MBM…….portrays herself as over stimulated and overwhelmed…..
……When the kids went missing MBM made a comment to her mum CM stating " I told you they were autistic " . Being a mum myself to an autistic child I'm speculating MBM was stating the kids were a flight ( escape ) risk and by her use of the wording " see I told you " I'm assuming prehaps CM did not believe the kids had possible autism prior?….
Excellent summary! Just borrowing a couple of your points in addition to it being mentioned that MBM talked to her mother on the phone 2 or 3 times every day. This gives me the impression the mother had a fair amount of influence over MBMs decision making. I wonder was she discouraging MBM from having the children tested for autism…..ie “it’s just the age they’re at, they’ll grow out of it”.
Meanwhile MBM is flailing and floundering in deep water if she’s not getting the support she requires if indeed she’s the parent two autistic children. What then? She seemed so frail and fragile to me when she gave that only interview. I sincerely hope she’s getting the support she needs now.
The greater tragedy is if Lilly and Jack had been tested and diagnosed as autistic, it likely would’ve changed the dynamics of the unsuccessful search for them at the onset. As we learned in the search for Darius Macdougall, loud noises and bright lights might’ve scared the children into deeper hiding, rather than aiding in finding them. Maybe it would’ve been wise to give the children the benefit of the doubt and readjust search tactics?
