As the mother of two young adult sons, I thought about this in the same way, too (and Johns Hopkins has some of the best for orthopedic surgery). The only thing is that if the surfing accident was effectively the final straw in his need for surgery, I was thinking he probably would have found a flight from Hawaii back to Baltimore intolerable. If his mother also has neuralgia pain, she might not have been able to travel/fly that far distance either. Just a thought.I think most people, especially young people, would want to be close to their family when having such a serious surgery. And I'd think his parents would want him home.
Hopefully we will learn a lot during the trial. OMO.
