Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #199

Actually, for someone in plain sight according to LE, two composites plastered everywhere and the CVS being the only place to get prescriptions, photos and what have you in Delphi - why is it no one recognised Richard Allen as being BG?!

Not one person in 5 years.

That is one thing that really does stand out for me in all of this.

Day One of the trial isn't coming quick enough is all I have to say!

JMT
IMO several factors.
Most of his body is covered.
It’s hard to decipher size and height without something in the frame to reference.
BG went from POI to suspect pretty quickly so it was serious to make a tip.
People don’t believe “nice guys” can be monsters.
RA changed his appearance he gained significant weight and grew a long goatee.
Covid happened and people were masked up from March 2020 to mid 2022 in some areas and especially those working at the cvs doing Covid tests.
The only people that got a good look at him in his evil form were murdered.
Those are just a few. And we don’t know that he was never tipped in because we haven’t heard or seen any presented by evidence.
All my opinion.

Judge Fran Gull met with members of the credentialed press to discuss how the trial will unfold, the rules she plans to enforce and the logistics of the jury and the gallery.

Gull said she plans to ‘run a tight ship’, including holding court six days a week and won’t even stop for election day.

Jurors were told to vote before arriving in Carroll County and are now sequestered under the supervision of the sheriff’s office.

Gull told the media the jury will have no contact with the internet, radio or television that isn’t supervised. Jurors will be able to meet with family on weekend, under supervision. Jurors will be able to make calls, again under supervision.

Gull also told the media there are 72 seats in the courtroom. 30 of those seats are reserved for the family, 12 for the media and the rest for the public.

Photos at link.
12 media sounds much better than the 5 allowed for jury selection. MO

In the linked video below, Retired FBI profiler J Douglas doesn't think "down the hill' is an Order by the suspect (RA) but a comment by one who is very familiar with the what/where and his desired location he wants to lead the girls towards. Douglas begins at about the 3:00 min mark
I’ve always wondered if he said “he’s” before “down the hill” or something similar.

I understand and respect OP is viewing this from the perspective of the defendant's due process in the American Justice System. In this case, I believe we are seeing the County Courthouse being allowed to represent the residents and/or constituents including the victim advocates where the colorful ribbons are symbols in memory of the victims. I don't think honoring their memory is intended to take away from the rights of the defendant for a fair trial but I can understand how it might appear so to outsiders. IMO, I don't think the Court will object unless this were to come inside the building and somehow disturb the Courtroom decorum Order .

I've seen this come up before not only with criminal trials. For example, I've noticed similar objections when smaller counties, in rural areas especially, decorate their Courthouse buildings and grounds for Christmas holidays to the loud objections of mostly non residents, and where the locals generally prevail on the grounds that it's their tax dollars that's funding the facility and maintenance budget hours expended for the "winter tree festival." JMO
I can hardly believe I’m saying this, but it feels inappropriate. It is RA’s trial, not a vigil or memorial for Libby and Abby (as much as I wish it were). There has already been so much controversy over RA’s rights, and he’s presumed innocent as he enters court.

I will avoid clutching my pearls too hard over it though.
While I disagree with it, I will respect the town’s decision, if it’s simply to honor the victims’ memory.

I think it's not thought of as a problem by the court. Media will be there, they will report. A handful of states don't allow cameras in the courtroom. Neither does the District of Columbia, The Supreme Court and federal courtrooms. Because of the way communications is now rule of thumb, we forget justice was served when there were no cameras ever in courtrooms. It's an inconvenience for sure for a public that has the world's news at our fingertips, in a moment.
AJMO

And before courtrooms there was.....what? Nobody watching? What kind of justice/trials? Society evolves. Progress (and transparency) is awesome. As we evolve as a society, i.e. technology we never had before, it's OK to evolve with it and not keep the legal system (like every other industry) in the dark ages.

I'm pretty sure (my opinion) that the decision to keep this trial under wraps has nothing to do with technology issues, though. My opinion is that it's all about protection of witnesses.

As always, JMO.

Remains to be seen really - I could believe it went down as the state suggests: that RA followed across and ordered them down the hill, but I want them to have the evidence - actual evidence, beyond circumstantial - to prove the point.
So are you expecting to see CCTV footage, ring cameras, home video of RA walking them down the hill? How exactly would LE have 'actual' as opposed to circumstantial evidence of a kidnapping in a remote park?
I could just as easily believe, in the absence of anything that definitely says RA is the man who said DTH to the kids, that he didn't do this - that there was someone else who did - if the D presented it to me.
But if it wasn't BG that forced the girls down the hill, but was some other guy that popped in, WHY didn't BG try to help the girls, OR run for help, OR call 911?

Reasonable doubt doesn't seem that hard to achieve from where I sit with this case atm. MOOOO

It seems reasonable to you that Libby took a video of a guy right there by them, seconds before they were kidnapped at gunpoint----but the guy in the video was innocent but never reported the kidnapping or tried to intervene ?

I've watched courthouses put yellow ribbons up. I just googled it and there are tons pictures there too. So that is acceptable.

Also wearing of little red flowers on those who work at the courthouses honoring those who died is acceptable.

MOO is, this falls under the same principle.
But do the yellow ribbons and red flowers have to do with a murder trial? I just think on the courthouse or inside the couthouse should be neutral. It's why t-shirts with photos or slogans for victims or defendants are not allowed. I hope they have loads of people outside in support of Justice for Abby and Libby, wearing ribbons and carrying photos and signs <3 The girls should be remembered and at the forefront <3 AJMO

How do we know the video / audio was not cut or spliced in some way? I assume it is altered in some way as we have not seen / heard it in its entire full state.
We will see and hear ALL OF IT during the trial. And I think it will be solid evidence that BG was the kidnapper.
I imagine there is going to be far more video / photos from that day as I suspect the kids probably took quite a loot of footage as that is what many social media connected people do - footage and upload for likes and engagement etc
I don't think they had a lot of time to do so. They had just begun their hike and were crossing the bridge when BG showed up. Once they began filming him it was all over.
(mooooooo). It's possible there is a lot we don't know. I'm of an open mind, patiently waiting to hear the State's case.... and the arguments against it.... MOOOOOO.

He is such a tiny man. I thought that when I saw him a few months ago - it really surprised me.

But for someone in plain sight with all that was made available publicly, even a recorded voice, not one person looked his way. Not one!

Opening statements in the Delphi murder trial will begin Friday in Carroll County, Indiana. Richard Allen is charged with four counts of murder in connection to the killings of Abby Williams and Libby German in February 2017.MORE: https://trib.al/VO58onP

The D-team just trying to confuse the public.

That is all it is.

Apparently, it worked for some people.
But if you read through the whole document and the PCA, you can clearly see the omission of words, etc.

I’ve been fervently trying to catch up, but unfortunately had to skim instead of read thoroughly.

Even in skimming I saw so many wonderful posts.

I see there have already been a lot of responses to the “I killed my family” statement.
I agree with all those who’ve said it’s just figurative language.

That’s true—- it’s just hyperbole.

“I’ve walked a million miles (hyperbole) and my feet are killing me (hyperbole).

Clearly one’s feet are not capable of killing one’s body and equally clearly, RA’s family has not been murdered by him or anyone else.

That utterance has, IMO, exactly NOTHING to do with his actual confessions.

Invisible likes and loves to so many posts that I flew past. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Justice begins tomorrow and I’ll catch up as I can tomorrow night.

The man in the video isn’t proven to be RA.

Hopefully, if they had a still from the video clearer than an 8 bit video game from before I was born they would have posted it and arrested him years ago? Just my opinion.
I think the prosecution will be able to prove that BG was the kidnapper.
AND they will be able to prove that RA=BG, through various offers of proof. It will take some connecting the dots though.

In general, RA has already admitted certain facts---what he was wearing, where he was walking, what he was a doing on the bridge, who he saw while walking. ...etc.

And a few witnesses describe their timelines. And where/when they saw BG.

I think the witness's timeline of seeing BG will match the timeline of RA and they will be shown to be the same person. IMO

Back in the days I was referring to there was even more press in the courtroom, probably mostly press for the really big trials. There's even been cases where having cameras in the courtroom brought appeals for infringing on the defendant's due process. Technology has gotten better though, less wires, noise and blinking lights to distract proceedings. I wish JG had relented and had a media room set with at least the audio live feed piped in. Could have freed up 15 more seats for the public too. AJMO

We don't know for sure that no one looked his way. It's possible he was a tipped in at some point. Problem is , so were thousands of other people over the years.

Tiny man, literally living under the radar.

Carter said it in 2019, “we believe you are hiding in plain sight.”
Turns out he was right.
