The fact that LM stayed in the northeast and made no attempt to disguise himself still baffles me. 5 days - take the bus to Little Rock, Omaha or Des Moines. Get a job using your real identity for a while, lay low and reinsert yourself into society. Massive blunder to stay in the NE still wearing the same mask etc. Would love to know if he had seen the released pictures of himself from CCTV around NYC.

And also: shave those eyebrows for Pete's sake! lol

Maybe he wasn't following the news after all ?
He should have been they said he had his computer with him and Mcdonalds has free wifi lol :)

yesterday his Attorney said " I have not seen any evidence to tie him to what happened in New York.
Looks like today thats going to change Mr Dickey.
"Luigi Mangione’s Attorney ‘Not Aware of Any Evidence’ Linking His Client to CEO Killing: ‘A Lot of Guns Look the Same'
Well, now the folks will come out of the woodwork claiming that toolmark and ballistics forensics are actually a junk science and there’s still no “real” evidence he’s connected to the shooting.

Mr. Mangione,

You're not special or unique, and no one owed you anything in life other than to leave you alone to your life choices, be they good or bad. In your search to lay the blame at someone else's feet for your life problems, you appear to have left out the most likely culprits - your educators - for it was they who inundated you with the fallacious ideological mantras that seem to have guided your young life. Had you stuck it out for a few more years and felt the freedom (and bliss) that stems from hard work, personal accountability, and accomplishment, your gift of high intelligence would have almost certainly taken you to places most can't even dream of. But now you're in a cage - utterly betrayed by those you entrusted to tell you the truth - because you murdered another human being. Not a competing economic philosophy. Not a revolutionary foil. A human being. Let that sink in.

Sincerely,
Slim
Educators didn’t cause this.

Don't forget, had same ID on him that was used at hostel. lol
Criminal mastermind!! :D
And was still USING it!!! lol
Since his mother filed a missing persons report on him, I wondered if he did not want to use his real ID cards or passport.

So confusing. Fingerprints are not something you overlook if you don't want to be identified. It is possible he wanted to be identified, but not captured, a 'hero' on the run. But if that was the case, he would have had a pretty good disguise. I just don't get what his plans were.
Agree. Interesting idea. His behavior suggests that he wanted to be caught, but I don't think that's the case. I think you're right that he might have wanted to be identified but not captured, and to be a "hero" on the run. But since he didn't disguise himself, left fingerprints, kept the gun and carried a manifesto, it's very puzzling as to what his plans were once he left NYC.

Yeah my thought was that he was probably following it pretty closely but then why not ditch the mask and clothes. Maybe he just resigned himself to his fate. Zero f's.

He could have at least used another one of his fake ids

Wow, harsh -- Andrew Witty the CEO of the insurer’s parent company, defended its practices in order to “guard against” what he called “unnecessary care in an address to employees just days after the shocking execution of UnitedHealthcare CEO -- Source: UnitedHealth CEO says insurer will continue to prevent ‘unnecessary care’ in leaked video as sick trolls warn, ‘Dude’s next’
in that article it says
"Witty encouraged employees to “tune out” the criticism of the insurance giant, insisting that the overwhelming backlash “does not reflect reality.”
I wonder if Brian Thompson's death reflected reality to him.?

Most -- if not all of us -- don't wish pain or illness on anyone !
And yes Luigi M. seems sadly disordered in his mind.
The severity of such can indeed be exaggerated, though. Imo.

This is about Luigi Mangione only, and I'm not referring to anyone else with this condition.
If he needs further treatment, there are programs in prison for him and most likely he will have access to meds he needs.
Maybe not a 'super villain' given the mistakes he made, but a plain, idiotic villain ?
Yes.
Given his past education one would think he might not have left viable prints on the snack bar wrappers and the drink container !

No one is creating a 'super villain' out of LM.
Not feeling the sympathy some are expressing for him.
LM isn't a 'super' anything. Just a snarling raging injustice collector.
He made his decisions and he did this to himself.

As far as being a 'narcissist', his outburst at the reporters leaned that way, imo.

The people around him worried and cared about him.
Not everyone is afforded that in this life.

My sympathies are only for Brian Thompson.
LM -- afaik -- did not even know him personally.
A gunshot wound (my coworker suffered and accidental injury years ago) hurts enormously, and it's not like some movies or reenactments, where you instantly close your eyes and drift away painlessly.
The bullets are basically punching holes in the victim, and they slowly bleed out unless medical emt's can get to them in time.
Brian died a painful, agonizing death.

My condolences to his wife and two children.
This is going to be a terrible holiday coming up for them.
A terrible way to lose your loved one.
I can't imagine.
Imo.
Omo.

Am not trivialising pain and discomfort but LM ran across the road to shoot BT, ran into an alley to board an ebike, carried an ebike battery which is pretty heavy, in his backpack, his back problems can’t have been that bad that they are an excuse to commit cold blooded murder

Typical defense lawyer speak, just willful ignorance.
Why willful ignorance? He hadn’t been provided with evidence identifying LM as the NY shooter.

It’s unfortunate that people bash defense lawyers for doing their job and protecting their client’s rights. We’re not all awful!

Question: When did Luigi turn 26?

The article states that he told police it was May 6, 1998 after lying initially.
I'm sure it is on his arrest record but I can't find that.

"..According to the criminal complaint, Mangione initially handed Altoona police officers a fake driver’s license bearing the name Mark Rosario with a birth date of July 21, 1998. Officers ran the name through the National Crime Information Center and found no record.

They then informed Mangione that he was under an official police investigation and would be placed under arrest if he lied about his identity. He then stated that his true name was Luigi Mangione, with a birth date of May 6, 1998..."

Fair point, I just find that even when presented with evidence, they downplay it. YMMV.
