Very curious also. And how the timing of him receiving the Discovery coincides with those "confessions." (Or his interaction with other personnel besides his attorneys who may have seen the Discovery). I feel confident this will all be hashed out!

I can't remember the rules on how detailed I can be, but the scanner chatter addresses some of this.

I feel so rusty on this forum! My reply was to when the creek clothes were discovered. I don't think this was the post I meant to reply to!

Stay tuned. RA will speak and tell things only the killer would know. NMcL mentioned that in his opening statement.

He also confessed to a number of things that weren’t consistent w/the facts of the crime. I’m very curious to learn how his true fact mentions compare to the false ones, especially the order of the mentions. If his earliest confessions were accurate and only later he said he shot them, etc. IMO that’s far more convincing than if he said he eventually said he stabbed them after giving multiple other versions first.

It's huge. The two questions we need answers to are how definitive the ballistic evidence is when it comes to Allen's gun, and if he told a version of a confession where he revealed information that only the killer could know. The quantity of those confessions is important, but nowhere near as important as veracity.

The defense will say that Allen was in the throes of a mental breakdown, and those confessions mean nothing. Two things can be true at the same time though, he was going through a mental crisis, and he did reveal facts at some point that he couldn't possibly know.

Unless he was the killer.

#NEW: Update #1 from the second half of day 1 in the #Delphi double murders trial.

- The state’s first witness was Libby German’s grandmother, Becky Patty. Libby lived with her grandparents and was raised by them primarily.
- Becky Patty described Libby and Abby’s friendship — saying the two were like sisters and Abby even went on spring break vacation with them.
- Becky described many of her last moments with Libby on the morning of Feb. 13, 2017.
- Becky said when Libby and Abby were headed to the trails, she told Libby to grab a coat. Libby said, “Grandma, I’ll be ok.” Those were the last words Becky heard from Libby.
- She emotionally described the moments she found out Libby had died.

Welcome back to the Delphi Murders discussion thread.

On the afternoon of Feb. 13th, 2017, best friends Abigail Williams and Liberty German were dropped off at a bridge in the town of Delphi. On Feb 14th their bodies were discovered around noon about 50 feet from the north bank of Deer Creek which is about 0.5 miles from the bridge.

Richard Allen has been arrested and charged with the murders of Abby and Libby

I don't think he said that in the actual press conference. But, in a press release from that day, they said he said it. So, maybe it was in his prepared remarks and then he decided for whatever reason not to say it?

#NEW: Update #2 from the second half of day 1 in the #Delphi double murders trial.

- The second witness the state called was Libby German’s sister, Kelsi Siebert, who was then Kelsi German.
- Kelsi described her last day with Libby and driving the two girls to the trails near the Monon High Bridge.
- She told the jury Abby had on a grey zip up jacket that day, that she had borrowed from Kelsi.
- Kelsi told the jury she got a call from Becky Patty that Libby was missing while her boyfriend had just left for work.
- Kelsi said she was texting and calling Libby the night of February 13.

(Derrick told the jury he left the home at 1:20 p.m. to take photos for appraisal properties in Frankfort owned by the Pattys. Half-way there Libby called him to pick them up from the bridge. Derrick told Libby he had photos to take and he finished the work and went to pick up the girls.)

Even if they explain the "confessions" and show how he may have picked up details from all over the place... sadly, most jurors are inclined to take "confessions" at face value... MOOO.

Anna Williams, Abby's mom, said she got word that the girls hadn't come back and that police had been called as she finished a shift at work.At the time, she said, she thought, 'I'm not sure what these girls are up to. ... It's probably not that big a deal.'

Also testifying this afternoon were Derek German, Libby's dad, who arranged to pick up Abby and Libby at the trailhead that afternoon and then took to the trail looking for themAnd Mitch Catron, a Carroll Co. Sheriff officer, who described the initial dispatch of missing girls.
