If what the state believes is accurate, he had already returned to the area of King Rd residence and gotten back home a short while before taking the photo.

According to the state...GPS data is consistent with his phone leaving Pullman at 9:00am, getting within area of King Road from 9:12-9:21, and traveling back to Pullman at 9:32.
Thought of this as well. I think that’s part of the reason he’s so happy with himself in the selfie. He didn’t see any police, etc near the home yet after going that morning. He probably went home and showered and bleached himself & the apartment like 5x again before taking his selfie. Why is he wearing a shirt like for a job interview or church.

Then his behavior matches with his being so happy with himself. They said he was less nasty and not as tough grading students, etc after the murders. He accomplished what he undoubtedly dreamed of doing for years. Think he was waiting to move out of the PA area to kill. Thought he'd bought it far enough in advance for plausible deniability. We also know why he made mistakes. Not the genius he portrayed himself to be per his IQ. That is also why he was so odious according to others trying to make other people feel stupid- because he wasn't all that smart.

I hope the firing squad includes Steve Goncalves and any of the other parents who want. Evil incarnate.

the thing I can't wrap my head around is that house is so rambling. How did he know how to get around in it? Or in real is it easier to find your way? The virtual diagram to me, if I were a juror, would be so confusing. All those levels stacked on top of each other.

He had to have cased that place out numerous times. It is possible he was inside of it as well??
Although we cannot answer these questions for certain, GPS history seems to indicate that BK's phone had been around the 1122 King Road residence at least a dozen times prior to the night of the murders, so it is not a reach to assume that he had checked out the house on more than one occasion. I dare say it is very likely that he had even parked his car at the lot kind of beside and to the rear of the house, and had gotten out and watched the goings on inside, late at night. I think it is reasonable to suspect that, even if he did not know the names of the occupants, he may have known where the bedrooms were, and whose bedroom was where. IIRC, drawn curtains were not a priority in at least some of the pics I have seen of the home. It also has been opined here by some, and I agree, that he very well may have physically checked the sliding glass door before the night of the murders, to make sure that it either remained unlocked usually, or that it was relatively easy to get in, even if locked. Btw, I do not recall reading that the door was found damaged, but it has been a long time since I delved into every aspect of this case, so, If I am wrong about this, perhaps someone will correct me. I do know that it is relatively easy to get past a sliding glass door. If he was bold enough to have physically checked the sliding glass door at any previous time, he may have been bold enough to step inside and look around, as well. Finally, as has been mentioned by a few posters already, Zillow and other real estate sites would have been great places to check out the layout ahead of time. Many of us did, immediately after learning of the murders. JMO

Go to Mass? Have I missed something? BK is a practicing Catholic?

I'm not the poster you quoted but I think some people were speculating BK could have attempted to perform a usual and even 'godly' routine that day, possibly dressing for worship at where ever. I don't think we know if he has a religion do we? Or if his family of origin raised him in a religion or he practices or believes anything.

That's my feeling. I think he snuck in during a party, beer in hand so not to look out of place, walked the floor plan a few times, or maybe just once up and down trying his darndest to memorize the lay of the land, and then left before people realized he didn't belong. Sure, I'm sure partygoers won't know 100% of attendees in large parties like they had, but he doesn't fit in age-wise. Also, we all know he's awkward so I can't imagine he'd be able to do small talk with a bunch of drunk/high college kids. He had to get out before he was noticed.

I've posted a partial blueprint of the 2nd floor upthread... so could he have obtained a copy of the blueprint/layout somehow since my source had it? Still, it's a confusing layout IMO so even if he did that I know I'd feel more comfortable if I had actually walked and seen it with my own eyes. Something tells me he did that.

I also wonder if anything was missing after he crashed a party. Like... a pair of undies, a comb, lipstick... something.

All JMO.
I always thought a mask etc of Halloween, two weeks prior, presented the perfect opportunity to get in undetected. Wonder if there is any digital footprint or he turned his phone off. Also, if you hear about that other place where the woman had her panties & other items moved around, etc that they suspect him, I think he likely cased the place to find a time when when no one would be home to go in there.

Compare these two photos, whoa!

What a change in his appearance. Looks like being incarcerated works for him. If I were a juror I would wonder what was going on in his life when he took the selfie, he looks horrible...all jmo.

Such an improvement would prop up my personal speculation that he was heavily using some sort of substance, possibly an 'upper' or amphetamine based drug.

Most people look worse after a while in jail due to lack of sunlight, poor diet, lack of exercise etc. Except chronic drug users, they always look rapidly improved.

Also he could be getting sleeping meds and maybe sleeping far better. Plus he's safe from harm or revenge on the inside and life is predicable and repetitive. If he's truly ASD and has OCD issues, he could be more stable on the inside than out with better mental health management meds.

He could even be making friends in there helping people with practical and literacy things (a la Sarah Boone who seems to thrive in prison) if he's not 24/7 isolated. JMO MOO

Bloody crime scene, I expect AT to try to explain that BK's ASD and OCD preclude him from the crime because he wouldn't willingly get blood in his eyes. Something she'll exaggerate in her opening statement and never deliver on. Whatever peculiarities BK may have had, his desire to drive across town, break into a house he had no visions being in and commit murder overrode any holdback.

But there's this too. If he only intended to find and kill one victim, gloved up, where would he have encountered blood? I think his design was to kill quickly with efficiency, without being any blood on himself, face included.

JMO

BBM.

Since DM's description mentioned his eyebrows & some type of head/partial face covering but *didn't mention* goggles or safety glasses or some kind of eye protection, is this going to be defense's plan to throw shade on DM's witness account while also trying to preclude BK due to his ASD & OCD?

(He had a previous job gutting fish, correct? If so, would it get mentioned? Did he routinely wear protective eyewear there [if not required by the workplace]?)

He may have looked at the layout online, but I don't think it would be difficult to navigate if he didn't. The upstairs rooms were very visible from the back of the house. Once he went through the sliding door, the stairs were right there. At that point, they were unaware of his presence so he could have easily come through the kitchen and looked around and spotted the stairs.

When he came through the next morning and the town was still quiet and he was the only one who knew what was inside that house--it must have given him the biggest thrill to have that knowledge that no one else had.

Aren’t there interior photos online? I thought I remembered seeing them way back when. I think they were related to real estate marketing — either sales listing or for rental.

If I am remembering correctly, Mr. Super-Sleuth BJ probably researched the interior online. MOO.

If we found them why couldn’t BK?
I like this source. It has drawn layouts, blueprints, and the real layout which I've cued up for you. Also note that you can click and drag to look around. Hoovering over the thumbnails at the bottom will tell you where you are. I'd prefer a real estate site where you can literally walk the halls like how Google maps work, but this is 2nd best. :)

I’m way behind so forgive me for posting something that I’m sure has been posted 1000x already, which I’ll see when I catch up:

He looks so freaking SATIATED in the thumbs-up picture. I cannot bear it.

Satiated, satisfied, fulfilled.

Also proud, relaxed, relieved.

“Job well done,” I imagine he’s thinking to himself.

IMO he’s so pleased after all his planning that it went so “smoothly,” as far as he knew at the time.

This picture is after the murders, but before the morning when he took another ride to the murder scene. Probably wanting to relive it and bask in his “success.”

Before he knew he was the suspect.

He must have known by then that he’d left the sheath behind, but figured he’d gotten away with it and no one would know it was him. (Yay to DNA)!; Or possibly returned to the scene in hopes of finding the sheath?

If his intent was to kill just one, he looks very contented that he killed a “bonus” three more kids.

It’s really indisputable that BK is the murderer. The DNA (yay again DNA)! and the knife purchases really just end the last of anything the defense cares to say.

In my opinion, of course.
I think the selfie was taken after the drive by that morning. Right?

I think they might come already gutted? Either way, he said he cut fish/was a fish cutter.

Bryan Kohberger, the accused killer of four Idaho college kids, reportedly once bragged about his boxing routine, weight loss, and previous work as a “fish cutter” on a 2015 application for a job in his hometown school district.

The criminology Ph.D. student also said he “cut fish to the specifications of the customer” while working at Big Brown Fish & Pay Lakes in Effort, Pennsylvania.

Do we know anything about the lighting in the house? Would there have been any lights on, would curtains be open, enough street lighting coming in? Could BK have had a torch?
The two sets of sliders made those rooms pretty visible when lights were on. Not sure what lights were on at 4 am, other than the twinkle strands and the Good Vibes that remained on for some days after the murders. The house looked pretty well lit in the background of that footage from earlier in the evening, when LE was nearby and you could see a white car in the background. There was plenty of information on social media showing the house interior, but I will say the layout was very confusing.
Great idea.

Also I just realised yes the ear buds are out of place and seem really odd in a bathroom.

Maybe he was taking the pic to give product feedback or buyer feedback after purchasing them. Maybe they're those ones that reduce noise or assist tinnitus etc? And ultimately the purpose is to show that all is regular in his world.

JMO
Could he have been on the phone, with earbuds in, even FaceTiming, and snapped a photo/took a screenshot? I think it was about geotagging for him, part of his perfect crime.
Anyone know what payot is? They are the side curls that some Orthodox men wear. The earbuds looked like payot at first glance, to me. With the buttoned up shirt, his wet hair almost making it look like he had a yarmulke on, I would say I saw an Orthodox man. Just goes to show you that your mind interprets images in its own unique way. I think DM was very honest in her interviews and never tried to make her remembrances fit a scenario. She wasn’t trying to please LE in any way.

  • #635
I know that's what they're saying, but I still think there's room for interpretation on that. Maybe BK targeted a house full of pretty young sorority girls, the kind that he could never hope to date. IDK

JMO
I agree.

On his forehead? Just guessing
If he did , he wasn’t wearing it on the way out or roommate wouldn’t have seen his bushy eyebrows just bright light and figure shadowed.

JMO, but I always felt like XK went down to the first floor to wait for her DoorDash delivery when BK entered the second floor sliding door going up to the third floor and murdered MM & KC, after she got her delivery then XK went up to the second floor living room and sat on the couch on her phone as she saw BK on the second floor near her room and BK said “It’s ok, I’m going to help you”….she and EC were murdered…XK putting up a struggle.

I didn't see this mentioned yet--confirmation of DM's height and her correctly identifying BK's height:

Regarding his height, she reported “I’m 5’10” so he’s probably around 6’.
Thanks for confirming. It was very obvious, to me anyway, just from the last group pic taken earlier in the day of Nov 12, that she was quite a bit taller than the other girls, and taller than the 5'7" or 5'8" that was being bandied around by some. JMO

Could be. Except she was found inside her room per Brett Payne's statement/Exhibit A. I suppose she could have run there but with both her and E found in the room, I doubt it.

Which leads to a question... since they were found in her room, and likely were there when BK struck... why did he kill them? Planned? Hence him opening her door which would have likely been closed if she was going to go to bed after eating. Or, was it like you said? She was in the living room (so she had to have run there since she was found inside her bedroom).

yes I saw them online. But getting inside the place would it not be all confusing? He had to have practiced I would think. I go into a doctors office over and over and I'm still unoriented when I come out. I don't question he did it. I just wonder how long he planned it all out. Literally
