The mountain photo on his X … his retweets on X … ‘16 valedictorian at Gilman … quality of his writing … I am just WHOA on this guy
I hope this is a case where they release the manifesto
This is giving Unabomber... if the Unabomber posted shirtless muscle pics.

Agree, @caradana. I was expecting some Portland backpacker Occupy Wall Street type*. Mind blown.

*Nothing against that type - love me a (non-murdering) idealist!

I'm assuming his age is significant - 26. The age a dependant no longer can use their parent's health insurance.

I wonder if he will go to trial. I'm curious about how long he will remain devoted to his ideology.

Altoona PD is in possession of the 2 page doc/manifesto at this time

Per PC
Because there is always a manifesto....

Why should any of us have to go thru it. You know, the pendulum swings, ppl start realizing how much food costs and they can't even afford to get sick. So, insulin is capped at 300 per month when it costs 10% of that to make. Talk now of covering everyone with ozembic. It's gone crazy, and the pendulum physically has to come back. I am really sorry this young man threw his life away, and would hope that his family is being researched for recent health fiascos. The ONLY good I can see is that Americans will see that this kid is literate, well spoken, brilliant, and, I hope, expressed the truth in his manifesto, not some gooblyde unibomber blather. So sad for the victim, for the perpetrator and both families. IMHO
The Unabomber was a math prodigy with a masters and a doctorate in Math, specifically complex analysis, though. He was even a teacher for some time, iirc.

Brian’s funeral today, maybe guilt started kicking in
I'm sure his family will like hearing that BT's likely killer has been caught. Not sure if it will make the day of his funeral any better for them... but it might.

More from Miller:

Dark possibility that he intended to keep striking. Notes that he used the plural "parasites" in his manifesto, implying possibility he intended to kill multiple people.

Paraphrasing: Protest is ineffective, violence is the next step that has to be taken.

Said he acted alone and was self funded.

My thoughts: Did he intend to mail this? Was he planning on getting caught eventually? Was he planning on being killed?

Just don’t understand what he was trying to achieve, BT didn’t own the company they will just replace him with another CEO and it will be business as usual, meanwhile he will probably get a whole life sentence in jail or a minimum of 40 years, what a waste of an incredible mind/talent

No sympathy for him, he has robbed 2 young kids of their dad

He hates 'Corporate America', yet was eating in McDonald's?!?

Not at all surprising, like celebrities spouting off about the environment and taking private jets everywhere.

I think the discourse/fallout was exactly what he wanted.

Here is Luigi Mangione's reading list on Goodreads: Luigi Mangione’s books on Goodreads (308 books)
I don't understand people's focus on his Goodreads list, aren't people used to reading ideas from authors who are completely opposite to theirs in order to (in a way) ''protect'' themselves and get a full picture of who are the crazies in society past and present? Maybe I think so because I am a Goodreads volunteer librarian but I read widely, things that I am passionate about and also things that are completely outside my realm/moral values/beliefs to get an insight on what others feel/think, and sort of understand how they react. His Goodreads list (if I did not know he has killed someone) does not tell me anything other than he has an inquisitive mind.

Well, I was completely wrong. My theory was BT arranged his own murder, but I was totally wrong. As a mother of 4, including a 29 year old software engineer who is very liberal, against corporate America in a lot of ways and seems to have a lot in common with this man under arrest, I am sad that this 27 year old did such a horrible act. I apologize to all those I offended with my theory...

It certainly appears that his parents can afford the very best defense attorney. (eyeroll)

The exact quotes relating to the guns from the PC:

"The gun is-is it believed to be the gun he used in the shooting? And can you-there was some talk that it was a veterinarian type gun. Is that accurate?"

"No, as of right now the information we're getting from Altoona is that the gun appears to be a-a ghost gun. May have been made on a 3D printer. The capability of fire-firing a 9mm round. Obviously that will come out during our ballistics testing."
