I don’t think his issue with UHc is his pain though it’s their profits and denial rates by the sounds of it.
If that is the case he should have used his genius mind to get into politics/lobbying, not cold blooded murder of a father of 2

i think officers are readying to bring him out of the courthouse. Sheriff just came out to ask for cooperation from photogs. Source: Reuters Live
Someone just yelled, "Hey Luigi, it'sa me, Mario!" as he walked out of the court on the Reuters stream. Made it well worth keeping it running all afternoon lol

"...healthcare is a business, not a right, and human lives are expendable in the interest of ensuring that obscene wealth remains concentrated in the hands of an elite minority. Americans spend far more money per capita on healthcare than their counterparts in other developed nations – but it’s not like you get what you pay for. Often, the US healthcare experience consists of jumping through hellish bureaucratic hoops, spending a good portion of your life on hold on the telephone, and battling insurance claims denials – if you have the energy and time to do so."

"..the man was in fact emblematic of the lethal inequality that underpins US corporatocracy, where the health insurance racket does its part to keep people so sick and debt-ridden that they can’t pose a challenge to the system. And that, at the end of the day, is why the gunman is being “venerated as something approaching a folk hero”.

Source: No surprise Americans are ‘rooting for’ the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killer

I'd argue that this particular young man was not emblematic of the inequality....unless we're using him as an example of how money gets you the care you ask for....

So it's almost like his mantra is, "I have the money to get the care I need (even if it isn't working to alleviate my pain), but I'm mad as hell because YOU don't have the same privilege I do." (In this case, he's simply an advocate, not an emblem....loses some oomph for me as far as a defense goes.)

JMO, IMO

No issue this time loading him into the car. He's on his way now back to jail. Source: Reuters Live

Hope am wrong but have a feeling he will get away with it and get a not guilty verdict

I am lucky enough to live in a country where healthcare is free but it is going to be bloody hard to find 12 men and women who have not seen a close relative suffer as a result of an insurance claim
I would disagree with you, but I thought there was no way that a jury would acquit OJ. Juries are unpredictable. MOO

But in my opinion, you (the general) should still care about issues affecting society, regardless if you’ve experienced the issues yourself.

Absolutely, but the fact the he, himself, did not experience the issues takes martyrdom right out of the equation.

I guess, it’s not a fact that he didn’t experience those issues. That is reported in places.

Altoona police, citizens, receive threats after Luigi Mangione's arrest

By Ronny Reyes
Altoona Police and residents received threats following the arrest of Luigi Mangione, the man suspected of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

“We have received some threats against our officers and building here,” Altoona Police Department Deputy Chief Derek Swope told reporters Tuesday.

“We’ve started investigating some threats against some citizens in our community. We’re taking all those threats seriously and doing all the follow-up we can with those,” Swope added.

The deputy chief declined to say if any of the employees at the local McDonald’s where Mangione was spotted received any threats.

Many on social media have hailed Mangione as a hero for killing Thompson, a father-of-two, and for his views condemning health insurance companies.

I disagree.
Yes, Americans know there are issues with healthcare, but Americans as a whole understand right from wrong and the importance of law and order.
This is a cold blooded killing that has little to do with LM being wronged by the insurance company and more about LM’s self-radicalization to the extreme fringe. Justice will prevail.

My opinion

49 million are insured through UHC. Awful that the assassination happened, but it has brought to the forefront outrageous insurance denials and problems within UHC, a private insurance company. Minnesota medical Health Partners this past summer was refusing to use them solely because of high denials to Medicare Advantage retirees - somehow worked things out.

Me, too, about the living part. Maternity/child care leave one year paid at average salary, kids' dental care free until 20th bday, healthcare does require employment but in practice it's hard to not be state-insured and the quality is fine. Higher taxes, though. :)

Don't know about walking. Being a juror is serious dry business once you get into that room.

He likely exaggerrated the impact of his condition to further rationalize his bloodlust, IMO.
Do we have evidence that he has complained about his back pain with respect to shooting BT?

We actually still don’t have verified information on his motives other than disliking corporate America and considering people like BT parasites.

I think we are extrapolating the back injury into the murder when I don’t think that connection has been clearly made at present - happy to be shown evidence I’ve missed by the way! These threads move fast.

The face of evil into his hearing…there’s the angry MF entitled and not willing to co operate. No remorse. MOO

He is 100% going to make the trial him v the healthcare system, sadly I can see many on the jury falling for it
If any juror was or had a loved one abused by the healthcare system/insurance, then yes, I agree with you. I fear many have.

It’s incredibly frustrating when a patient can’t receive the care they need.

Or maybe the care they THINK they need.

Hope you are right but I think his defence will not be about his actions that day but about the healthcare system in general and it might succeed in swaying some jurors with bad personal family experiences
