I agree. I think they are focused on someone and being quiet not to tip anyone off. Let's hope!
My hope is, they're focused on evidence that leads to a resolution.

  • #762
I dunno. They could say something as short and simple as “we’re making good progress in this investigation”. Something, anything. I wish I could feel more optimistic but nothing to say reminds me too much of the old adage, if there’s nothing good to say then don’t say anything at all.
JMO
True, good point.

I guess the only reason I think they'd stay dead quiet (and I'm still holding out hope!) is that they don't want to spook anyone to do something drastic/violent or flee of they're feel they're backed into a corner kinda thing. I hope LE is "playing dumb" as a strategy.

Jack and Lilly have been gone for far too long, and things are far too quiet. I don’t want to see this case go cold. Something has to give. I have faith that RCMP have some info they are working with to bring closure.

I agree. There has to be an update soon surely.

At her home in Middle Musquodoboit, N.S., Lilly and Jack Sullivan's paternal grandmother, Belynda Gray, keeps a photo of their first day of school in September, 2024. The children were reported missing to police on the morning of May 2.

Lilly and Jack Sullivan lived at this house in Lansdowne, N.S. In May, Daniel Martell, right, waited there with brother Justin for news of the search for the children.

Life for Lilly, 6, and Jack, 4, inside the cluttered trailer in Lansdowne was chaotic. There were holes in the floor of the front stoop. Tarps to protect the underside of the trailer from the elements. And so much racket from the lively children that their step-grandmother soon retreated to a camper in the driveway.

Their stepfather, Daniel Martell, 34, with pale eyes and ropey arms, worked at the local hardwood mill. Their mother Malehya Brooks-Murray, 27, a member of Sipekne’katik First Nation with chin-length dark hair, stayed home with their baby Meadow.

Inside the mobile home, a large woodstove filled up most of the living room. The kids’ artwork was pasted to the kitchen wall, next to the sliding patio door that led to a yard where they spent hours playing next to the chicken coop.

Lilly chattered away to her dolls and stuffed animals. Jack turned over rocks and pieces of wood in search of bugs and worms. Outside the fenced backyard, and up over a steep embankment, the children sometimes played in a small fort nestled beneath boughs of spruce. It was like their own little dreamworld

I was just reading this article this morning.
"Connie Brooks from Sipekne’katik First Nation, at home with son Henry Brooks, says Jack and Lilly's mother told her Daniel would sometimes restrain her and take her phone. She told police about this."

I've always had the feeling he's not anything like how he's presented himself in interviews.

Hopefully this does not turn into another Sebastian Rogers or Summer Wells. Its just too quiet.

I can't read it, but does she explain why this was allegedly done? Or give any other context at all?

But earlier that morning of May 2 their mother had marked them absent from school at about 6:15 a.m. Both parents have said it was because Lilly had a cough.

They say they heard the children playing in the next room while they dozed in the bedroom with their toddler. Daniel has said he saw Lilly pop in and out a few times. At about 9:40 a.m., the couple says, they awoke and realized the kids were gone.

“They were outside playing, but we weren’t aware of it at the time, and the next thing we knew it was quiet,” she told CTV Atlantic. “We get up and I tell my partner Daniel, ‘Do you hear the kids?’ and he says ‘No,’ … Instantly we are looking outside, we are looking everywhere, yelling for them.”

Jack and Lilly’s mysterious disappearance has baffled the country. More than three months after they were reported missing – after one of the largest searches in Nova Scotia’s history and an intensive police investigation – police still haven’t confirmed the circumstances of how the young siblings went missing. It’s possible that there were clues, even potential warning signs, in their home life. A closer look into the lives of Jack and Lilly shows that all was not well in the trailer in Lansdowne.

Belynda Gray, at her kitchen table in Middle Musquodoboit, has spent long hours in the woods looking for clues to Lilly and Jack’s whereabouts. Her son, Cody Sullivan, separated three years ago from the children's mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray.

“Daniel was also upset that Malehya left. “I’ve been the only one there for them,” he sobbed in an interview. “She can’t control them. Only I can. They act out whenever she’s there. She always gets me to calm them down, or get them to stop fighting, or feed them, or get them up, and put them to bed every night. She was asking me to do everything. It just breaks my heart not to ever see everybody.”

Well that sealed the deal for me.

IMO school staff are speaking out anonymously because they are sick of this nonsense. And assuming what they said is true, and I believe it is, he was dishonest about cps as suspected and everything else he has said is out the window.

Mom appears to be setting herself up for a path out of responsibility imo but.. I don’t have much sympathy to offer.

Not surprised by the meth mention either

In the G&M article, it’s stated the RCMP have confirmed a tip from a neighbour who claimed to have heard a “loud five-speed car” come and go from the mobile home about six times between midnight and 5am, just prior to the children reported as missing.

This would be why rumours of the children possibly still alive but placed somewhere still prevail. On the other hand it also could explain why the search of the forest proved futile.

The grandmother said he was making Malehya scared and afraid to go anywhere or do anything. Also, Daniel apparently concealed a drug addiction for nearly the first year of their relationship.

Makes sense that Malehya took off and split from him at the first safe opportunity she had IMO.
Thank you Sarahlou for providing this archived article from The Globe and Mail. It was credited as written by two reporters. I understand TGaM is one of the largest Canadian newspapers. Its primary circulation is central and western Canada. Not the area from which the children lived.

The two claims reported that I found most concerning was the Saturday evening (following the disappearance) accusations from the mothers family towards suspected involvement of the step fathers family. This accusation allegedly stemmed from a discussion about meth use in the home.

The second alarming report concerns an unidentified neighbor. This neighbor reported to LE about a loud 5 speed vehicle they heard come and go from the children’s trailer property 6 time between midnight and 5AM on the Friday morning they were reported missing. This report was not made until May 8th. The neighbor claimed to be outside repairing a vehicle during this time frame. I am very skeptical of this report, but it is very alarming if true. If true I suspect meth may have been involved there as well.

The families discussion of meth is very concerning. Families have a way of knowing what the underlying issues are. My family has had members who have dealt with meth addiction. This is a very life altering addiction that is very difficult to overcome. I have watched it slowly destroy the mental and physical health of people. Put them in a mental, legal and financial condition that was overwhelming. If there is truth behind these allegations of Meth addiction I am very concerned about the abuse of these children. Reported to have been sent to school with inadequate warm clothing. Possibly somewhat malnourished. Signs of physical abuse. These are all red flags that can be explained by their caregivers being meth addicted. Hope LE can locate these children quickly and get the mother the help she needs.

The source for the information about Lily having a black eye and about Daniel allegedly being controlling and Maleyha being scared of him is this article which was been posted in this thread. (Just clarifying as my post got removed for no link)

I’m curious of this alleged confession from Maleyha to her paternal grandmother who lived on the reserve. When a female divulges information such as they’re fearful of their partner it usually can be perceived as a serious cry out for help, if so what came of it?

A child having a black eye? Unless someone asked the child at the time and they stated they were hit by their mom or dad, a black eye is not evidence of abuse. Rambunctious children get bruises too.

According to the G&M article Maleyha only told her grandmother this after the kids went missing.
Maybe she was too afraid to say anything before.

Or she needed a story…

Well, that was most certainly a depressing read. I'd like to know more about that car that allegedly came and went several times between midnight and 5am. That may provide some much needed answers.

In the article DM maintains that he spent the evening before the children disappeared "he spent the evening working on the fence in the backyard – it was a night just like any other for the young children, he added, though he couldn’t remember what time they went to bed."<modsnip: no source link>
