A photo of Mangione in intake is shown on the screen- he's wearing dark blue jeans, a navy blue long-sleeve athletic shirt and black socksl.

Heuston said they took this photo for NYPD.Heuston says he thinks the photo was taken possibly at 11:30AM.

I don't think I've ever seen this photo before?? Maybe I don't remember.

Heuston is viewing a partial redacted copy of his incident report at the witness stand.

State: Does that document fairly reflect the items you logged into evidence?

Heuston: Yes

State: Was the inventory process over when you completed or did it continue in another location?

Heuston confirms that it did continue, due to not having enough room where they were in intake. They moved to a conference room upstairs for more space- more photos were taken and logged.

We are viewing Heuston's incident report where he lists all of the evidence found.

We are viewing another portion of the report labeled, "Disposition," where Heuston explains you write a general synopsis, but don't have to "list every single thing."

Viewing a document that lists Mangione’s emergency contact as his mother, with her information redacted. The form also indicates- by an “X” marked next to “No”- that he has no medical problems, no visible injuries, and is not suspected of using controlled substances or alcohol.

It further notes that he was held in Cell #2.

State asks about information provided to Heuston from NYPD Homicide Detective Oscar Diaz, when they finally made contact. He reads from a report, which details the December 4th, 2024 shooting incident- the information provided sounded like the same information that the public had at the time.

State asks if there is any mention of Officer Wasser or Fox (who searched the backpack) in the report.

Heuston is speaking about the warrant they obtained later that night.

State: Did DA Weeks make any comment on any money that was taken from the defendant upon his arrest?

Heuston: Yes, he said he had over $7000

State asks if the defendant made any comment about this money.

Heuston: He made an utterance, made a comment that he had less than $100...

State: What protection did Altoona PD have, in taking photo evidence and documenting?

Heuston explained they photographed all of the cash. No further questions, short break before cross.

Watching BWC from 10:33AM at Intake. Heuston is heard and seen on the phone saying they have "lots of goodies here." BWC was turned off at 10:34AM.

KA: The goodies you were referring to, you thought would help the NYPD in their case?

Heuston: Yes

KA asks about Heuston working with an NYPD Detective named McCann- he says he was in contact with them as they were en route to Altoona, as well as the Manhattan DA's office.

KA: So this inventory search you were doing was for the NY case, not the PA case?

Heuston disagrees and says they would have to do the inventory search from the search incident arrest, regardless.

KA is asking Heuston about placing items in large envelopes ,per another officer's report. Heuston said yes, manilla envelopes were used to bring to certain items to Featherstone's office.

KA: So some items were in the Lowe's bag, and some in envelopes? Do you have any recollection on which items were carried by hand or which were carried in envelopes?

KA: In the incident report, you wrote there was a flash drive, but that has nothing to do with the PA?

Heuston: No, that's why we transferred to NYPD

KA: You also transferred the ID and that has to do with the PA case?

Heuston says the NY case supersede PA.

KA: Do you typically write search warrants as part of your job?

Heuston: yes

KA: Did you consult with the NYPD on the warrant?

Heuston: I had to, I needed information from somone who had actual working knowledge of the probable cause

KA: Did you consult with the Manhattan DA's office?

Heuston: I did

KA: Did you make any changes on recomendations of the prosecutors?

Heuston: I believe they made some changes, yes

KA brings up that Heuston began communicating with the FBI and other law enforcement about what he read in the red notebook and the hand-written notes.

KA: Was Wasser involved in the inventory search?

Heuston: Yes, inventory and search to arrest incident happens simultaneously.

KA asks if Wasser came back to Featherstone's office for the second search and inventory- he said yes.

There was a third, and Heuston doesn't know if she was present for that.

KA asks if he was present Featherstone compiled the inventory list- he doesn't believe he was.

No further questions, Seidemann stands for redirect.

State: Did you read writing in the manifesto?

Objection to the use of word manifesto.

Carro allows and says that's what Altoona PD had called it.

I went back to the initial defense questioning McCoy’s weight in December 2024. The gallery looked genuinely surprised when he said he was pushing 300 pounds back then, as he definitely does not weigh that now. There was no point to this at all, lol . Was it just intended just to rattle him or something No other officers were asked about their weight.
