I saw this case on my fb newsfeed. My immediate thoughts, the children didn’t wander off. After skimming the thread, my thoughts are, the children didn’t wander off. If the children are supposedly autistic (as reported by the SF up thread) I cannot see that an autistic child would do this. I suspect they are both somewhere on the property. I hope I am wrong and they are safe somewhere.

Here’s a case where an autistic child wandered off.

I’m curious as to why you cannot see it happening, and what this story does to that conclusion.

They talk about how they tell them not to go outside , and they always watch them, but clearly thats not the case, not that day anyway. They got out of an unlocked and silent screen door.( allegedly)

5 days and no trace? no knapsack, no pull up, Those drones have some pretty good capabilities, heat seeking , they can detect colors that are very small. I mean its still spring the trees arent even full yet, how dense can it be?

lots of emphasis from the adults about how they have taught the children never to go outside alone and that they are always with them when outdoors and only take them into the woods back towards the cabins they have built back there. But then also emphasis on the "silent" back sliding door.

I don't love it I must say. trying to stay hopeful but this feels more and more off.

and a lot of talk about how friendly they are, how they will talk to anyone, they will talk your ear off, and will go with anyone if you ask them if they want candy or to go see mom etc...and there are footprints to the hwy,
Mom wants an amber alert. I wasnt convinced tho.
If the kids are that friendly, surely she has talked to them about stranger danger. Abduction ? IDK, what are the odds?

and at least if its super dense over in Nova Scotia, that gives a litle more hope.

I read that too, thinking it might’ve taken awhile for the RCMP to organize a search, including arranging manpower from other detachments to arrive at the site. It wouldn’t have happened immediately following the 911 call. JMO

That is how I took what he was saying. Only in a previous interview he said he "immediately" jumped into his truck and began searching the roads and culvers and when he returned to the trailer the authorities had arrived (because mom called police "instantly" when the children were discovered missing).

I guess I am just trying to figure out when all this running through the brush searching "everywhere" ahead of the drones and helicopters took place.

I wonder why he has lately expanded his searching activity on that first morning?
Firstly he said - he jumped straight in his car as soon as he noticed they were missing and drove all around looking for them.

Now he's said he was wading through water and running through woods until the search team stopped him..

There are rules for Amber Alerts because it affects millions of people. Too many Amber Alerts and no one will pay attention to them. Probably there must be evidence of child abduction and we do not have that here.

Martell told us yesterday morning how he searched:
"there is a dense forest and rough streams and he, himself searched 20 or 30 acres when they first went missing. “I did all around the house in the four-wheeler, ATV. I did as much as I could on the first day and the second day,” says Martell."

If it’s a fact there were fresh, clear footprints toward the highway why have hundreds of searchers, plus helicopters, drones and dogs wasted five days now looking in the area around the house?

Perhaps a traffic cam or someone's CCTV indicated no traffic whatsoever around the time the children went missing and that’s why LE are not high on a kidnapping taking place?

It’s puzzling why both the mother and step-father have been suggestive of abduction since almost the beginning. Would they sooner the little ones were found safe, but cold and hungry huddling beside a big old log or taken away somewhere by a perverted maniac?

It could be both. If my kids went missing, it would be both. I'd check the road first, because that's the easiest to see, and then check the bush. And I'd be frantic and might not recall exactly how long I was checking in either place.

I'd be way more concerned if he didn't run around checking everywhere.

Yes that’s right and an Amber Alert requires a description of the abductor or their vehicle so the general public can assist by identifying him or her. It’s not so much about searching for missing children as it is finding the perp who has them.

So the BF of mom is claiming the kids didn't go to school... Monday to Thursday- at least that's what "all week" to me means.

BOYFRIEND - We were searching, we covered everywhere possible, even in the first day we did, even with me running through the woods, I was ahead of the helicopters, ahead of the drones and stuff like that, screaming, screaming loud as I can, just.. until my throat hurt, running through water that was up to my waist. And as soon as I got back, I wasn't allowed back in the woods until a man dressed in military outfit said I could go back into the woods.

REPORTER - Four days into the search for his missing step kids, Lily and Jack Sullivan, Daniel Martel is pleading with the public to keep their eyes peeled, but he has begun to lose hope they are anywhere in the vicinity.

BOYFRIEND - They hate being wet and cold, so they immediately would have came right back into the house. The only two prints are right beside the house, facing the road, and then that's it.

REPORTER - Martel wants the search to be extended to include provincial borders in case the children were abducted, a reality, he says is becoming more and more likely.

BOYFRIEND - Post any officers they can get, have them to (?) border, (?) border, and get them at every, every airport possible.

REPORTER - Martel confirmed that when the two children went missing from the home behind me, Lily was wearing a pink shirt and pink rain boots. She was also carrying a white backpack with strawberries on it. Martel says, although he didn't see Jack that morning, he is believed to be wearing a brown shirt, brown pants with a pull up diaper on underneath, and blue rain boots with dinosaurs on them. He also refuted the claim that the two children are non verbal, saying, while they are on the autism spectrum, they are quite trusting and say hi to everyone. According to Martell, his side of the family are currently the only ones at Ground Zero after Lily and Jack's mother left the county Saturday, but still he remains, begging anyone with answers to come forward and bring his children home safe.

This is where IMO he should just shut it. It probably the first time the media has shown the slightest bit of interest in him and so he’s anxiously thinking he must answer their questions. Meanwhile the public is analyzing what he says and he’s clearly not a practised public speaker, not even a clear speaker.

Doesn’t necessarily indicate he’s not telling the truth, just that his words are coming from his panicked perspective and seems he doesn’t want to be judged (can’t blame him for that).

And what about the other trailer ? Kids could have gone there but he didn't check?
I'm not sure anymore about what's being reported, or are stories changing?
