Another article in the globe and mail

What was removed as evidence during the search
Not sure if you were thinking this was new today - this article was published August 22nd. There was a new article today in the Globe and Mail, similar to the CBC article I posted in the morning, but with a bit more info as is usually the case with the Globe and Mail articles on this story. I just didn’t bother linking it as it is paywalled.
IMO

The article linked by @su5ie is new to some of us like me but good to know it's not actually recent.

I don't think so, it mentions evidence found / collected, a sock and a piece of purple fabric.

I’m a G and M subscriber and was able to look it up and it is def from Aug 22nd. I’m not objecting to posting an older article, as Seaside Forest indicated, it might be new to some folks. I just wondered if Su5ie intended to post the one from today is all.
IMO

I remember the G&M article from Aug 22, 2025, I think most of us that follow here do, but I can honestly say, the sock and purple material found were news to me. I'll take your word for it that they were mentioned back in August though.

Correct. It says "published 7 minutes ago" because that is from when it was scraped. But if you look at the archive date, (top right corner), it says, "22 Aug 2025 16:37:47 UTC"

So the picture now painted includes a lot of financial stress. And the bio father of the older kids cannot pay for their care anymore. And that stress leads to lots of fighting between the 2 adults in the home, some desperation, escalating to some shoving and forceful threats.

I wonder if stepdad wondered if it would be easier without the 2 older kids, and that maybe they could get back on track if it was just the 3 of them?

I just archived the globe and mail article. Nothing really new there. Except maybe that apparently the RCMP has unreleased highly personal information that MBM's lawyers are arguing against releasing.

Archived Globe and Mail article: Mother of missing N.S. children complained of intimate partner violence to police, court documents show
Google:
What are examples of intimate partner violence?

Intimate Partner Violence
  • Physical violence: hitting, pushing, grabbing, biting, choking/strangulating, shaking, slapping, kicking, hair-pulling, restraining.
  • Sexual violence: attempted or actual sexual contact when the partner does not want to or is unable to consent (for example, when affected by alcohol or illness)
How to identify intimate partner violence?

Signs can include when your partner:
  1. Insults you with sexual, degrading names.
  2. Forces or pressures you into sexual acts.
  3. Restrains or strangles you during sex without your consent.
  4. Involves others in sex without your consent.
  5. Forces you to watch or make pornography.

@Slebby I did think it was new as the date under the heading was yesterday but because I clicked in from your article it was probably just displaying that date

Sorry for the confusion

Glad i got an opportunity to read both as I hadn't seen either @Bigditch and @BCSleuth

Wonder will the new documents be available to read like the intial docs that were released 🤔

I think this is saying these aren’t new documents. It’s unsealed portions of the redacted information in the documents that were previously released afew months ago.

“These new allegations came to light when the RCMP recently released previously redacted portions of court documents as a result of a media application before a Nova Scotia judge. The application sought the release of more information connected to the early stages of the RCMP investigation into the children’s disappearance.
The documents were obtained by National Post on Thursday from the Nova Scotia Courts office.”

I notice this article was edited the same day it was published. Did anyone else read it before the edit? Otherwise I can’t prove this with a link although I might check out archives, but to the best of my recollection…

I’m certain this is where I read the Maleyha’s attorney was in court arguing against any more unsealing of her five interviews, something to do with respect pertaining to her indigenous heritage and possible prejudice from the public. I don’t recall a specific reason mentioned beyond the impression I got from quickly reading it. It also stated DM had no objection to any unsealing.

DM talking in this article
When reached by phone Thursday, Martell denied the allegations, saying they are part of a narrative designed to make him look evil. “I never abused Malehya,” he said. “But the narrative was set that Daniel is an evil person …. You can see all the allegations online. It's absolutely insane.

Asked about the allegation that he hurt his partner when he tried to take her phone, Martell said, “Allegations to make me seem evil. It didn't happen.

From the linked article. It sounds as if he is saying that on May 2nd, the day the children went missing, an online narrative that he is evil and which didn't exist yet is what made MBM say these things about him which makes zero sense.

He can't be suggesting that the online narrative came from MBM's interview with RCMP because this information was only recently released to the public. Yes, we heard from family members who suggested all was not peachy keen with the two adults but until just now we didn't know what specifically MBM had said in that interview.

🎯 In my opinion. I don't think it's a coincidence that the only child that's not missing from that household is his biological child.

I think he is referring to the online narrative that he was being suspected since day 1 on FB .

I think he is deflecting and he is trying to say its everyone's else's fault that this narrative came about and mbm wouldn't be making up these claims if it weren't for everyone else influencing her ( I know she is not making up these allegations)

One of the first red flags for me that this was a controlling , possibly abusive relationship was him stating the kids don't listen to Maleyha they only come to me . It was a real put down of her mothering skills and when voiced so publicly he wasn't shy about belittling her in front of others

From the linked article, I got the impression he was referring to the same stuff we've heard for months now. And I mean he's not wrong, there HAVE been lots of people online pushing the narrative that he's a rotten person, abusive, etc.

Did they have an abusive relationship? Who knows. It wouldn't surprise me. But at the end of the day, none of this he said/she said is helping locate these kids.
