"As soon as I seen they were gone, immediately jumped in the car and did all the dirt roads, all the culverts, checked over the rivers and streams. As soon as I got home 10 minutes later, I headed out on foot.”

Prehaps it felt like 10mins but it does seem like such a short space of time [ 10 minutes] to cover all those areas .

In this statement he says he headed out on foot upon his return , but yet I seem to recall when he returned, the rcmp had arrived and from documents or different article he states he was told not to go back into the woods ,so I'm assuming the rcmp told him this after he searched in the vehicle and on foot

He afaik jumped into MBM's car and not into his own. The neighbors by night heard his own loud car, at least one neighbor. Why changing the cars: by night a loud one, by day a much less noisy one? Except the noise, why did he change the car at all? Shouldn't MBM get to know, that he drove HER "new" car by night? Didn't she hear anything over the night? How soundly does she sleep?

A car that was apparently off the road in need of repair ?

Or was it an atv and not a car . Some atvs can be noisy and also have very bright headlights and in intial reports it was stated it was a five speed which can indicate an off road vehicle

I was wondering about that, too

Wow, I couldn't do all that in 10 minutes...

It seems an unnecessary detail. Especially given his claims that he saw/heard them in the morning.
It may look so. But I think all he says is very important, even if does not have much sense at first (e.g. him saying in the early CBC interiew something like "the neighbor wants to take a heat off themselves" which is clearly a deflection). And we need to listen.

Thank you for finding that link! I find that to be such a strange reaction, and I do view it as "reactive" rather than "intentional". That is, he reactively drove to another location to look for the children in a culvert. If he had been innocently thinking about where they wandered, wouldn't he start by checking the area around the house first, checking vehicles, under the mobile home, the chicken coop, checked with his mother, then checked farther away? Checking a culvert down the road first seems unnatural.
