Re. people talking about a possible accent and American vs not.

LE definitely have an idea at this point. They would have asked these questions to both the hostel worker and the cab driver.

If the suspect had an accent that suggested he was not American then in my opinion LE would have released that at this point. They would want to be able to put the message out that this wasn't 'one of us' as soon as possible in that case.

All the evidence is pointing towards a grievance with the American healthcare system. As many others have stated - a non-American wouldn't have the same motivation.

This is an American man in his 20's-30s. If an accent exists - it's an American dialect one. JMO
I agree!

Grievances about US healthcare are pretty much domestic issues. I don't know how much of the international community, knows or cares about our healthcare woes.

I was looking at the Interpol site, since I'm questioning whether a wanted person could be listed with a photograph only and no name. The public Red Notices (nearly 7000 individuals) have a name. There is also a Black Notices list, with photos, for unidentified persons but that appears to be only for unidentified bodies. So I don't know. Maybe also a person will only be listed if it's known and proven the criminal has left the country where the crime took place.
I looked at the Red Notices and this guy favors the murderer. He's Guatemalan. Had somebody switch his place in prison after he was convicted in 2020 of murder. Buscan a Wilfredo Hernández Barrios, alias 'El Duende', con alerta roja internacional

Could the leg shot have been intentional - such as to get him to turn around so he could SEE what was happening? I wouldn’t be surprised as this would seem to fit with some of his other “messages/games”.
I think I read elsewhere and it makes sense, the intentional leg shot was also to maim him so he had no chance of running away. The killer then approached a fallen BT and easily finished him off.

Someone in the international community might be interested in influencing Americans' confidence in things like our justice system (people are okay with an assassin taking the place of a jury!!), our health-provider industry, our financial system, etc.

To me, this does seem like a crime against us as a culture. But that's just one theory I have still on the table.

With DNA and fingerprints evidently abound (and definitively acquired if I recall correctly from reports), I feel if this cat was American he would've been identified and located by now. And the fact that he didn't wear gloves after all the other meticulous planning means he probably isn't concerned about being in a US criminal or genealogy database. Or shared Western database, for that matter.

Or, far less likely, he is protected by other means. Known spook, diplomat, etc.

I couldn’t agree more. This besides the murder weapon is what he has clearly made a point to hide and I think there is a reason for that.
For those thinking about the e-bike, I heard that police said he ditched the e-bike on/near 85th street, just before catching the cab a block north on 86th street. If police know about this change in his mode of transportation, then I'm not sure why police don't yet have that e-bike now.

I am very curious as to the exact amount the Monopoly money in the backpack is and what it added up to.

Moo… if this was motivated by anger and vengeance against UHC.

I feel as though counting it out… could possibly give insight into who the killer is. Help determine if he is acting on his own or with a group sending a larger message/retaliation together.

If his claim or an immediate family members claim for healthcare services was denied and the amount of Monopoly money in the backpack is the amount they needed to pay in order to receive treatment that UHC refused to cover. That would make the Monopoly money left behind not only symbolism but personal motive.

Leading me to believe this is personal to him and him alone.

And Not a group effort to make a large statement against the insurance/ healthcare company and institution as a whole.

So is it a round number… just a few Monopoly money bills for symbolism in the backpack or does it add up to a very specific number?

I don’t think the Monopoly money had any deeper meaning than all UHC cares about is money.
Regarding the monopoly money. I actually think the amount may have some significance to the shooter. It could be the amount that was denied by a claim, it could be the amount that was lost in stock market, it could be a salary amount, etc...He took the trouble to stuff the bag with monopoly money, there's a reason. Everything he did seems to have significance OR this guy is punking everyone. Sitting back watching investigators scramble to make sense of his nonsense.

I am looking forward to him being caught and us learning more! The aftermath of this assassination has been fascinating to watch play out. Sadly it takes away from the loss of Brian Thompson though, as most investigations do.

All jmo.

M00 is he had expensive taste.
You can find these items at outlet malls and thrift stores. Just because it’s initially expensive doesn’t mean that is what the killer paid - actually based on the hostel stay and being seen at McDonalds there is a good chance he got these “expensive” items thrifting. It would also make those items harder to trace.

He designed a personal attack, not a snipe. Almost any gun can be a sure shot at 8 feet, especially if you hit the target in the leg first and can walk up close
I don't believe my post implied that the killer thought he would kill him with one shot.
My post was to explain the important quality of the chosen gun was it has a silencer. If he started planning with no access to any gun, and had a choice of that gun or a more efficient pistol with a silencer, why would he pick a gun that is a single shot, with delays between shots that could have changed the outcome. Since shells would be ejected anyway, perhaps he decided to leave his messages on them and/or on ejected bullets. I have no idea if the leg shot was a lucky hit with intention, or an accident. Many people run after being shot in the leg and he wasn't far from a door. I think that due to the message shells/bullet, he intended to empty the magazine, which may have only held 6 bullets.

I live about 90 miles outside of Atlanta and NO ONE at work is aware of this. Not the 25 year olds, nor the 65 year olds. I’ve seen tidbits on patient TVs but it’s a non event here in south Georgia.
It’s in the Belgian newspaper, even every new bit of information gets posted, for instance the new cabpictures. Then it’s weard it isn’t newsworthy in Atlanta, where people may live who recognize the guy. No?

They may have is DNA or fingerprints but he's not in the database to compare them to. There's a good summary in this article.

The odds are far more likely that he is not in any database (DNA or prints), than he is in one. An immediate break coming from either of those things not only isn't surprising, it's completely expected.

Every single thing here points to a lone wolf assassin with some sort of a grievance. Hired hitmen don't send messages, and they certainly don't commit crimes in this way.

Any international connection is even more out there, as I see it.

I've followed countless cases on here over there years, and the simplest explanation has been the reality in just about every single one. What does the evidence say? What does history say? There's just no reason to complicate things to the extent that we're talking about something that not only doesn't happen with regularity, but hasn't happened ever.

Not like this.

There are 670 beds in the hostel. It sounds like he was staying in a room with two others who reported that he never took off his mask.

I wonder whether he blended in with so many people passing like ships in the night.

I'm still of thinking "never taking off the mask" in the hostel was him not wanting to catch Covid. Otherwise, if it had been to be undetected/hidden/whatever... you'd think he'd also wear gloves so as not to have his fingerprints and DNA everywhere, yet he didn't. JMO

Is an E-Bike something you rent in NYC? I know little about the e-bikes and scooters you can rent in big cities. Is it something he would have owned himself?

Yes! That’s another one.

Satanic murder.
Sex trafficking.

It’s never that.
