The PA 2nd Search Warrant return listed 'a knife' (no name brand there) first, I found it so I'm linking it...curious that they did specifically name the other knife, Smith Wesson Pocket Knife. Hmmmm.Very possible, I'm just hopeful they have it![]()
Can they do that though? I don't recall ever watching a trial where they bring in a weapon in a locked box and show the jury it saying this is a copy of what we believe was used to commit this murder... If that was the case, wouldn't more trials where the murder weapon wasn't recovered do this too? It would certainly make more of an impact with jurors, but would it be fair and right?I do not believe that there is ANY way that THE knife used to commit the murders has been recovered, and we have not heard of it. I doubt that the state can just show the jury a duplicate knife and say "he used a knife just like this one to murder those four students", but I do not think anything would keep them from showing a duplicate, and saying, Amazon records show that BK ordered a knife identical to this one, and it was delivered to his home, on yada, yada. The knife purchased included a sheath that looks identical to the one found in victim Mogen's bed". Victims' wounds were consistent with the type injuries that such a knife as this could make. His knife or sheath has never been produced through any searches or questioning. Any juror that is at least half awake can make the connection. JMO
Agree. I don't think it can be the Knife without more fanfare. It's possible they mean an EXAMPLE knife. One just like the one that they say was used to commit the crimes so they can show what it would look like and how it might match some of the inflicted damage. I don't know the exact model they think it is, but many have a serrated edge on the back, specifically for tearing. It can leave distinctive marks that would match only that model, for example.
ETA: when I say back on the serrations, I mean on the blade side, close to the handle.
I don't think it's THE knife, but maybe a replica one that he ordered after the murders. Can they do that though? I'm hoping it's THE knife and that the gag order has worked enough to keep that information from us Joe public, though I kinda reckon it could be A knife that was seized during the PA search and they're gonna show it to say like ohhh look he collects stabbies - which I can't see being much of a point, but who knows.
August 11th come to mama
The good thing is that (IMO) nothing leaked that is essential to finding Bryan guilty. So if they don’t allow it at trial, we’re OK.RE: Dateline: These were very big moments. The number of times the Elantra circled the house on King Road was also pretty damning.
I didn’t see any evidence of ring cameras in the three sets of body cam footage taken of the house. Granted, all three were recorded early in the semester, before August 3, but IMO we don’t need ring cameras to make sense of the evidence so far revealed to us.Yeah that's what dateline said, but the timing doesn't square up. Because apparently DM was insistent that she heard that around 4:00 a.m., and we know the door dash got there at 3:59 a.m., and Bryan did not get in there until after 4:07 a.m., and maybe he got inside the house a couple minutes after that, so like 4.09, 4:10. Plus we know xana was online till 4:12. So if Xana said that, she probably said that after 4:12. So there's a big difference between 359 and 412.
Kaylee's room was right above the slider. True there was a porch there, so she could not see directly down. So she might not have seen it, but her dog might have barked and maybe she heard the door Dasher knocking on the slider.
My personal opinion is they had a ring camera on the front and back door and this was all caught on camera. They were all afraid of getting stalked so it makes sense they had cameras. If it was not on camera, then the internet was down just like the rumor says. Just because we don't see pictures of the cameras now, does not mean the police didn't take them down right away and we did not get pictures of them. So I think it's likely Kaylee saw it on her ring cam. But that's just my guess.
I've certainly got some wishful thinking going on, but as I've said my head's telling me that knife he used is buried somewhere under the clouded stars alongside whatever trinkets his boney fingers nicked from the house.I don't think it's THE knife, but maybe a replica one that he ordered after the murders.
Of course, I'm hoping like heck it's THE knife, but that would be one of the biggest secrets kept in any trial I've followed here. Not impossible though, fingers crossed.

Until @MassGuy comes to the rescue, of course. It’s all speculation. What else can we do at this point?
But what if they subpoena a clerk, say, who leaked something to the press? The journalist may be safe, but the leaker? But they can't subpoena the Press... so that's the end of that.
Okay, I read both orders. Wow, it does look like it came from someone on the Prosecution side, although I don't believe it was any of the Attorneys themselves.Defense
Prosecution. This is sure to be the side the leak is from, as the judge makes clear.
He wrote one for both, but the state one is much harsher. He knows the leak came from someone on that side. He lists law enforcement, and the prosecution team. He's casting a wide net, to include anyone who worked on the case directly or indirectly.
Hmmm, IIRC, LE collected a knife with other evidence when they arrested BK at his parent's home in PA along with a gun and other items.Would the State ever be allowed to display a similar knife? A replica? I can see that being important for SCALE, but it's not evidence unless BK purchased it, used it, replaced it, right?
That'll be something if LE found where he stashed it.
JMO
So, did I hear correctly that the house model is not to scale? The house model is a general representation of the house layout. IMO, I suppose a general rep. is better than nothing to help visualize the house and rooms.
I just finished watching the hearing and not sure but that is what I took away from the final minute or two. Something about an order regarding retaining records and violations of the non- dissemination order and the appointment of a special prosecutor with the power to subpoena both LE and magistrates? He then handed something to prosecution table. Hippler them addressed AT and said he would be doing the same for the defense, and AT acknowledged that. ICBW.Did he just hand over an order relating to the non-dissemination order? Would that be regarding the breech?
Leaking is a crime, so the clerk would be in trouble in that situation. But what if they subpoena a clerk, say, who leaked something to the press? The journalist may be safe, but the leaker?
