A lot of left handed people do things right handed. Golf, Bat, Shoot. I'm left handed, but do all those things right handed.

I eat left handed, or at least hold my fork in my left hand.

So true. It is not that we are "true" ambidextrous, but we do switch it up a lot.

Only about 1% of the population is truly ambidextrous, meaning they have no dominant hand, while 90% of people are right-handed, and 9% of people are left-handed. Some people have different dominant hands for different task.

What causes ambidexterity?
Studies have shown that people who have a preference for using their right hand tend to have brains in which the left-hemisphere is dominant. Some scientists have suggested that for ambidextrous people, neither hemisphere in the brain is dominant. It is generally understood that there are four variations of handedness.

It is complex.....

Reading some of LM's X posts around Dec. 2022 he sounded positive about his future. He mostly repost others' postings, though. moo

<modsnip - quoted post was not an approved source>

I haven't seen anything that convinces me that the Unabomber's book "heavily influenced" LM.

For the poster earlier questioning LM's politics, here's his friend's quote from the article:
"Bhogal previously gave DailyMail.com an insight into Mangione's political views, including that he is, in his friend's opinion, 'anti-woke'. "

I think I said men's rights and I want to qualify that a bit. The casual right wing anti-woke status on women is anti-feminist, the two genders are not equal, women need to be soft so men can be powerful. It's not overtly anti-woman, it's more of 'there are places for both genders and they're not the same'. He retweeted a post where some woman was praising how men are powerful warriors and women need to support them in that (paraphrased). Men are powerful and women don't need to seek power, they are there to support men and receive from men.
Here is the full quote from the article
"Bhogal previously gave DailyMail.com an insight into Mangione's political views, including that he is, in his friend's opinion, 'anti-woke'.

'He was left-wing on some things and right-wing on others,' Bhogal recalled. 'For instance, he was pro-equality of opportunity, but anti-woke: for example anti-DEI (and) anti-identity politics.

'He opposed woke-ism because he didn’t believe it was an effective way to help minorities.

'He expressed interest in more rational, evidence-based forms of compassion, like effective altruism.'

I don't recall ever hearing the term effective altruism. It means pretty much what you might think but here is the

LM’s attorney, Dickey, on CNN saying he hasn’t seen any evidence so can’t comment but the evidence will be challenged and his client will “definitely plead not guilty.”

How is he so certain about a NG plea when he hasn’t seen any evidence? I can’t stand when attorneys gaslight people. Like the Shaggy song “It Wasn’t Me…”

I suspected this was nonsense:

Bag of bullets found in Central Park ruled out as being linked to UHC CEO's murder: sources

By Joe Marino
A bag of bullets found by a person walking their dog in Central Park on Tuesday has been ruled out as being connected to the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The bullets in the Ziploc bag were of a different caliber than those used in Thompson’s slaying, sources said Wednesday.
You are great at sniffing out the fakery. But now I am wondering if they found any bullets on LM when he was arrested, either in or out of the weapon, and if not, did he discard any bullets after the shooting?

I think effective altruism is what Sam Bankman-Fried espoused. Of course he instead bilked people out of their money.

IANAL, but I have been following true crime for a while now, and I have observed that many attorneys advise their clients to plead not guilty, perhaps because it allows for plea deals. Maybe other reasons, too?

Man the DM is really reaching with this cruel mother complaint bit. Now it's "evidence"

The evidence of Mangione's interest in the damage parents can do comes after it emerged he had accused his mother of forcing him to eat in a cruel way as a child.
[snip]
making him eat steak with his right hand, even though he is lefthanded, 'out of adherence to social norms.'
Mangione's last message to me seemed a cry for help... I didn't reply

I was born leftie. It was common practice when I entered kindergarten for school teachers to insist their students learn to write right. So I was forced to write with my right. I did so poorly, my penmanship was awful but it got the job done. Then in 2nd grade, I broke my right wrist and had to write with my left for several months. That was difficult and also not pretty because I had had the lefty "forced" out of me. Today I can write better (but not pretty) with my right, I can eat with either and throw catch with either.

Was I treated cruelly? nope, was I forced to do something I wasn't happy about? yep. Am I complaining about it? nope. It simply wasn't that big a deal.

Do better daily mail.
Bbm.
Yes, you do have a good point.
The article was slanted in an unfairly negative way and you're correct, there wasn't 'cruelty' described in Luigi's own words.
Only a mention of them wanting him to follow societal norms, which imo is understandable.
My opinion is that I should have read the article more carefully before posting it, so apologies & thanks for the clarification.

As a caveat; I do think sometimes in the DailyMail -- which some consider a tabloid -- there are occasional worthwhile articles but one has to sift carefully.
It sometimes depends on the writer ?

This article linked from the DM by @Jinkasaurus by a different writer, was a worthwhile read, imo.

They did. So they found 6 at the scene (3 spent/3 unspent), and a total of 7 more on him.

That magazine with the photo of the gun looked like a 15 round one to me. That means that he either started out with 13 rounds, or 2-3 are missing.

The fact that one round was a hollow point and the rest were not, tells me that he most likely didn't purchase this ammo; he probably got it from someone.

What police say they found in his backpack

The charging document states that officers searched Mangione's backpack and found a black pistol and a black silencer, both of which were 3D-printed. The pistol had a metal slide and a plastic handle with a metal-threaded barrel, according to the charging document. The pistol had one loaded Glock magazine with six 9-mm rounds, and a loose 9-mm hollow point round was also found.

It's always not guilty at this stage. There's tons of time to work out a plea deal down the road, and there's just no benefit to doing that.

How does one go from engineering to a car salesman?
There could be truth to the "gap"
Removing my post b/c this was already clarified.

Because every single defendant enters a not guilty plea at the start of criminal proceedings. I cannot imagine a judge would even allow a guilty plea at this extremely early stage.

Obviously, I don't know how old you are, or where you were educated on the early years. But I'm up there, starting school on the mid 50s, but I didn't experience any of the "forcing " that others are stating. I was always pretty ambi, but writing was always lefty. no one ever tried to change me.

My point is that saying “haven’t seen any evidence” while simultaneously saying “definitely not guilty” is disingenuous. Better to just say “haven’t yet reviewed evidence” and plead NG at a later time. If you’re going to go for NG, at least have the presence of mind to twist the facts around after reviewing evidence - pretend you actually have a case. That’s one reason I don’t have much regard for defense attorneys - wanting to get the “win” at any cost regardless of the truth of the matter.

I bet mental health issues started creeping in.
Very curious if he was taking pain medication at the time, or perhaps SSRIs.

He didn’t enter a plea. It’s not time to do so yet. That’s why it’s so stupid to say that at this point in time. He just said it will be NG, without having any evidence. Guess he’s not interested in building any credibility.

ETA: better yet, just stay out of the media for the time being. Wait for the right time to make claims

Even if so, he's sane, knows right from wrong, and to me it does not matter if he was taking them or not.

He said it will be not guilty because it will be not guilty. Again, that is always what happens in the very early stages, so it’s not stupid to say. LM can always change his plea to guilty at a later date. There’s no option to forego entering a plea until you decide for sure.

I guess it could also be the way he was taught to shoot too. I'm right handed and it would be awkward to do anything with my left.
I’m wondering about this. It’s interesting the example Luigi gave was about steak, specifically. Steak often also involves using a knife to cut a slice, then eating the slice with a fork.

I read that the European way of eating steak is different from the American way.
In the European way, you keep the fork in the same hand throughout the meal, whereas the American method involves switching the hand that holds the fork after cutting.

Is his mother originally from Europe, perchance? Maybe she wasn’t being cruel, but was trying to teach him the different manner of eating it in the US vs Europe.

Just thoughts.
