Thank you so much for the local insight! And welcome to Websleuths :)

Do. you have any instinctual ideas about where Darius would have ventured to in that area? I got fixated on those bluffs/quarry or "climbing" up somewhere but maybe too far away from campground. Hard to tell distance on maps.
I honestly think he's in the woods somewhere. If you wander off the trails anywhere in the area the undergrowth is deceivingly thick and it's very easy to become turned around. Even in September when the leaves and shrubs start to die off it creates a lot of ground cover. Especially at his height, it'd be hard to see over any of it. And it'd be hard for SAR too.

I don't think the limestone area is too far! But it is quite tall from what I remember and I don't think it'd be easy for me to scale, let alone a kid. Unless he found the road(/path) that goes up half of it, but I'd hope they'd have used the drones to search it.

Yes. People, if you go hiking with your kids, dress them in the most eyeball tormenting color you can find, loud, bright and unnatural, so they can be visible from a distance. Dressing them in dull colors, brown, black, beige, grey, dull green, makes them practically invisible.
You can also get little reflectors that clip onto zippers, bag handles, etc!

A recent update regarding the all out search happening this weekend. A lost autistic child can greatly impact the nature of the search. So loud sounds (is this referring to searchers calling out his name?) isn’t appropriate? <Thinking of Lilly and Jack, undiagnosed autism could’ve had serious consequences>

Each of those volunteers searchers out there are truly remarkable people!

Search is not scaling back. Now there’s 225 personnel searching shoulder-to-shoulder in the general area where it’s believed Darius is thought to be incl SAR but also Prov Sheriffs, Fish and Wildlife and RCMP officers (it was quite a list, I missed some of it).
Victim Liazon Services are supporting his family with all their needs while camping onsite.
Doctors and scientific evidence has been sought to advise and assist with search efforts.
Caller question - it was confirmed recreation area where Darius was camped and search area are both on south side on the highway, the hwy is not inbetween.
Everyone including hunters are required to stay clear of search area.

225 personnel on scene; NOTAM bans recreational drones; public information centre opens for tips

[SBM]

To gather local knowledge, the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass has opened a public information centre at the curling lounge in the Crowsnest Sports Complex in Coleman, open today from 3 to 5 p.m. Maps of the search area are available there so residents familiar with the backcountry can suggest potential hiding or safe places. Slaney said those maps are not posted elsewhere and the centre is intended to keep people away from the search site.

Adam Kennedy, provincial training manager with Search and Rescue Alberta, said approximately 225 personnel are on scene, including 128 SAR Alberta volunteers from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Alberta Health Services is providing medical support for personnel. Search dogs, an RCMP helicopter, and drones with infrared and night vision are in use, with analysis of previous drone footage continuing. He noted additional participation from Alberta Conservation Officers, Alberta Sheriffs Fish and Wildlife Officers, RCMP Air Services, RCMP Police Dog Services and the RCMP Tactical Support Group.

Kennedy said optimism remains. ‘The search effort is reflecting the assumption that Darius is alive,’ he said, adding that the effort is guided by statistical analysis and expert consultation.
