Defense got nothing... Similar to most defense case (not all) but most, they're reaching. Their story makes no sense- y'all know what that means. jmo
State also has very little, I just hope they have more than they offered in openings, but as I have posted before I doubt any juror will vote NG, and have to live with the post trial ramifications
But I will follow along and judge the evidence, the lawyering and have many opinions as we go

I was surprised. Killer(s) gets away with kidnapping two girls, brings them somewhere and kills them. Instead of driving for miles and finding a secluded dump spot, it's decided yeahh bring them back to the very place guaranteed to be teaming with cops and searchers. Who are they going to say did these crimes Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum? Just moronic, IMO AJMO
I would have been surprised if the D hadn't telegraphed that this was their theory for months now.

I don't think it is a plausible theory, but ... yeah. Not surprised.

Doesn't have to be, they don't have to prove or disprove anything state has the total burden
But they did it, can't be undone. They told the jury a farcical tale that makes absolutely no sense and can be disproved with evidence, with Libby's phone....and with every juror's common sense. They're done, they sunk their boat right off the bat with the silliest story they could tell. I wish I could have seen the juror's faces react to it. Just wait until the confessions are played and read. BARD. AJMO

We dont know everything the state has yet. jmo

it has been a long time since i read this so it might be wrong but didn't when they released Libby's video with the audio clip "guys, down the hill" didn't the investigators say that the words were clipped together and that it wasn't a whole sentence of him saying "guys, down the hill" but that they had taken two pieces of audio and clipped together. I am just wondering if there will be more audio possibly played for the jury or the full video played and that may be a strong piece of evidence, kind of like how we heard the awful full clip in Letecia's trial where Gannon said "i'm just worried about my burns" at the end of it and nobody ever heard that before. I believe the State has what it needs to prove RA Guilty BARD, I also have more faith in jurors than to think they would be worried about post trial ramifications regarding their vote, especially since they are sequestered and their ID kept private.

We'll all just muddle along judging the evidence, the lawyering, and opining as many of us have for the last 7 years.

It's past time for #Justice4Abby&Libby and I'm here for it. :)

I seem recall that as well. I also recall MSM articles saying that was just a wee clip of the audio/video they had (or words to that affect). I haven't stayed up to date on this case so I don't know if I'm even recalling this correctly.

Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland in his opening statement Friday alleged that Richard Allen forced Abigail “Abby” Williams and Liberty “Libby” German down a hill near the Monon High Bridge trail and killed them.

The girls were hiking along the trail on Feb. 13, 2017, “a nice summer day in the middle of winter,” McLeland told jurors. A little after 2 p.m., the girls reached the famous high bridge. Allen, McLeland alleges, was following them.

He “pulls out a gun and forces them down the hill,” McLeland said, adding that the video that Libby was taking on her phone shut off around this time.

“Out of fear, the girls comply,” McLeland told the five men and seven women jurors. Allen, he added, “had the power.”

The girls disappeared, and their bodies were found along Deer Creek the next day. Their throats had been slit. Libby was found naked and covered in blood, McLeland told jurors as he choked up. Abby was wearing Libby’s sweatshirt and jeans, while the rest of the clothes were found in the nearby creek.

I don’t believe a juror is supposed to base his or her decision based on how it’s going to affect them personally after the trial. IMO

what does the state have? Lets take stock shall we? They had enough evidence to get the search warrant for RA's home and vehicle from a judge and that was later upheld by a ruling from this court. They have enough to defeat not one, not two, not three, but four Franks Motions and an argument to present a SODDI defense that is NOT based in allowable evidence the defense could produce.

They have a bullet that their expert will testify was cycled through RA's weapon. They have 60 plus confessions from RA.

And that's just what we KNOW the State has. They haven't been out showing their cards or theories to the public by way of overly verbose motions that are heavy on speculation and light on facts.

As always - JMO

The "Guys" might be out of order I think?

remember - the defence needs to do zero

the burden is with the state to prove this beyond reasonable doubt

if they cannot make an impressive opening statement, it kind of means that they have no fireworks.....he cannot be convicted based upon anything i've seen or heard yet in this whole thing

i actually don't want anyone convicted based upon a half baked case which has taken years to build

DELPHI BREAKING COURT DETAILS: Opening statements in the Delphi murders case against suspect Richard Allen are finished. The jury has already heard from their first witness – Libby German’s relatives. The prosecution began their open statements by laying out its case saying Richard Allen is “bridge guy.” They say he is the man Libby captured on her phone of a man on the bridge.Prosecution also stated Allen matches the description of a man seen on the Monon High Bridge minutes before the girls were abducted, that he confessed to details only the killer would know, and they talked about the bullet found at the crime scene. They said it matches Allen’s gun.The defense’s opening statement focused on inconsistent witness descriptions, their client’s mental health and added bullet testing is inconclusive. They added the girls were likely abducted on Monday afternoon, driven away from the bridge, and killed somewhere else. The defense told the jurors they believe Abby and Libby’s bodies were then placed near the bank of Deer Creek early Tuesday morning.Allen's attorneys said law enforcement can not explain the hair found intertwined on Abby’s hands that doesn’t match Richard Allen. The defense asked jurors to consider there is no DNA linking Allen to the murders. The judge ruled the suspect sketches will not be admissible in court. So, the jurors will not be able to use those in considering Allen’s guilt. Four journalists already banned from the trial - accused of taking video of the juror’s van.

The Defense should tackle the timeline rather than argue the girls were taken somewhere else and unalived elsewhere.

And as for the State, they aren't really adding more in their Opening to what went down during the 3 Day Hearing this year.

This trial may be a short one.
