How did they trace him to the hostel?

I’m guessing that his two bunk mates in his room contacted LE. This was all over the news and photos were released quickly. They had supposedly said he never removed his mask.

I believe thru videos tracing him back there? Could have been somebody at the hostel identifying him from the video of the killing, but I thought I had read it was from street cameras.

we know from LE that the perp was seen with an E-bike battery at 5am. He did not emerge from the subway at 6;15 with that battery. He must have handed it off. No way it went in his backpack. No way he put it on the bike and went back into the subway. That makes no sense. Tell me where the battery he picked up at 5am is. And then tell me in the timeline how it got there. Only a handoff makes sense. He emerged from the 57th st subway station without a battery and went to Starbucks.

Couldnt he have simply put the battery in his coat pocket? Or the backpack? From my experience, ebike batteries arent incredibly large and would fit in the pocket of a winter coat.

What if he was making policy changes that were good for the people and bad for investors?
This was a costly job and very well calculated. The shooter knew where all cameras were, he’s been there since before thanksgiving running through this numerous times. He seems to be sending a message. I would venture to guess that this was a hit ordered by someone above not some random person with nothing to lose.

I think I saw Charlotte, NC, on the bus route posted (which I cannot locate). Charlotte also has an international airport. Charlotte Douglas International Airport Just tossing that fact into the mix.

I haven’t been following social media over this, but my understanding from other posts is that a lot of people are obsessing over it and the health insurance industry and the DoJ case and all that stuff. In other words, this is front page news. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

i'm curious about that too but i don't think we're privy to that information at this point. do you think he could've gone back to the hostel and they tracked it through cameras? or maybe there was a clue on the phone that was left behind?? i'm not really sure

DNA recovered from killer's water bottle and bullets: sources​

Investigators are days away from DNA results in evidence connected to the shooter who gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, The Post has learned.

The potential DNA evidence has been recovered from a water bottle believed to have been dropped by the masked gunman as he fled from shooting Thompson outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown, as well as bullets from the scene, sources said. A Starbucks coffee cup from the shooter is also being processed for DNA evidence, according to sources.

The manhunt for the shooter — which entered its third day Friday — has involved investigators tracking his movements across New York City going back to his apparent arrival Nov. 24 on a bus from Atlanta pulling into Port Authority.

All places that investigators confirmed the suspect visited have been combed for DNA evidence and fingerprints, including the Upper West Side hostel room where he stayed, sources said.

I have a southern accent and it's noticed when I travel, especially up north, out west and abroad. I even had a couple comment on it when we were in Florida recently. That would be big tell. JMO

For you non-Southerners--you may not know that everyone from the south doesn't sound like Gomer Pyle. The traditional southern accent is much, much less distinctive than it used to be--probably a product of television and travel. A 20-something southerner may or may not be identifiable through his accent.

This was a Well planned out attack. BIG peeps are behind this whole thing. His face was Exposed on purpose! Everyone is well aware of CCT throughout NYC . My bet this youngman is NOT even from the USA. HIT 4 Hire . All his trails were left to be uncovered purposely. Some peeps were really Angry with this CEO and well time will reveal the True story....

I did think hitman was from another country but I’m second guessing this based on the gum used. Unless of course it was obtained through a source in the U.S. when he arrived here.

E-bike batteries are usually the length of an adults forearm and weigh several pounds.

The only piece of this puzzle I'm familiar with is the hostel at 891 Amsterdam Ave, NY (I stayed there once in 2003). I attached some pictures from Trip Advisor HI NY City . The only place there is some privacy is the shower stalls, which are narrow and have dividers between them. There are lockers too - but accessible from public areas. There is no place to lay out some bullets and a gun and write messages on them. It would be odd to stay there more than a week and avoid interacting with almost anyone.

With all of the evidence left behind and the resources of the NYPD: caught on camera multiple times including at a corporate chain, at least 3 witnesses directly at scene (woman outside, two cars idling), used a phone near the scene, left a phone behind at the scene, left a water bottle with a smudged print, left behind casings, tracked down where he stayed (fake id) and travel to NYC (greyhound). It’s surprising to me that they still haven’t identified him yet. I do wonder if much of the evidence left behind was a red herring to throw them off track.
Some of the new information does make this sound more professional or at least organized in some manner. I’ve had an even crazier thought that maybe there were multiple individuals in the area that day dressed the exact same to obscure movements and identity.

I feel similar.... they are announcing dribs and drabs from PAST movements..... but NOTHING moving forward after Central Park entry, unless they are intentionally keeping that information from the public.
Each new article says NOTHING new..... We here on WS have not posted any recent updates in quite a while...
The mayor said something like "we are getting closer", but are we??
I dunno.... I get the sense that they are embarrassed at the lack of progress..... just my ol opinion of course.

Which begs the question- is it really his face out there? The simplest explanation seems to be that he was wearing a flesh mask under that Covid mask.

I wondered about this too. Or, maybe the smiling face belongs to an accomplice with similar features who donned the clothing to throw LE off. I'd like to know the time stamps of the two photos we've seen.

I hadn't considered this. Interesting theory. However, I would think this could have been done more discretely in that case (like a staged suicide alone in his hotel room or something).

More now from CBS, who have just reported the manhunt has become a multi-state search.

Officials add that this is an "important development" and it is likely that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) could take the lead on some elements of the case.

CBS also report that police have complied a portfolio of more than 200 images of the suspect that spans his arrival in New York City, the scene of the homicide and his escape route.

A series of those key images have since been distributed to around 80 major police departments across the US, and the New York Police Department has requested assistance of other police forces to help aid with the search.

Police say they are confident they will find him. "We're gonna get this guy," one official told CBS.

"The elite" - can you explain who exactly you mean by this?

Forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this theory (and forgive me if I am going to be banned for victim shaming even though he was under criminal investigation?), but what if BT hired the hitman himself? 1. He was under investigation for insider trading. All those millions he cashed in could be going back plus jail time. 2. He was living separately from his wife, but close enough so that their boys' lives wouldn't be disruptive too much. He obviously loves his boys. 3. Realizing money could go back, boys would have nothing, and they would know that their dad did something illegal and could land in jail, he was desperate to stage his "murder." 4. Hitman obviously knew where and when BT would be that exact moment, I think I read hitman wasn't there very long, didn't worry about missing him because he went to Starbucks first, I think bullets were staged to let people think hit was about insurance industry, BT didn't wear a heavy coat that morning even though it was very cold.

Someone had also mentioned the bright blue suit jacket not being suitable for a big board meeting.....

Currently, I cannot subscribe to this..but just saying, you are not alone.....
