I think the 'piece of blanket' could be two things. One, someone misinterpreted the pink ribbons searchers are placing in trees, etc with one that might have ended up on the ground. They are probably all pre-cut to a certain length and could be misplaced or dropped by a search team member. The second is that it really is a piece of Lilly's blanket and was being carried by one of the kid's and somehow they stood on it, tearing it and leaving a shred behind. Or it got caught on some random junk placed around the yard.
Pink ribbons, excellent point!
Once it had been found, DNA tests don’t take weeks anymore. So my theory - it was tested right away and revealed absolutely no DNA of Lilly, that’s why the pipeline trail was put on the bottom of the list for search priority. SAR didn’t search the pipeline trail until May 30th/June 1st weekend, a month after the disappearance. If DNA testing connected the fabric to be a piece of Lilly’s blanket they would’ve immediately searched that location while there was still a chance she’d be found alive.
