IMO - When you look at the overall scenario and everything we know, from statements to timelines to searches, and everything in between - Them wandering off is the least likely scenario. Although it might be tied with stranger abduction.

I understand that wandering off seems unlikely given the timelines and search efforts. However, considering the children’s young age and natural curiosity, it’s still important not to dismiss that possibility completely. At the same time, stranger abduction is a serious concern and should be thoroughly investigated. A combined approach looking at all evidence—physical clues, witness statements, and behavioral patterns—is crucial to get closer to the truth

Extended days may have been to gather patterns, see peoples normals, to see if people were scoping out certain areas or to not give the world specifics when the person realizing the images was interviewed by media or on social media

…..M Scott, 44, said she was visited on Tuesday by two officers from the RCMP's major crime unit, who inquired if she had any trail cameras set up on her 16-hectare property in Glengarry Station, roughly five kilometres east of the children's home as the crow flies.

She does — seven in total. One points down her driveway, another is positioned near the house and the rest are scattered throughout the woods. It takes about an hour to walk between them….

……Scott said she was given a USB drive to load her trail camera footage onto. She was initially asked to give them her footage from May 1 to May 3, but they later expanded their request to cover April 27 to May 3.

She said she handed over the footage on Thursday afternoon.

Her property is a roughly eight-kilometre drive from Lansdowne Station down dirt roads, but is also connected to it by train tracks and clearings for utility lines.

Scott said she posted in a private community Facebook group asking her neighbours if they, too, had been visited by the RCMP. She said two other people responded that they had also been approached for footage.…..

…..Scott said she was also asked to confirm information about her and her husband's vehicles, in order to "rule out local traffic" on the footage.

CBC News requested an interview with RCMP and asked specific questions including why they are seeking trail camera footage from prior to the children's disappearance and why they are identifying local vehicles.

The force declined the interview request and pointed to its latest news release from May 18, which provided some details of the latest search efforts.

"To ensure the integrity of the investigation, no further details will be released at this time," said Cpl. Carlie McCann.”

Yes, but limited isn't necessarily bad. I'm not huge on social media. Aside from being incredibly nosey, I use it to interact in my private neighborhood group. Lost pets, suspicious cars, needing help with yard work. All sorts of things are posted there that random people sleuthing on FB wouldn't be able to see. It's still useful. We don't know what Mom is doing on FB privately. If/ when she is on trial we may find out.

As far as the earlier timeframe of requested video, imo you have to eliminate someone hanging around, lurking, stalking, etc. I don't personally believe that's the case here, jmo, but it's a thing to cross off.

I’ve been following this closely but have avoided publicly commenting on it so far because I’ve personally experienced a loved one go missing in the same region. Due to that experience which is still technically ongoing - the trial was originally slated for Sept 2024 and currently the only updates are publication banned status updates for the court - I know exactly how tight lipped not only RCMP but everyone involved will be if this plays out as anything other than they wandered off on their own and simply have yet to be discovered. MOO RCMP have an idea of where to look and why but they will do everything they can to avoid admitting even a hint of criminality to the public/media until they make an arrest.
