To summarize to this point:
-LE have not colluded with family to hide children......STILL MISSING PERSONS CASE
-LE continue with no abduction theory......STILL MISSING PERSONS CASE
-No cadaver dogs or further searches in bush, concluded no alive children in bush, therefore bodies can wait for further cadaver search as necessary (environmental consideration) STILL MISSING PERSONS CASE
-LE has not arrested any suspects for murder.......STILL MISSING PERSONS CASE
After all this, the kids are STILL MISSING PERSONS CASE.

What head way have LE made? Unknown.
Stepfather who has no legal responsibility is now finished with media. LE contacts him as needed, which obviously isn't much, and preinform him of any media they are going to release. He goes on with his life.
Mother is MIA. Obviously LE are in contact with her. No kids, no evidence, no criminal case.
No one has been charged with neglect or mischief. No suspects listed. She goes on with her life.
All this money, all this disruption of lives for what? The kids are still missing. Can we presume them dead? Dead by environment or by the hands of some crack pot? Or could they have been sold?
If only they had issued an Amber Alert... just maybe someone would have seen them
There was an alert, just not an Amber Alert. As posted here many times, this case does not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. Authorities don’t know they were abducted, if they were, they don’t know by who, or even have a suspect, and don’t have a vehicle description. An Amber Alert has specific criteria for a reason. If Amber Alerts were issued every time there are missing children but then they’re subsequently found to have not been abducted, or it was a false alarm, this turns the Amber Alert into a “boy who cried wolf” situation where we don’t take them as seriously. Amber alerts are reserved for a very specific criteria.
IMO

Is there a time line on issuing an Amber Alert? Could they still do it now? Or how about a missing person billboard or poster campaign. What caused LE to not take these steps? In not doing so, what reasons did they have for this quick decision?
I've seen road checks for things like this, even if just done for a few hours in the window of opportunity. Radio campaigns, alerting all departments and nearby provinces. Or did we just not hear it being out of community?
It doesn’t meet the criteria for an amber alert

Still a missing persons case but led by the major crimes unit !!! Looking a Bit more than a standard missing persons case .

A lot of having to read between the lines in this case . It's more what's alluded to than what is being said and I speculate that is for operational purposes.

I actually am more interested in why Maleyha has had no contact with RCMP in so many weeks than I am about what label is put on finding out what happened to the kids tbh .

Something is not being said and the reason it's not being said is because it quite possibly might cause a mis-trial through trial by media . Big red flag for me is former cps involvement and the timing of that with the kids disappearance. It's very suspicious, even if it was only in the regard of behaviour in school. I'm actually surprised it was officially confirmed. A lot of cases this is usually only made public during or after a trial imo

In order to release an Amber alert the police would usually have a suspect vehicle and or a registration number plate . I was reading up on this and it made sense that they didn't at the time . But after reviewing footage if there was an indication they were picked up along the road or transferred into another vehicle along the route . I'm sure the protocol would then be an Amber alert. By then though it's most likely that the barn door had been kicked off it's hinges and the horse has well and truly bolted into the abyss

Two Emergency alerts for Vulnerable Persons were issued. Is there a reason to believe early action by the RCMP was inadequate? The promptness of the searchers searching the woods was quite remarkable I thought, only in hindsight do we now know it proved unsuccessful.

Explained here -
Seven weeks after two children went missing from a rural Nova Scotia community, family members are still questioning why an Amber Alert wasn't issued for Lilly and Jack Sullivan.

There’s been a long so excuse me if I am not remembering

Has Daniel said anything at all about Thursday?

As to what's been reported in MSM, he mentioned the family being together at a shopping center, that there wasn't any sort of party at their place as apparently had been spread around in social media rumor, and that evening he worked on the fence. I don't recall him saying anything other than that.

Just trying to stimulate critical thinking , not snark. Fully aware of Amber Alerts, but use this line of thought… RCMP latest statement , “they are considering all possibilities”. To me that includes abduction.
Look running this stuff back and forth without fresh info, just solidifies in peoples minds a one track scenario. Dangerous spot to be. Too comfy. This case smells of something, and if no one can accept the mother has hid them, or they’ve been murdered, and authorities ( and I don’t include one SAR volunteer to be said authority) say not in woods, what options does that leave? No one has gone down the abduction road of thinking. Is this case just another one off missing kid? I don’t think so.
Maybe it’s time for upgrading of the Alert system?
As to the enquiry re me suggesting LE haven’t stepped up to the plate of serving and protect? I fully understand LE duties/requirements of their job, and how they go about executing them, I also am aware of the continued scrutiny of them country wide, and the displeasure of the taxpayers they directly serve ( not unusual for most LE) Did notice DG complained of this himself in relation to this missing persons case. Don’t know anything other than his statement to cbc . But I also heard JM say the same. Maybe her and DM are friends or have discussed the case?

I don’t know I think they’ve already clarified they don’t believe abduction and don’t need to repeat that

Their statement should have been, “we’re considering all possibilities except abduction”.
I know it sounds like nitpicking, but being succinct, would give the people the impression of confidence, ie “ good they have something, they’re making headway”. Do they owe public info, well actually that answer is yes and no. A good media relations person alleviates concern and informs.
Remember the posted attempted abductions close to their community that I post a month ago? There haven’t been anymore in the news lately. Is that because they made an arrest or??? Was that person or person responsible for all of them? Or were there more? Like two little kids??

Thursday afternoon drive to a location near New Glasgow-
-which route
-did they interact with any other people
-has other people relationship been investigated
-did they stop
-intention of trip
-did they meet anyone
-did they make a purchase
-did kids return with them
-where they captured on cctv on highway, stores, homes, or other vehicle dash cams
Does anything linked to the trip to a location near New Glasgow, link the activity that evening at trailer?
In this interview with CBC he mentions speaking to a coworker in the parking lot of whatever store it was they went to

My sense is they are considering all possibilities and that doesn’t exclude abduction. Not excluding abduction doesn’t mean it meets the requirements of an Amber alert.
I personally believe LE are being very thorough. I think people attach a lot of emotion to the idea of an Amber alert, it appears to be the case with the family of L and J. However, Amber alerts are not issued on the basis of family demands or demands from the general public but the specified criteria.
IMO

My approach has been to build my hypothesis about this case based on statements offered by the RCMP investigating the disappearance, not by versions of events given by the family. Below are some highlights from official RCMP news releases (with links) for those who are interested.
  • "Based on the details we've gathered so far, we've confirmed that Lilly and Jack were observed in public with family members on the afternoon of May 1," says Cpl. Sandy Matharu, Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit. "We're now asking anyone who has dashcam footage or video along Gairloch Rd. between 12 p.m. on April 28 and 12 p.m. on May 2 to contact us."
  • June 11: More than 11 Nova Scotia RCMP units are working on the missing persons investigation, some of which include the Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, Pictou County District RCMP, Digital Forensic Services, Truth Verification Section, Legal Application Support Team, Police Dog Services, Underwater Recovery Team, Behavioural Sciences Group, and the Criminal Analysis Service.
  • May 7: This search has included many agencies, including volunteer ground search and rescue teams from all surrounding areas and New Brunswick, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, the Nova Scotia Guard, the Salvation Army, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Department of Natural Resources Air Services, Nova Scotia Public Safety and Field Communications, Canada Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 5, and several RCMP units, including Police Dog Services, drone operators, and our Major Crime Unit.
  • June 1: Seventy-eight trained searchers from nine ground search and rescue organizations, including, Colchester County, Pictou County, Halifax, Strait Area, East Hants, Eastern Shore, Musquodoboit Valley, Pugwash, and Eastern Shore, were engaged today in an effort to advance the ongoing investigation and locate Lilly and Jack.
  • In an effort to advance the ongoing investigation and locate Lilly and Jack, searchers from ground search and rescue teams and the RCMP will focus on specific areas around Gairloch Rd. and the nearby pipeline trail, where a boot print was previously located.
IMO there is no evidence the children were at the Landsdowne property on the evening of May 1 or May 2 before the 911 call. This is an unparalleled investigation in Canada of monumental cost and resources. This is a human experience for all of the people who work for the agencies assigned to this case.

Why do you think they weren’t there May 1? Do you think they didn’t return from their outing?

Just a refresher for those in Ontario, out of bad sometimes comes good. Amber Alert Changes

There is no evidence they were at the property on the evening of Thursday, May 1. They may have been. RCMP indicates the last sighting of the children in their news release. They don't confirm or corroborate any of the family statements about their version of events on the evening of Thursday, May 1. <modsnip: Opinion stated as fact> The RCMP withdrew their search in the woods and have stated repeatedly there is no evidence of an abduction. See all of the links and quoted statements above.

Specifically the dates of the dashcam footage, I don’t think offers a clue to anything other than what they’ve said, it’s a thorough investigation. For example I’m reminded of the Likeness/O’Brien abduction/triple murder in Calgary a few years back. A distinctive green 1/2 ton truck was sighted driving past their residence several times, eventually with a tarp over the box that hadn’t been there before. Studying nearby CCTV and traffic on the street gave LE the big break in that case.

IMO it’s standard operating procedure during any investigation to take a look at traffic to determine if anyone appears to be casing out the area. It isn’t proof of anyone in particular being investigated other than if somebody they already interviewed claimed to be nowhere near the children’s residence that entire week.

I think the #1 leading statement by the RCMP is this investigation “will take longer than we hoped”.

Curious @AddyFinch why do you think they were on the property on the evening of May 1? And why do you think they went missing on the morning of May 2? What do you think happened?
