The children
were last seen in public on May 1, getting groceries with their stepfather, Daniel Martell, in the nearby town of New Glasgow.
Mr. Martell has said he and the family spent the evening at the mobile home while he worked on the fence at the back of the property. His mother, who owns the mobile home, resides on the property in a camper.

The next morning, the children’s mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, marked the children absent from school at 6:17 a.m., Mr. Martell said.
Could the kids have got their hands on power tools Daniel left lying about from evening before? Just a thought
As I type this , I don't think the kids came to harm by either of the parents hands . If Maleyha had anything on Daniel I think we would have had news of a formal arrest. She would just come out and say off the bat he killed my kids .
In ireland a suspect can be arrested and questioned for up to 7 days with breaks for rest if the suspect opts for them , longer than I think 6 hours has to be approved by a judge . This can be done without finding a body . If the suspect opts to stay silent they are released without charge until more evidence transpires and in some cases a file of evidence sent to the DPP ( director of Public prosecutions )
Accusations towards one another in a crisis I feel can be done in anger and fear especially in dysfunctional, immature relationships .( generally it happens re Accusations of precieved infidelity in drunken arguments ) so prehaps Daniel is hopeful for a reconciliation
Here is my hypothesis on what happened,
Imo I don't think the relationship was a healthy one , I think it was akin to a teenage relationship dynamic. Lots of petty arguments, probably name calling and prehaps emotional ,financial and mental abuse . Most likely Daniel was the more stricter parent and most likely controlling. We can see in his interviews he is not humble in his opinion of his parenting and quite possibly feels superior to Maleyha in this regard But to the average Joe. It would appear on the surface at least . It was a normal family that have their troubles like the rest of us . I think the kids might have been fearful of upsetting him and thread carefully not to push the boundaries as living in a small abode I'm sure they would be witness to all of the above .
Usually in families where arguments are the norm usually one is the instigator or aggressor. Younger children will usually side and spend more time with the aggressor so as not to become a target or avoid them altogether
Daniel has said he repeatedly had to tell the kids to close the door when exiting into the yard . If we look at this , if you are a passive parent you may just say nothing the kids are young , kids will be kids etc they are 3 and 6 and I think only recently turned those ages . Do we really expect that level of responsibility from kids that young ?
Now back to the morning of the disappearance, I think the kids were yelled at that morning to be quiet ,you hardly whisper or speak in a low tone if you are in the bedroom and the kids in the kichen .depending on time maybe they were told to go back to bed , I think after 2 days running into 3 with no school they were bored and felt they would be able to be noiser in the yard without getting into trouble or yelled at . I think lilly closed the door and prehaps put a few toys or snacks in her backpack so as not to have to trouble Maleyha or Daniel until they decided to get up .
Now after this , is where it gets difficult. And it raises some questions. Did the children think they were in school and headed out to the road for the bus ? or did they think if they saw the bus driver , he might bring them to school as they were bored ? Remember kids of 3 and 6 don't think of the ins and outs of this . They just think the bus driver is our way to fun and other children .
Now from there at the side of the road . Did someone known to them or unknown to them take them to harm them ? As they were alone at the side of the road with no one watching. A stranger with nefarious intent may ask why are you at the side of a road, where are your parents ? The kids reply we are going to school and our parents are sleeping , stranger says get in I was sent to take you to school or something along those lines and as the kids will talk or go anywhere with anybody . Off they go
Or did they head out into the woods with the intent of finding a familiar place to play or have fun prehaps at the cabins ,Daniel refers to and got lost and tried to back track and got lost further ?
As a previous poster notes , it's in kids nature to not respond to the calling of their names if they think they are in the biggest trouble EVER particularly if the parent calling them is generally the one who doles out a spanking or some other punishment.
I think they are in the woods and unfortunately unless they have survival skills and know how and what to forage for and have access to water they are gone . Search and rescue no matter how throughout can miss remains or even people barely clinging to life let alone kids who may seek shelter in places adults wouldn't fit
