NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #6

People here have said some hostels have rules about distance from home address to hostel. I don’t know the rules for this one. Good question.

Do you have a link or not?

LE has said they think it was a B&T Station SIX - 9. I believe the 9 indicates 9mm, but Idk. I do not however think that SIX has anything to do with number of rounds. Jmo

LE has not said that they think it was a VP9, the predecessor to the Station SIX - 9.

I personally don’t claim to know what the weapon was. I just think that those who are claiming that LE are wrong need to have a link or some factual basis to support their claim - other than steam/smoke seen on the video and some youtuber’s opinion - otherwise, your claim should be accompanied by a big fat “just my opinion”

My advice to those who think they know more than LE (especially those who are 100% sure based on what “we” know), is to contact NYPD and let them know that they are wrong - that the B&T “categorically doesn’t operate” like the one seen in the video.

I have no dog in the hunt. I don’t claim to know. Just suggesting everybody stick to TOS

All jmo
like your expression "no dog in the hunt"!!

More:

Working off a tip, police stopped a person travelling by bus in Altoona, 276 miles west of New York City.

The person walked into a McDonald's where a witness recognized him from the images police had circulated, sources said. Altoona police were called and they came to get him.

The person was found with a fake New Jersey driver's license, like the one the NYPD has said the suspect used to check in at the Manhattan hostel.

Altoona police also recovered a computer and a gun similar to the one used in the assassination-style killing, sources said

The NYPD is sending detectives to Altoon

Thank you so much, MassGuy - this is moving very fast.

The manner of his apprehension (IMO) shows a man who wants to get caught and write books from prison.

We shall see.

Told you!

Random nutjob.
Looks like it !
So glad it appears that they caught him.
Regardless of your injustice (if this was about insurance), you can't go around whacking people.
Although I'm getting the feeling it was his 'fifteen minutes" and all that.
Still curious if he had help ?
Or just got lucky ?
Imo.

Allegedly carrying a number of fake IDs and yet the one he decided to show police was the same NJ one from the hostel? I would assume he’s been following the news…but maybe not. Puzzling choices. Almost like he was ready to give in.

Good point re traveling by car perhaps being more preferable for his purpuses. He could have purchased a used car with cash. But, at least 4 problems with this idea: 1) if the car and plates are connected to him, LE would put out an alert for that car & those plates and if he stayed with the car, it'd be harder to hid; 2) the car would need to be reliable and so it might have cost more than he wanted to pay; 3) he could get away from the murder scene far faster on a bike; 4) he needed to drop at least the backpack in CP and parking might have been an issue.
Very valid points. Moo.. If he knew too much evidence left behind combined with photos everywhere… had the police closing in on him you are right, going home or even retrieving his actual vehicle was no longer an option. Bus and to stay on the run might have been the only option left.

If that’s the case though… why on earth would he still be traveling with the murder weapon and fake id’s he used in New York to commit the crime?

I am extremely hopeful this is the killer that has been apprehended. All signs point to it being him. Just very surprised he’d still have so much evidence on him.

Actually makes me fearful he may have had more plans to use the gun and use the other fake id’s.

I’ve been saying for a while, people were giving him way too much credit.

Some super villain genius, foreign hired assassin, who intentionally left DNA because he was so far ahead of police it didn’t matter.

Nope.

It was always really simple.

I can’t wait to learn the full details.
@MassGuy, this is why I follow some of the same cases you do. Always the voice of reason. Thank you.

I think it was the McDonalds employee who phoned the police, not the elderly customer, if the customer phoned police in the same room where a cold blooded killer is standing he/she has incredible balls, the McDonalds employee would have gone back of house into the office to call, safer

Again I have to wonder why in the ever loving heck would the most sought after fugitive right now walk into a McDonalds of all places???? Makes no sense to me unless they want to be seen. JMO
He's lovin' it.

I guess if you had to eat while on the run, a chain restaurant would be the safer option than other options.

He really should've had more than one fake ID and threw them away regularly. Come on.

I praised his planning, but I'm taking it all back.

I thought he was on camera leaving the park on the bike?
He was on camera leaving the park on the bike but perhaps he could have avoided the camera on the edge of CP and ridden the bike back in the park and disposed of it or just left it in a previously planned location. But, the timemframe is so tight and given the times of when he's spotted on camera, I don't think he had the time to sneak back into CP. But, it's possible. JMO

They could be smarter but they will never have the same resources as the Police have or as many brains working together to solve crimes.
This is the issue. Planning a major crime as a loner is not an easy thing. You don't have other people to bounce ideas off. You think you've planned the perfect crime but you don't have anyone to you up on a decision which seems obvious to you but might seem ridiculous to anyone else.

Report that POI was using a fake ID. BBM.

A person of interest has been nabbed in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was coldly executed in a targeted attack in front of a Manhattan hotel las week, The Post has learned.

The man was picked up in Altoona, Pa., on Monday using a fake ID, sources said.

Just read he had a fake NJ ID. Wow!
