Luigi Mangione is expected to appear in Manhattan Supreme Court Monday for his arraignment on state murder and terrorism charges, according to DA Alvin Bragg’s office, which is coordinating with federal authorities.

Wonder how they will top the last spectacle (when he arrived).
I guess a parade is out of the question.
Good news for the mayor, he won't need to hustle to get a float ready.

This guy is not a common criminal, as what happened here opens the door to something far larger and much more terrifying.

This is different than every other murder case I’ve ever followed; there’s no comparison other than this guy killed someone.

The broader concern, which I believe to be very real, is that this is going to become the new way of settling scores.

Copycats targeting politicians, business leaders, anyone that people disagree with. Your difference of opinion is a justification for murder.

Your common murder does not have these implications. So you respond by throwing the book at him.

What you do not do, is create a spectacle that undermines what you are trying to achieve. What they are doing is the opposite of what their goal is.

They are turning a cold blooded killer into a martyr with these optics.

Earlier today I had responded to a post that was saying something similar to one of your statements here...

The US of A is a very different animal in 2024. Divisiveness is the way of the day, and there does not seem to be anything in the near future that is going to change that. Divisiveness breeds righteousness, and righteousness breeds violence.... and that IS going to become the new way of settling scores.

Luigi just came along at a perfect time. A perfect storm.

I just feel that we are going to be seeing more and more animals escaping the zoo...

Murder isn't how you change the system. And Mangione didn't even have UHC or know his victim!
My post makes sense when you follow the op's post I commented on. Whether or not normal citizens will feel comfortable applying the term terrorism to what he did.

Can't they just do this via Zoom??? ugh...

I guess his attorney wants this in person...More theater, more theater....

Adams, NYPD or the Powers that Be who arrange these things: Please be more discrete during Perp Walk 2.0!

No chance they could free him/try to, those police guys were armed with machine guns and would not have hesitated to use them
But a perfect opportunity for someone to kill him!

I still cannot fathom why the US authorities do this with high-profile suspects. It's mind-bogglingly dumb and should surely have ended with a particular extremely high-profile arrestee 61 years ago??

(Will this be the name of a movie??)
There are three photos out, and I'm not sure if I can post them ( sources/approved), but they are three pics of 3 different suspects and their transport.
Brian Kohberger
Luigi Mangione
Rex Heuerman ( LISK)
Big difference.

It's a quirk of NY law apparently, and it will be explained to the jury in jury instructions. I'm sure of that, and I don't live in NY and am not a lawyer.

Luigi Mangione is being held in a 9-by-7-foot solitary-confinement cell at the federal jail in Brooklyn that also houses the rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and the cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried, Business Insider has learned

The trio could be living together in the same 15-man protective-custody unit as early as Monday, Sam Mangel, a prison consultant who has knowledge of Mangione's housing, said.

"I was at a conference a few days ago with the top CEOs — IBM, Deloitte — it was a room full of CEOs and government officials; and the shooting, the intentional shooting, and the response after, really traumatized the entire industry — not only the CEOs, but the employees."

The facility, the only federal jail in New York City, has been plagued by problems since it opened in the 1990s. In recent years, its conditions have been so stark that some judges have refused to send people there. It has also been home to a number of high-profile inmates, including R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.

Epstein was at MCC - See post below by @sds71 regarding MCC temp closed

Systemic problems at the Federal Bureau of Prisons as well as several issues at New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center, the jail in which Epstein was incarcerated when he died, contributed to one of the BOP's most high profile inmates taking his own life, the report released Tuesday said.

LM spent months planning the whole thing in incredible detail, but it would have all gone to waste if BT had stepped out of his hotel with the UHC heavily armed close protection team, with a gun that had to be reloaded after each shot LM would be eliminated after the first shot, all that planning gone to waste, the CP team were used to accompany Witty to the Hilton but not BT. How did LM know that BT would be without the CP team, somehow he did, he had to have someone on the inside who knew BT’s security arrangements.
Yes, and why not Target Witty- the higher up? Possible inside info on BT not having security. Imo.
