Anyone that has a 401k or similar retirement funds should be extremely concerned. I am currently on a 2 day wait list to speak/meet with my financial advisor.

This is all a mess. A great big, self-inflicted, needless mess.
WASHINGTON, March 11 (Reuters) - President Donald Trumpon Tuesday doubled his planned tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum products from Canada to 50%, in response to the province of Ontario's decision to place a 25% tariff on its electricity exports to the U.S.
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social media platform that he has instructed his commerce secretary to add an additional 25% tariff on the metals products that will go into effect on Wednesday morning.
It's another Russia and Ukraine problem. The USA thinks it can waltz over to Canada, declare ownership, and Canadians will say yes. As a ridiculous carrot, the USA government declared that Canadians would pay lower taxes. What stupidity! This is all a mess. A great big, self-inflicted, needless mess.
What's the point of having a government when a realtor and a car salesman are running the country? It seems like those two men have spent a lot of time dreaming of world domination, but neither was able to sort out the logistics.AND it is all done by Executive Order, outside of the advisement of Congressional scrutiny and leadership.
A new bill introduced to the United States House of Representatives would withhold federal funding for any American “operations to invade or seize territory from” Canada, Panama or Greenland -- unless Congress agrees to it first, that is.
Introduced Thursday by Rhode Island Rep. Seth Magaziner, the No Invading Allies Act would require U.S. President Donald Trump to seek a formal declaration of war, congressional approval or proof of a “national emergency created by attack or imminent threat of attack” to authorize offensive military action against the places mentioned above.
U.S. Congress bill aims to prevent funding of invasion of Canada“Congress has allowed Presidents to engage in temporary hostilities for up to 60 days without Congressional approval,” reads a Thursday release from Magaziner’s office. “However, President Trump’s reckless rhetoric on territorial expansion makes clear that he cannot be trusted with unchecked war powers.”
It's the typical response from USA government supporters as well. They cheer that the USA is warring against Canada. That is followed by threats that Canada better not react.![]()

Trump says Canada will pay big 'financial price'
Trump writes: "Why would our Country allow another Country to supply us with electricity, even for a small area?"
"Can you imagine Canada stooping so low as to use ELECTRICITY, that so affects the life of innocent people, as a bargaining chip and threat?
"They will pay a financial price for this so big that it will be read about in History Books for many years to come!"
Trump is one sandwich short of a picnic imo
Everyone expects the USA government to be truthful. The USA government has repeatedly stated, over months, that the USA does not need anything from Canada.
If that is true, why is the USA government having a full blown meltdown that Ontario has changed the price of electricity? What difference does it make since the USA needs nothing from Canada?
Is the USA government lying?

The USA government is using food as a bargaining chip with Canada, but apparently that's not a problem for the federal government. Depriving people of food is okay, depriving them of turning on the lights is not okay.
The USA government is so predictable. They knew a month ago that lurching tariffs would trigger a response from Canada. As soon as Canada does respond, there's the silly USA government sitting there pretending to be innocent victims. Some people in the USA are so out-to-lunch that they think the war hasn't yet started, even though it started a month ago.
Dem seeks to halt Trump from 'invading' Greenland, Canada and PanamaHouse Democrats have launched an effort to bar President Donald Trump from unilaterally moving to "invade or seize territory" from Greenland, Canada and Panama.
The measure, known as the No Invading Allies Act and spearheaded by Rep. Seth Magaziner, D-R.I., bars funding from going toward the armed forces to engage in operations seeking to take over Greenland, Canada and Panama.
Magaziner said Trump’s "reckless" rhetoric about obtaining territory from the three countries makes the president untrustworthy with the war powers granted to him.

yeah, frustrating. Trump announces plans to penalize Canada with tariffs. Canada responds with promise to enact their own tariffs (tit meet tat) then Trump stays his intended tariffs temporarily and Canada, rather than stay theirs, moves forward, following through on their threat. Canada met his bluff but somehow THEY are the bad guys. GMAFB.It's the typical response from USA government supporters as well. They cheer that the USA is warring against Canada. Coupled with the threats to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, this is looking to be a very difficult financial time for seniors in the US.
It is especially grim for seniors in nursing homes or care homes when Medicaid funds are reduced.
AND it is all done by Executive Order, outside of the advisement of Congressional scrutiny and leadership.
