Anyone have an idea on how Ganote and Hanley have heard from inside the courtroom, when there seemingly hasn't been a break yet?

lol. Driven away, killed somewhere else, and kindly returned to the most dangerous location to a perpetrator; the place the victims disappeared from, and the place where people would be looking for them.

They should go with literally anything but this. It’s not just stupid, it’s insane.
I think that it's a pretty ridiculous theory of events that a jury will find hard to believe.

But then, I know what they WANTED to argue happened, and in comparison, at this point, it's fairly normal. Completely implausible, but less out there than anything proposed in one of the Franks.

we are like 2 hours in to a trial that is i think i read supposed to take a month. we know nothing yet. and the way it's going, we aren't going to know much until the final verdict.

Absolutely no surprises in the opening statements, IMO. Lets see how each side will go about laying their cases. Thank you for sharing!
I was surprised. Killer(s) gets away with kidnapping two girls, brings them somewhere and kills them. Instead of driving for miles and finding a secluded dump spot, it's decided yeahh bring them back to the very place guaranteed to be teaming with cops and searchers. Who are they going to say did these crimes Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum? Just moronic, IMO AJMO

Can you imagine how difficult that would have been while having a baby goat in your jacket?

Their source left the courtroom or they are on a lunch break?

Maybe the prosecutor will fatten it up a bit as time goes by?
I'm not as sure as you that he'll walk. It's iffy. IMO

What do you think of the defense's scenario? Is it plausible?

so neither witness who gave descriptions for sketches are being called by state, I wonder if defence will call them, the jury will then be left to ponder why the state never called them

The defense’s opening statement focused on inconsistent witness descriptions, their client’s mental health and added bullet testing is inconclusive. They added the girls were likely abducted on Monday afternoon, driven away from the bridge, and killed somewhere else.
The defense told the jurors they believe Abby and Libby’s bodies were then placed near the bank of Deer Creek early Tuesday morning.

Allen's attorneys said law enforcement can not explain the hair found intertwined on Abby’s hands that doesn’t match Richard Allen. The defense asked jurors to consider there is no DNA linking Allen to the murders.

So the DT is still going with the girls removed from the area taken elsewhere and killed only to be returned to the location they were found at the following morning, while the woods and trails were crawling with LE and search volunteers, friend and family of the missing girls.

I think this is a mistake on their part and maybe why they decided at the eleventh hour to withdraw their field trip to monon high bridge ;) I suspect a trip to the scene of the crime would only serve to highlight how very unlikely it is that events happened as they describe.

As Always - JMO
Defense got nothing... Similar to most defense case (not all) but most, they're reaching. Their story makes no sense- y'all know what that means. jmo

Doesn't have to be, they don't have to prove or disprove anything state has the total burden

I don't think we know this yet, do we?

DELPHI BREAKING COURT DETAILS: Opening statements in the Delphi murders case against suspect Richard Allen are finished. The jury has already heard from their first witness – Libby German’s relatives. The prosecution began their open statements by laying out its case saying Richard Allen is “bridge guy.” They say he is the man Libby captured on her phone of a man on the bridge.Prosecution also stated Allen matches the description of a man seen on the Monon High Bridge minutes before the girls were abducted, that he confessed to details only the killer would know, and they talked about the bullet found at the crime scene. They said it matches Allen’s gun.The defense’s opening statement focused on inconsistent witness descriptions, their client’s mental health and added bullet testing is inconclusive. They added the girls were likely abducted on Monday afternoon, driven away from the bridge, and killed somewhere else. The defense told the jurors they believe Abby and Libby’s bodies were then placed near the bank of Deer Creek early Tuesday morning.Allen's attorneys said law enforcement can not explain the hair found intertwined on Abby’s hands that doesn’t match Richard Allen. The defense asked jurors to consider there is no DNA linking Allen to the murders. The judge ruled the suspect sketches will not be admissible in court. So, the jurors will not be able to use those in considering Allen’s guilt. Four journalists already banned from the trial - accused of taking video of the juror’s van.
