this conference is sounding to me they know these children have come to harm.

Just collecting further evidence to be able to make an arrest IMO
I sure hope not but with them gone this long, the possible outcomes appear to point toward recovery efforts now and death by either misadventure or foul play :(

IMO this has also so far stressed that they have nothing from the SEARCH.

Q & A period w press:

what is the purpose of going over areas already searched?

we will go back to areas that we feel maybe we should look at again. We are not giving up. Due to terrain, we may be able to locate something that wasn't caught the first time. We don't want to leave and we are not leaving just that this part of the search will be scaled back.

I would like someone to ask whether heat seeking equipment from the air was used in the first two nights of searching.

Very good at redirecting questions

Probably looking a bit more closely for shallow graves or other physical evidence. Don't think I can give my theory here, so I won't.

I’m pretty sure it was reported they did

Agree with this also - relooking at areas for something different than the obvious children unfortunately

Regarding school and Jack, at four years old, still wearing a diaper.. I thought children had to be potty trained before they could go to pre-school, or is it different in Canada?

A pull up isn’t a diaper, per se. It’s possible Jack still has problems waking up to go the bathroom and he wears a pull up only at bedtime and during the day, he’s in underwear.

The majority of child care facilities require the child to be potty trained.

Unless there is diapering related to ASD, I would assume that would be permitted there as it would in the US under an education plan?

Q: can you define what scaled back searching looks like? Is it less people, less resources, . .

[paraphrased] We will look in on the search divisions and with their senior management to see whatever we can do to check spots that we want to look at more closely but after today you wont see all these searchers here.

Amy Hason described the terrain as hard, described some of the difficulty of the search due to the geography

Seems what they’re saying without saying it that searching for alive children is different than looking where bodies might be located.

As far as questions about a possible criminal element, it’s dodgeball. Rep claims investigation is following the same process of every missing persons investigation analyzing all the information as it becomes available, can’t comment….

Possible bootprint yielded no discoveries.

Posted 8 minutes ago by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia:

“As of today, a multi-agency search for two missing children, six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan, will be scaled back.

Lily and Jack were reported missing on May 2, at approximately 10 a.m. It’s believed they wandered away from their home on Gairloch Rd. in Lansdown Station, Pictou County.

This search has included many agencies, including volunteer ground search and rescue teams from all surrounding areas and New Brunswick, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, the Nova Scotia Guard, the Salvation Army, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Department of Natural Resources Air Services, Nova Scotia Public Safety and Field Communications, Canada Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 5, and several RCMP units, including Police Dog Services, drone operators, and our Major Crime Unit.

‘It has been an all-hands-on-deck effort, using every available resource and tool,’ says Staff Sergeant Curtis MacKinnon, District Commander for Pictou County District RCMP. ‘We’re transitioning from a full-scale search to searches in smaller, more specific areas; we’ll be retracing our steps to ensure all clues have been found.’

Since the search began on May 2, it has been concentrated in the Gairloch Rd. area and has covered four square kilometres of heavily wooded, rural terrain. Up to 160 trained volunteer searchers, along with many others, have been involved in the search each day. Tens of thousands of search hours have been dedicated to scouring the area, and GSAR has confirmed that over 100 tracks have been laid using GPS and grid searches.

Efforts to locate Lily and Jack have also included two vulnerable missing persons alerts. One was issued in Pictou County on May 2. And on May 3, a broadcast intrusive alert was issued to Antigonish, Colchester, and Pictou counties.

‘I want to assure Nova Scotians that our missing persons investigation continues,’ says Staff Sergeant MacKinnon. ‘Our focus remains on finding Lily and Jack. Our best investigators are working every aspect of this file, and our work won’t stop until we know where Lily and Jack are and can bring them home.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips app.

Our thoughts are with the children’s loved ones and the community at this difficult time.

are radios about to pick up? [a train coming by is interfering with audio and they are waiting to answer that question.] The train passed slowly out of respect for the ongoing MP investigation and search.

Q: have you found any evidence

smaller boot impression was found, searchers set out from that area and nothing else was found

Q: have you used cadaver dogs?

I don't believe cadaver dogs have been used at this point. They may be employed next. That could be something we utilize at this point but I cannot confirm if cadaver dogs are coming at this point or not.

A pull up is a bit different from a regular diaper. They can also be used merely for protection and at night time. At the pre kindergarten level, I do not think it is that uncommon to have children wearing them. imo

A doctors note would suffice if there was indeed a problem with a child wearing them in pre-kindergarten. IMO

"likelihood that they are alive" is very low.

the likelihood that the children are alive right now is very low.

Search and rescue teams across Canada are getting some help from drones equipped with thermal-imaging technology. It's currently being used by RCMP in the search for two missing children in Nova Scotia, Lily Sullivan and Jack Sullivan. The CBC's Cassidy Chisholm explains how it works.
