Respectfully, we don't know that. Twenty people could have identified him by now but LE is not going to tip him off that they know who he is.
Do they usually do that? Am new here so holding off on the name seems unusual; also they backtracked that claim. As of now it seems they have no identity for the POI.

Same thing right, the tips did not work cos he doesn’t have a presence in the US. If he did, his identity would be out by now?
I think he doesn’t have an active presence anywhere in the world. In other words, comes from a very remote area where people are not normally socially active on the Internet. There are many such places off the grid so to speak in the world.

I see. Thanks. No, in this case it doesn't look like he picked up anything. He does make a motion as if transferring something to right hand. My #1 guess then is pantomime/ruse. Or placed the plastic tab or plastic cap (don't know if they're tethered in NYC) there.
I saw a theory at some point, nothing to back this up just FYI. I think I believe read another account where someone said they could see headlights in the distance, and they surmised his bending over to garbage bag was to give him a moment to pause and surveil his surroundings, or momentarily conceal himself while checking out the scene. I will need to rewatch it myself. I do recall it seems like he might swap things between his right and left hands just out of view as he passes a scaffolding post. If there is an object, whatever it is, is very small. Something that can easily fit in the palm of your hand.

I can't in any universe imagine the shooter is trans.
Nor me but given he supposedly has fake eyelashes, some make up/eyeliner, modified eyebrows etc if he changed out of his designer gear in a bathroom at the bus station into womens clothes I don’t think anyone would be suspicious

I suspect there could be people who can identify him but are withholding information due to their sympathy for him.

Perhaps he was wronged by the insurance company and it was well known within family and friend circle?
My mother (77 years old, true crime lover, and following this case from the EU) had this theory when I spoke to her yesterday over the phone. She thinks he comes from a culture where elders are considered ''sacred'', the pillar of a family, and he has gone unhinged due to not well processed grief because his grandma or grandpa passed away due to having their claim denied. She thinks this act of revenge is a sort of ''an eye for an eye, your death for the death of my loved one''. Just my mum's opinion.

BT was not even the big chief, he was CEO of one of the group companies, if there was revenge involved over denied insurance claim surely someone searching for someone to take revenge against would do a bit of googling and shoot BT’s boss the group CEO

I think the motive is much closer to home and nothing to do with his corporate life
Just a counterpoint: The "really" big bosses, like Witty, surely had security and an entire entourage with them. I've seen Witty or more than one occasion, and never sans these.

I think, in general, it's isn't east to catch one of these CEO's alone.

If the perp held onto both as grievances, I feel it is more likely that the personal would trump the ideological and that any crime stemming from his grievances would be less meticulous planning and more act of passion. Those motivated by personal grievances tend to want people to know what a person or company did to them (or their loved one). None of that here. This act seems more audience and ideologically driven, IMO.
Fully agree. So far, all of the evidence left behind (the bullets, the monopoly money in the backpack) seems to be theatrical in nature and leans more toward ideological driven than a personal grievance.

Am UK based so not sure what it is like in USA but I have seen many females in UK that are taller than me, I am 6ft
True, but seeing a woman that height might be a memorable event for some people. Such a "woman" wouldn't necessarily blend in with the crowd. Even in NYC.

I think he took it home with him, too. I think the gun is significant in that it belonged to his family member who may have passed away due to denied healthcare coverage. I do not believe he got rid of the gun for sentimental reasons. It just does not make sense to me why he would pick that gun for the task at the hand otherwise.
It seems like this is a weapon used for 'veterinary purposes' - so perhaps much more difficult to track. With how meticulous he's been in covering his tracks, I lean away from the idea that he used a weapon that could be traced back to his family.

There’s so little movement with this case that people are just making anything up.

So did the shooter wear the same clothes for all 10 days he was in NYC? Or did he bring other clothing in the backpack when he arrived and then ditch them or give them to other people or just leave them in his hostel room? He ditched the backpack and that's the only luggage we know he was carrying, correct? I'm sure LE can see what type of luggage he had with him on the hostel cameras from when he checked in - if he had anything else with him. But I'm imagining he didn't bring a rolling suitcase or anything that would be a hassle to deal with.

Still he was there for ten days, ostensibly only with the backpack that was ditched and when it was found, it only had one jacket and monopoly money. Where did all his other stuff end up, I am wondering - clothing, underwear, toiletry items like a toothbrush etc? Or did he literally travel to NYC with just the clothes on his back and a pack full of monopoly money?
It's very easy to give away items at hostels. I've done that at the end of long trips so I had more room to pack things I wanted to purchase. You can also just leave things in the room and someone will take them. Most larger hostels have laundry rooms you could start a load in the washer and leave. Or, "donate" to a homeless camp as you walk by. He may have arrived with a lot more clothing. He shopped while in the city too, just like he went to Starbucks. He ate more meals than the ones at the hostel for sure.

Very plausible theory but would someone killing him for that not shoot him a couple of times, say “this is for what you did to (insert name here) you m**herf**Ker” and unload a few more rounds into him while staring him right in the face?

If I was motivated by revenge that is certainly what I would have done

Yes. I’ve always paid cash, and always used a doorman to book. I assume all hotels/restaurants/entertainment venues have them.
but when he jumps off his bike, he is not at any place he is staying with a doorman....possible he has his own phone because the one he dumped was not the only one?

What are the odds he just found a taxi that quickly? Any chance that image of his making a phone call was actually him booking the taxi beforehand and that's why he got rid of the phone soon after the shooting? Jmoo (the opinion of someone totally unfamiliar with NYC's taxi situation)
The odds are 100% he could find a taxi quickly.

I think the killer should be accountable w/o a doubt, but it's interesting there is so much attention and a $50,000 reward for the killing of a billionaire vs others who are killed in the same NYC daily.
A billionaire?
