So LM's attorney describes herself as a "special needs mom" in this interview. I think we can already see that part of her playing out in the courtroom with this case.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but it doesn't look identical to the grainy photos/videos we saw prior to LM's arrest. Maybe it's because the silencer is missing?

But I remember seeing on one video what looked like a manual twist ejection after every shot, which is why experts said it was probably the B&T Station Six gun.
I wonder if he had two guns or if this is the same one, and we're just not seeing the silencer.

I’d have to disagree with some of your theories.

Female Tom, Dick, Harry here——most of us New Yorkers do not have guns. Here it is primarily the criminal element who carry guns illegally.

Not a crime to throw away your snack in the garbage, but that was major evidence since LE has it recorded on camera. They know which bottle and wrappers were his and therefore evidence of his fingerprints on them helped to sort out his identity.

Personally, I don’t think LM wanted to be found. If that were true, he could have surrendered at any police station, he wouldn’t have worn a mask for the majority of the time, and he wouldn’t have followed such a complicated and circuitous means of escape.

I put much credence into his letters and notebook. To me they both are evidence of intent, prove motive, and are a confession, although he’s defensive and not repentant about the murder.

I also don’t agree that every “Tom, Dick and Harry” thinks the videos and photos of LM are of different people, nor that the videos are “hmm.” Rather, I see the videos as “whoa!” He’s caught; the matter was in finding him and thanks to the good people of Altoona, he was.

All naturally just my opinion.

Before they arrested him, I thought someone else might be involved because we couldn't figure out where he got the bike or how he got rid of it before hopping the bus. Also, because in some of the photos--the noses just didn't look compatible to me. That, of course, could be lighting.

But then they arrested him, and it sure seems like they got their guy. But, the gun they found on him doesn't look like the one in the shooting video. So, I wondered if he could have had two guns and ditched the one used to kill. But, then again, could there be another person?

I read an account about him being radicalized. If that's true, who radicalized him?

Occam's Razor says it's him. But I have a lot of questions.

Except that Brian Thompson was innocent and no matter what decisions he made, he didn't deserve to be cold-bloodedly shot in the back by a coward.

I disagree, I have great sympathy towards insurance providers. People cannot be covered for all treatments, experimental or established. There is simply not enough money to do that. It is reasonable to establish a treatment that will help the most people. And it is reasonable for those who need extra care and treatment to advocate for add'l care. JMO

That’s a consideration that holds value, though a super “hot button” I know I’m pry not supposed to counter here in this sub. The visual is the king eating his lobster in front of those who just need their medications to be covered. No sympathy. And yes BT still deserves justice.

Well I think we all here know that's how it works tbh, my point I was trying to make is that their single pieces of evidence and corroborating evidence doesn't seem enough in a way, even stacked. Like I personally believe that it's LM and him alone. I believe that he wanted to be found and he wanted to be found with exactly what he had on him, but there's a lot that can be argued and reasonable doubt brought in imo. The surveillance footage they have shown, it's all very hmmm and you've got every tom dick and harry saying that it's not the same person in the released footage and I can't think how they can possibly prove BRD that it was visually from CCTV. The DNA, I'm yet to see anything concrete from LE/Feds regarding it, but as far as I'm aware it's DNA on the kind bar wrapper and water bottle found NEARBY to the crime scene, some have said it was on top of the bin near the Starbucks, so again every tom dick and harry is saying is it a crime to have a snack and bin your rubbish? The fingerprints, again not much concrete that we have seen from the officials, but what's been said is that there are partial on the rubbish... nothing about the shell casings that I've seen (unless anyone has an official source) We have the 'letter to the feds' found on him, yah very condemning I think, though, nowhere in the letter does it detail the crime or the victim, it simply expresses a huge chew on and could be argued that it's not an admittance of guilt of the crime of murder. The notebooks, I think these are the best bits of evidence the prosecution has, they name UHC and the conference but not the victim (that we know of yet). The fake ID, weapon and silencer, the fake ID is the same one used in the hostel they say, ok seems sus but that's ties into the CCTV mentioned above. The gun and silencer are naughty, like why would a lad be in a McDonald's with a gun he made on a printer? I hate to say this but it's America and almost every tom dick and harry has a firearm... Like I said they will have all kinds of ballistics run and they may very well match the spent rounds to the gun found with him, it's how the courts and jury take it as many believe certain types of ballistics is "junk science"... Now add on that there's no view of the shooters face on CCTV committing the crime ... Now to remember that the juries will be filled with your everyday tom dick and harry. I'm just not 100% sure that they have enough beyond a reasonable doubt. Ofc they will have kept a bunch back, they always do so I'll say, they wanna hope they have a slam dunk bit of irrefutable evidence in their back pockets as I don't think they're going to have as easy of a time as some people on here think they are with this one.

Well fortunately imo all the Tom, Dick and Harry’s will be weeded out/disqualified via the voir dire process. In other words, it doesn’t matter what every Tom, Dick, or Harry on the interwebs and/or general public at large that knows about/follows the case thinks since barring some sort of plea deal, it all comes down to what an IMPARTIAL jury thinks/decides after evaluating ALL of the evidence presented at trial.

Having said that, just based on the evidence/corroborating evidence we know about so far which you’ve outlined much of in your well thought out post, imo is enough to send LM away for life, and remember, we do not know what else the state/feds have on this guy. To protect the integrity of the investigation, LE/the feds of course aren’t going to release all of the evidence they have in their possession to the public. I’m especially curious what his laptop or any other potential computer or other device(s) he had access to that LE/the feds surely confiscated and are likely still in the process of uncovering digital data and examining/analyzing it as we speak. At any rate, I expect the FBI digital forensics experts will likely uncover the proverbial ‘treasure trove’ of digital evidence which if so, will only boost their already close to slam dunk as you can get evidence against LM.

As long as an unbiased/impartial jury is seated, after all evidence against LM presented imo any jury able to connect dots so to speak, using logic, common sense will likely come to a hands down guilty verdict. I also agree with others that barring a plea deal, LM’s attorneys only hope is to try to mitigate his sentence using some sort of MH reason/argument, just don’t know what LM himself will want to do, agree/go along with.
I guess he’ll have to decide whether he wants to go away for life or agree to use mitigating MH argument and have a shot at getting out in something like 35-40 years when he’s in his 60’s and if he’s lucky and stays healthy post release, might get to live 20-25 or more years among the free world. Not bad considering what he robbed BT and his kids/loved ones of.

It's all very well stating all those things about how he was top of the class, was brilliant at everything and came from a good family and suchlike. That doesn't mean, however, that he hasn't been an evil, narcissistic raging psychopath his whole life. The two are completely unconnected and the statement "something changed" is pure speculation.

Even his own mother is reputed to have said it's something I could see him doing . That might be untrue, of course.

I tend to agree with your assessment of him- he can be both things at once. The charming social aspect of him can be him manipulating other people. I used to know a kid very similar to Mangione in personality and looks (but different nationality), and he did have well-hidden (by his mother) psychological issues. I found out alot about this kid after we cut ties with this family.
