairs. Heard him run back down?

The upstairs murders were probably very quick. If he heard DM downstairs, when she was opening and closing her door, if she said anything, he knew he had a potential witness, and encountered XK, not DM.

Once he made entry, maybe BK want even kind of quiet, even if he thought he was.

Dateline collapsed the timetime for me.

I now think that, by 4:12, he may have incapacitated XK, if we can trust that original TikTok timestamp.

Enters just before 4:10, directly upstairs, kills MM with the knife, pommels KG with the butt end, stabs her. Awful violence but uncanny fast. Runs downstairs, catches XK, injures her, kills EC, kills XK. Then sits down. Very carefully steps out of his coveralls, AND his booties.

Not in a million years would I think a murderer, any murderer, but especially one with a background in crime scenes works remove his protective gear while IN the crime scene but BK is a special brand of oblivious, and if the evidence shows he sat on a chair in the crime scene, wow, just wow. Stupid is as stupid does.

So he peeks it off. Takes the booties off. Which would explain the shoe pattern. Probably in stepping over XK with now pristine shoebottoms, he stepped in a small amount of her blood which he tracked past DM's door. Evidence he no longer had protective shoe coverings on.

Still dressed in all black. Carrying a tight bundle.

Defies every principle of transference, but geez, everything he did was haphazard. Organized, disorganized. Before, during and after.

...another online search: “Can Psychopaths behave prosocially,” according to Kohberger’s phone data.

Can they??
Internet says Yes, they can if acting pro-social meets their need to manipulate or make them look good, etc … to meet their psychopath needs
This suggests that he knew he was a psychopath. It's sad that he didn't/couldn't/wouldn't just get help if he thought he was ill. I wonder if he ever had someone tell him he was a psychopath or if he just researched and diagnosed himself based on his feelings/thoughts/behavior.

Agree. I don't think many people would even know about this song, but listening to it on the way home from anywhere seems rooted in experience, if not more. You don't listen to dark music if it doesn't resonate. Odd for sure but telling too. JMOO

Agreed, that would only make sense.

But this is BK. A+ weapon. F for effort. He incriminate himself with DNA, CCTV, phone history, stunning.

The footprint had his shoe tread pattern. For since reason, he might really have removed shoe covers ...

Crazy if he did while still in the house. Risk leaving one behind....

These are the oddities:

That he sat down.

That DM remembered that he was carrying something. Like a handheld vacuum.

That he left a treadmark.

Putting those together, it seems possible he peeled off an outer layer while still in the house.

The new details in this case coming out makes me literally sick. What a freaking nightmare to endure.

I’m trying to process this new information. We always knew it was bad but it’s worse than I ever imagined.
I imagine it will get worse, unfortunately, come trial. :(

Kohberger clicked “buy now” on Amazon, when he was attempting to purchase another knife following the murders (he exited the screen before the purchase). In this screenshot, you can see his click activity in regards to KaBar knives, begins two days following the murders.

So you can see his initial browsing around the time he purchased the knife, and then 8 months later, following the murders.

Stick a fork in this psycho killer, he's done. The DP is too good for BK and I'm not usually a proponent of it. I want him convicted by a jury of his peers and sitting on Death Row, waiting...
