My opinion only : Someone(s) knows something.
I have pondered this from the time the mother left and cut off DM.
Wouldn't one want to stay in contact in case the other person heard something from LE or even locals ?

My husband and I walked the neighborhood and put up at least 16 flyers with photos of our lost rescue kitty after he'd sneaked out and absconded for four days.
Pics and our contact info.
Thank goodness he wandered back on his own --hungry and with some burrs in his tail after two more days.
He wasn't chipped then but he is now.
Imo.

The difference is nobody but the pet owner is out searching for a lost pet so the public is asked to assist them by keeping an eye out for that animal. However the police are not involved in searching or investigating the disappearance of a lost pet and that’s a key difference.

Since the RCMP is leading the investigation, it’s not up to MBM to take over. They’re working on her behalf.

Would a private citizen solve the disappearance of Lilly and Jack if only MBM would tell all? This is assuming MBM has already given all possible information to the RCMP who are tasked with investigating the disappearance, which it seems she did in her numerous interviews with them.

That brings another question - if anyone believes the general public can solve a missing children’s case while the police can’t, why don’t the police just open up their files and let the general public go at it?

Part of me thinks that if they'd been found alive or god forbid--deceased; that the mother MBM might cut off her boyfriend, DM, after all he's not the bio dad.
But, during this time that Jack and Lilly are still missing ?
Not likely in my opinion.
If anything to keep tabs on any updates, and see if he'd heard anything.

Even if not wanting to live in the same house, to cut him off completely seems a strange choice.

Forget MBM for a moment and look at this from a broader angle

What does a parent of missing children show when they give a voice to their missing child ?

What purpose does it serve in the minds of investigators and the public ? ( I'm not talking about giving details about the investigation)

Does a parent speaking about their missing child publicly generate public awareness and possible funding for private professional searchers with the latest equipment?

It's not really the departure that bothers me and the breakdown of the relationship. snippets from msm tell this was not a happy homelife for any of them in the household.

It's the fact that she is the only mother them children have and imo a mother speaks up for her children even if it means putting their fears aside JMHO

No we haven’t, notice my word ‘IF’. But we’d have to question the competence of police if we have reason to believe they were not interested in her action of leaving so soon. Seems basic policing 101 to me.

If MBM was so scared of D why would she stay in bed and let him take care of the kids that morning? She sure was trusting that mourning when Lilly came into the bedroom and let D handle things.

I reserve my opinion on this young woman as it’s not my place to judge her without knowing the facts of why she left.

But I really doubt her 4 and 6 year old children would’ve been reading the news and suddenly remembered they ought to come home because mom was worried. This situation is very different concerning that of a fun-away teen or missing adult, who’s possibly hanging out with friends.

There would be nothing wrong with keeping the children's faces and pleading for them in a press conference, and also it's good that people are asking questions as it helps to keep this case alive and active.

As far as pets, they're like family members to some people, but children of course even more so !
Some people like Jacob Wetterling's family never moved nor changed their phone number when he went missing, and he was just a boy.

It looks at this time like Lilly and Jack's investigation is going cold, and that's very sad.

I'll give DM kudos for speaking out at the beginning; and he isn't even Jack and Lilly's father.

A press conference. A week, a month, a year from now. LE at the podium, flanked by the mother. LE announces an arrest, whoever that may be. Mom may make a statement or her presence will make it for her.

To what end would posters on telephone poles advanced that?

To what end an early public statements, thanking searchers and supporters? If the children are deceased, the result of foul play, any statement she might make could jeopardize the investigation.

Passing/not passing a polygraph is pretty meaningless. We don't even know the questions. It's possible to have lied about something, have it flag as a lie, not something you've already cleared with LE. If LE says everybody passed, they may say that to provide false comfort to someone they're active tracking. It's a TOOL for LE, and often the TOOL has little to do with the questions and answers.

Maybe LE was gathering intel from a party who felt comfortable, felt LE was buying whatever they were selling.

Regardless of what LE is saying publicly, their actions tell me they don't need the public's help, the children aren't "lost" (in the wandered away way)and they're building a case.

Just because the mom hasn't made any public statements doesn't IMO mean she doesn't care. There will be a time for that.

Owning my bias. I think she's innocent of their disappearances. And as such, if she's able to brush her teeth, put on clothes and face each day, she's doing way more than many of us could, if indeed two littles are lost to hard violence.

The RCMP had recently stated there should be an update this week regarding their renewed search with cadaver dogs. Initially they stated they believed the children wandered into the woods, what supported that belief would be most interesting to know. Further, if that theory proves correct then their criminal investigation had nowhere to grow but cold.

I do think it's fair enough for people to wonder about the silence from their bio. mom; but maybe someday there will be a resolution and everything can be explained for the children's sake.
There's no animosity here towards either DM or MBM, but there are questions which is understandable.

If foul play, and someone is afraid of somebody else, they can explain that as well and people who want the kids found, will understand the ongoing silence ?

Still on the fence regarding involvement from any of the adults there when Lilly and Jack went missing.
There were also DM's mom and his brother residing there, iirc ?

LE early on ruled out abduction, and like the bolded above LE don't seem to be requesting help from anyone ?
IF there was foul play, may there be justice for Jack and Lilly.

Since no trace of their scent was found the beyond driveway , why wouldn't that be a possibility.
I do have faith that the RCMP are doing their due diligence in this investigation.

I'm not saying this is the case, we really don't know much about their relationship.
But in my experience, some victims will purposely stay out of the way of their abuser to prevent doing 'the wrong thing'. All MOO

I agree, it’s natural for people to wonder. And yes, it’s curious with this case that the RCMP have not asked the public for help aside from the standard inclusion of a phone number at the bottom of their scant four or five News Releases over the past five months. If it was a criminal investigation, that’s rather unusual. Infact LE has almost been as quiet as MBM.

RCMP conducted at least four polygraphs during their investigation — the first two were on May 12 with the children’s parents at the detachment at Bible Hill, N.S. Martell’s polygraph “indicated he was truthful,” as did the test for Brooks-Murray that found she was truthful when answering specific questions, although the list of questions is redacted in the document.

First bolded : Assuming here the kids were seen outside of a vehicle and in the store for it to be a verified sighting ?

Second bolded : It would be interesting to know what the questions were.

Since polygraphs are inadmissable in court , one would assume this is just part of the RCMP's investigation.
The results would also help to rule anyone out but LE have been silent about that.
The last public statement was that nothing was ruled out and everything on the table, iirc.

Yes that’s what was stated. But SAR dogs are definitely not 100% infallible and there could be reasons they were unable to track further. For example scent can be lost if there is a disturbance from too many people in the same area.

And if they did track only to the end of the driveway, the next question would be why the RCMP didn’t know of any evidence pointing to an abduction?
