Sure he took precautions, but he had no chance of being successful. That backpack being left behind for one, and the fact that there is nothing he could do to remove his DNA from a room he stayed in for 10 days.
The problem, though, is how many other people left their DNA in that room

the wife and children are victims, not suspects.

the wife and children are victims, not suspects.

That’s why I emphasized potential suspects—the keyword being potential, not definitive suspects. Since we, the public, don’t have access to real motives (though LE/FBI likely do), all we have are photos of a young adult in a hoodie and mask at this time. Was it a hired gunman? A disgruntled customer or patient? A targeted attack? Or something completely random?

I'd be surprised if he's 21.. but not much over if he is. I think the fake ID could be his actual fake ID.. like he would use to get into places he can't due to being underage. This may not be so elaborate that he acquired a fake ID for this specific crime, he may have just already had one and used it.

Thank you! Good hypothesis about his fake ID. Maybe he frequently visited NJ (had family there) and even had help from a cousin who looked similar in getting some kind of ID - that's what teens do.

I'd be surprised if he's only 18-19, though, given the careful planning of this crime - but stranger things have happened, for sure.

Hitman may be from outside the US. Chance to go visit NYC for a bit because he knew as soon as he did his hit job, he would have to bolt ASAP. BT set it up because he knew he was being investigated for insider trading. He had cashed in millions of $$. Afraid his boys would be left with nothing if government siezed the money. Plus he did not want to go to jail again (DUI years ago). Plus he did not want the shame of his boys knowing he did something illegal. He was hoping he could set it up that it looked like someone disgruntled with the insurance industry. And did not want to do it in Minnesota where he knew his wife and sons would be too close, possibly end up having to show up at crime scene. NYC gave him a buffer of them not seeing crime scene as well as no one they knew would be involved in crime scene: paramedics, police officers, etc. I think he hired someone from out of the country, which is why no one seems to know who this guy. Even his fingerprints and DNA have not been found in police database. Hitman casually went to Starbucks right before hit. Not concerned at all about missing BT. BT put on a bright blue jacket that morning. I think he called hitman and said "Okay, I'm walking out of hotel in five minutes with bright blue jacket on." I believe BT walked out of hotel and shooter came from BEHIND and shot him. He didn't see this guy from the front. He KNEW this was the guy without seeing his face. It was the jacket. No one would know what BT was wearing that morning except for BT. Hitman literally got to the hiding spot by the SUV five minutes before BT walked out the door. BT did not have an overcoat. No laptop bag. No briefcase. BT knew he did not need those that morning. A 50 year old CEO does not go to an out of town conference without a laptop. Period.
Have you considered that the weapon used was vey inefficient, repeatedly malfunctioned, the silencer/supressor was a good idea, but which ever gun he used was the least likely used by a "hitman"? If anyone else with a gun had been around, the shooter could have easily been shot. If hired, he would have a different gun with a proper fitting silencer. MOO

Knowing NYC is a flex not only for Americans. It’s almost a rite of passage to have lived in NYC for people around the world.

Steve Jobs may have been an exception or perhaps had undercover security that wasn’t publicly disclosed. Regardless, most high-profile individuals have security teams—some highly visible, while others operate discreetly.

Elon Musk now travels with up to 20 bodyguards who refer to him by the code name 'Voyager,' report says

Billionaire Bill Gates is seen with three bodyguards as he exits the Australian Museum before meeting the Prime Minister

"Bezos's entourage of security personnel can seem overwhelming even to people used to an entourage.

When Bezos was on set for his cameo in "Star Trek Beyond," actor Chris Pine said, "I was there for the bit with his, like, nine bodyguards and three limos. It was really intense."

Meta spent $43 million on Mark Zuckerberg's personal security in 3 years: Report

Must be different in USA, on 3 occasions I have seen billionaire Daniel Levy the owner of Tottenham Hotspur premier league team on a London Underground train twice he got off alone, no security detail despite being a billionaire and hated by many of his own fans and rival fans

It wasn't a B&T pistol. It was a regular semi-auto pistol with a sound moderator attached. You can see gasses venting from the ejection port when it discharges so the action is opening. The B&T pistol isn't semi-automatic, it's bolt-action, and needs to be manually cycled with each round. That pistol would never produce gas from the action. In fact, a regular semi-auto pistol shouldn't either.

I'm petty sure that it did that because the moderator wasn't properly fitted and was causing irregular operation of the gun. The moderator was almost certainly the reason it didn't function correctly meaning he had to mess about with it. Unlike the movies, fitting muzzle attachments to firearms isn't straightforward. This is especially the case with guns who's barrel moves on firing which they do in almost all pistols chambered for cartridges more powerful than .380 ACP. The mod adds too much weight to the barrel so the gun doesn't unlock or cycle properly.
Do you have a link to a LE or MSM source stating that the weapon was not a B&T pistol?

I don’t know what kind of pistol it was, I only know what LE has said so far - and that is that the weapon was a B&T Station-SIX - 9.

Would love for LE to comment more on the weapon used, as if it was not a B&T Station SIX - 9, whoever identified it as such in the beginning created a 1-mile deep rabbit hole that resulted in wasting a lot of LE resources.

I have always thought the B&T was an odd choice. Maybe LE knows that their first reports were incorrect, but are withholding that info, but I see no reason for them to do so. I don’t think giving the perp a false sense of security re: LE knowing the type of weapon will change how he behaves from this point forward.

Did LE find a weapon in the lake but not divulge that information?

All jmo

I agree with this. He is clearly pretty familiar with the City.

I get what you're saying here but I have a couple of issues; the "silencer" wasn't a good idea at all. It hugely increased the size of the weapon and is almost certainly what caused the gun to malfunction. It was also pointless as it's not going to hide your activity to any meaningful degree. Waving a massive pistol about and shooting someone in the back is going to get you all the attention in the world, regardless of how quiet the shot is.

This is why, to me, he presents as a random Walt/fantasist type.

As to someone else being around to shoot the shooter - very unlikely, imo. NYC doesn't give carry permits out too readily so realistically the only person likely to be near with a gun would be a cop and there weren't any at the time.

Yes, absolutely, I’m aware of these cases and I agree.

But this is not that, IMO. Too young, for one. Not a Doogie Howser.

IMO a lot of theories are being conjectured because no one knows exactly what happened, but JUST MY OPINION, some theories are more credible than others.

That's why I was asking about how old the alleged perp's pictures make him look.

If someone told me he was 30, I'd believe it as I know some very young looking 30-somethings. But, to me, he looks as if he's in his early 20's.

In a case like this, we are almost certain to be somewhat surprised about who this perp is (or perps, if it turns out to be more than one). I do think he's American and not a foreign national although anything is possible at this point.

IMO.

I think that the main reason for body guards isn't necessarily assassination attempts but rather the risk of kidnapping for ransom.

If you want to kill someone then shooting them is pretty easy if no one knows you're there. Donald Trump is only alive because the two people who had a go at him (that we know of) were totally incompetent. His Secret Service bodyguards and all of the local police force had no effect on someone shooting at him.
The person that shot Trump was young but he had a lot of experience, training and practice, with his weapon. He shot Trump in the head, the top of the ear, which was turned just enough, fractions of an inch, to save him.

OMG at the ASSUMPTIONS some posters are making!!!

Just a reminder, but what has been released is likely a very small amount of info that LE has. Just because UHC or the family has not offered a reward does not necessarily mean anything, LE could have told them NOT TO OFFER.

Just hoping they have this guy in the crosshairs and arrest is coming soon so all this can stop!

Surprised I have not read a theory that the wife and the shooter are lovers and he killed BT for her!

You must not have been here in the past week because I read that 3000 times.

Well what if he arranged for his own shooting death, and something went wrong, he being. grievously injured but not killed? Which is why I don't consider it likely that bt arranged his own assassination.
Ok, thanks for explaining this. I don’t believe BT arranged this hit on himself either.

Most security teams operate undercover, dressing casually to blend in—especially in the case of Bill Gates. He’s a down-to-earth individual (I’ve had the chance to meet him multiple times), but he’s no fool; he fully understands the need to protect himself and his family.

Also known for not having a security detail was Barry Sherman, the Canadian billionaire owner of a large pharma company.
Both he and his wife were found murdered by asphyxiation at home, Dec., 2017.

I agree with this. He is clearly pretty familiar with the City.
But, even if he'd never been there before, ten days is a good amount of time to figure out where things are and how you're going to carry this out.

  • #778
I think he LIVES in New York, he knows it inside out, the previous 10 days was just a way of throwing police off the scent - hostel, bus from Atlanta etc, I would not be surprised if put on a change of clothes/wig whatever at that bus station and headed back to his own place

Er, pls don't throw rocks at an elderly (but spry) lady, what is an e bike and how are they so easy to access at a moments notice in busy nyc?

Ppl reaĺly carry batteries around? How large?
Electric bicycle. You can go pretty fast on them. You can rent a CitiBike from locations all over NYC (same as in other major cities). I just walked my dog two blocks and passed a rack of at least 20 CitiBikes available to rent. The perp was not on a CB, which requires a credit/debit card. He could have bought one or rented one from a shop. Messengers and food delivery people use them. Bicycle theft is not rare in NYC; some people take the battery off to make them less attractive to thieves.

If he was able to make it to Mexico, and he’s now had enough time, he could easily walk across the border at Tijuana. Probably other places too, that’s just the one I know. They don’t care who walks into Mexico, only out. Then he could hop on a bus to Mexico City and catch a flight to anywhere, or get lost there. I doubt if Mexican authorities are going to bend over backwards to help American LE just now.
Ehh, being on the lam abroad sounds more like a movie trope.

For Mexico, you can cross in and visit the border zone without a check but not go deep inland without registering at the border first - granted, my personal experience is from 2004.

And foreign countries will almost always return people wanted for murder. It's not subject to politics. There are ideological exceptions, like Catholic countries in Europe usually won't extradite if there's a chance of the death penalty in the US.
