Roughly 9°/2°. But if it's wrong, blame Google.
Yeah freezing cold , would kids want to go out exploring in that ?? The forest floor full of debris would be slippy too in Wellington boots

Dozens of volunteers will be out searching this weekend for Lilly and Jack Sullivan in hopes they’ll find clues about the Nova Scotia siblings more than six months after their disappearance.

The renewed search in Pictou County is being led by the Ontario-based not-for-profit group, Bring Me Home.

The group’s co-founder, Nick Oldrieve, says the renewed efforts will focus on the banks along the Middle River.

*****
Oldrieve says about 40 local residents are volunteering with the search this Saturday, covering a vast area directly across the road from the children’s home. The search will begin at dawn and last until dusk, with a possibility of carrying into Sunday if necessary.

*****
Here's hoping for a safe and successful search!

Like many I've seen in other posts I looked up the river after reading the article. Apparently it is hidden just across the street from L & J's home, down what appears to be, at least in Google Street View, a heavily forested ~20ft incline.

Snooping around in street view, just to the east of their home there's a bridge over the river on Macleod Rd. The street view is dated August 2025, in the middle of what's been described as a severe 100 year drought for that area of Nova Scotia, there is still water in the river/stream. In May, when they went missing, the water level would've been substantially higher due to the spring melt of snow.

Yeah I always thought it was way too cold for them to go for a walk, especially if they disappeared early in the morning. It apparently was not a good weather either.

Nothing about the children wearing jackets that day. Considering the time of year, I’d think putting on a jacket every morning would be normal routine. I wonder where their jackets were kept, maybe somewhere that was too high to for them to reach? But just nothing at all about it although the morning was indeed chilly.

Or prehaps the jackets were in the laundry bag 🤔

I know my 4 year old grandson will go out in all sorts of weather , bare feet in lashings of rain etc but he does hate the cold and at 1 and 2°C he will say he doesn't like the cold biting his face and hands so I don't know if he would actively play out in that cold without a jacket

I wonder does it reroute underground. I do recall looking at aerial photos of the martell Property and just down the end of the yard to the left is what looks like a Brook or small river . At the time I did think it was a spring

I wonder who owns the property across the road from the Martel's? Government? Private?

It is 25 acres and does have a house on it, on a portion that juts down to Lansdown Station Road. So must be private.

Even by the time Middle River gets to Concord Bridge, according to pics on google maps, it’s a bit of a stretch to refer to it as a river but in the springtime the volume would likely be much greater than any other time of year, especially this year with the extreme dryness throughout the summer.

Somewhere online there’s a map that indicates private versus crown land (govt) but sorry I didn’t keep the link. I recall finding it because I was interested in hunting season. I noticed there was very little crown land around Lansdowne Station, probably because it was an active community more than a century ago when the railway first came through.

Yes, it’s a culvert. A big metal pipe goes under the road. There are also culverts (with no pipes) that are ditches at the front of some rural properties here.

I was thinking of this today because on my SM feed there was a story about a murder victim being located in one. (Old story).

Daniel said he checked culverts before the police arrived.

Yes Daniel said it was one of the first things he checked after racing around the trailer.

I wonder if the river was in his train of thought as a possible reason for prehaps the kids wandering out of the yard and further than normal boundaries

Maybe they took the kids swimming there.

The 20 foot incline mentioned up thread doesn't exactly sound kid friendly.
Prehaps they stumbled down it and that was the alleged scream Daniel thought he heard .

Anyone know how soon the helicopter was up Daniel said the scream he thought he heard was drown out by them

Just curiosity The unverified vehicle that was allegedly heard turning or stopping at a certain point on the road . Does that point give access to the river .

Hypothetically speaking if the time line is somehow off because of fears or whatever and the kids went missing sometime during the night or early hours ( the vehicle was reported to be heard up until 5am ) would it have stopped to gain access to this river because they feared drowning ? Could the excitements before bed be about swimming ?, Daniel almost immediately began searching water areas too .

The timeline would have to be way off, and the evidence of the adults ignored. Grandma heard the kids playing and was rather specific about the time because she had made or received a phone call.

She did base her statement of hearing the kids around the phone call at 8.48 am but she initially stated it was before it then subsequently changed that to afterward its in the documents previously posted .

So it would appear she was unsure at first . So the fact she had doubted the timeline can the subsequent timing she claims to have heard the kids be taken with absolute certainty ?
