I think it's important to remember, whatever may be normal or common for anyone else when it comes to their kid's teachers & first day of school, may not at all be the "normal" or common for other people in other places. Especially in more rural areas.

Interesting, I have a rural area residing daughter, the school has parent events, kindergarten round up events and meet the teacher before the first day begins. Typically not just one chance, and in the evenings to accommodate work schedules

Like many of you I am trying to understand why MBM would leave her partner and her residence in the days following the disappearance of J and L.

DM claims to have suspicions about what could have happened to his stepchildren as evidenced by his last statement in the latest interview...where he talks about "pointing fingers". I don't know if anyone has brought this up before but could he have insisted on these suspicions in the first few days following the disappearance of J and L and driven MBM to leave the residence? Perhaps she is afraid he will be correct and/or simply that she cannot stand to be in the same house where the suspicions are being thrown around.

She did, in fact she got a license plate or something for it the day before the kids disappeared.

I meant to ask about that actually. In my state, you renew your registration on your vehicle every year, and it's due on your birthday. You get a little sticker that shows that it's registered until your birthday the next year. If you miss it or you don't have the money to do it at the time that it's due, you can still drive your car, obviously, but you're at risk of being ticketed if a police officer sees you driving with expired tags. Does it work similarly in Canada? I'm just wondering if there's any significance to the fact that she did this the day before the kids disappeared.

I think there are a few small bodies of water close by, if I’m reading the maps right.

I’ve read that the blanket was found on Lansdowne Road or Lansdowne Station Road. If the truth is the latter, it was found close to that stream.

If the step-grandmother was planning to place a pool at the home, maybe they had the idea to go find fish or frogs for it. (Not understanding that the pool would be ready probably in June.)

When I was six I went missing for over a hour from the school grounds during recess. I wanted to go home to get something for show and tell. That’s why I now have it stuck in my head that if we knew what possibly motivated them to leave the property that morning, it might lead us to where they are.

Six year old me was excited about talking about my toys, and that overrode doing something against the rules. I also had no sense of how quickly time was going by, or that people would be concerned.

From what I can see you've highlighted a stream in your first image. The second image I think your seeing a trail, not a stream.

It's actually a pretty hilly area, combined with the dense forest it'd be a nightmare to search.

My speculation is that DM is "pointing fingers" at MBM's family members, partly because they apparently accused him first, and partly because they were the ones to find the blanket in the woods. A lot of what he's said has given me the impression that he's insinuating that MBM's family are attempting to somehow frame him for whatever happened to the children

Being kept out and awake so late at night might indicate no intention of kids going to school the next day? I would hope they weren't kept awake that late ordinarily on school nights??

MBM STATES IT WS THE COUPLE' NORMAL PRACTICE TO PUT THE KIDS DOWN FOR BED AT AROUND 7:30 PM. FWIW.

Since they were out so late and doubtful they were up so early, she must have judged they had bad coughs the night before? Did the security cams at the store show them coughing?

Did Lily take her backpack to bed with her because she really wanted to go to school the next day and she wanted to be ready to race out the door, already dressed? School could have been a safe environment of stability & care for her.
GREAT POINT AND MAY BE THE CASE

On being "hyper and wound up", there have been MANY accidental overdoses over the years of benadryl given to put kids to sleep quickly and on cue. Was benadryl found in the house?

SAD AND TRUE, THE COURT DOCS DON'T GIVE ANY INDICATION WHAT MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THAT REGARD.

Any idea how far this is from Daniel's mother's property they were living on?

That wrench, even wedged in, was still a hazard to the children and anyone else who might jerk hard on the door trying to get it open. That woukd def have been noted in a home visitation and inspection by child protective services.

In Nova Scotia and most of Canada the registration renewal date is based on a preset month associated to the first letter of the last name, in this case ‘B’ for Brooks. Google indicates the expiry month for ‘B’ is February and registration can be completed two months in advance. Unless Brooks isn’t a legal last name it wouldn’t appear registration was due in May, unless the vehicle was expired for a few months.

Curious, where’s it said she renewed her registration the day before the children went missing?
