Signs shouting out their favourite Youtubers, DD and C and whatnot... It is not a WWE fight, it is a trial for the murder of two girls.

I am just shaking my head today.

All MOO
Even as a true-crime person, I despise that people treat this like a fandom, show up in person, harass people, follow content creators who bait them for clicks.

Comparing it to WWE is perfect.

We have the rule of law here, not mob rule, not pep-rally rule.

Yuck.

Unfortunately those very people work to engineer this ...

MOO
That’s what pisses me off about this trial not being televised.

YouTubers have influence before trial because they can get access to information the public cannot; they have the ability to shape the narrative.

With a televised trial though, they lose that power. They can’t tell us much we don’t already know.

Here however, they can cherry pick testimony, misrepresent things, and completely get stuff wrong.

Who can forget the “no rape kit.”

They are in the jury room but they can't join in with deliberations. They have to remain engaged with the jury's deliberations.
What if an alternate jumps in and disagrees with a regular juror? Would there be a mistrial?

I doubt that would be enough for a mistrial, but I would assume the other jurors would report the misbehavior to the judge and likely that person would be removed for inability to act like an adult.

Repeating myself:

I haven't followed this case very closely until the trial. I think RA is guilty based on what I've heard and seen from the trial.

But I wasn't there every day for the whole thing, and the jurors were. No one can say they didn't ask intelligent questions. So I trust their judgment. If they deem RA not guilty, I'm okay with that. They decided the state didn't prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

As far as I can tell, the legal system is working as it was intended to.
Very nice and if he is found guilty, although in my heart I’ll feel justice was not served for Abby and Libby, but I will respect the jurors decision.
God bless us all.

If anyone had any doubts as to what side Lawyer Lee is batting for, they are clustered with BM from DD and AB. No opinions from me, just good to see birds of a feather flocking together. I am sure BM will find some time to tweet something fiery that gets even more pro-DT fans to write even more terrible signs and display them in front of the victims' families.

All MOO, but I have no compassion for their rhetoric.

I’m ok with whatever verdict they deliver. IMO it’s a close call.
Definitely, the majority in here seems to believe RA is guilty, so we shall see.

I wonder if when they are all together on off duty hours, at dinner or at the hotel, if the alternates get a few words in?
In theory they are not allowed to talk about the case outside the courthouse. Hopefully they are allowed to talk about the weather or their own personal lives, bless.

I've seen a lot of people say that they hope that Libby's video is made public after the trial.

In last night's The Murder Sheet episode, they talked about how during the closing the prosecution played the video again, first the un-enhanced version followed by the stabilized version. Last time it was shown in court, the hosts were seated at awkward angle to the screen. Yesterday they had a good view of it.

Both of them stated that the fear in Abby's face as she hurries toward Libby is visible, obvious, and heartbreaking.

I don't want to see that part. Ever.

They did mention how you see BG somewhat in the distance at first, then the camera goes down for a bit, and the next time it comes up he is much much closer before the camera then goes quickly downward again and is followed shortly by "Guys..."

When I heard them describe this on the MS it broke my heart because that is exactly the way I've felt. See below for what I mentioned:

Yep, seems RA has no shortage of knowledgeable professionals supporting him—I saw an interview the other day where even his former defense attorney believes he is completely innocent

This article is chock full of new stuff I've never heard and a lot of quotes like...

Allen said, “The funniest joke is how I killed them. “

and this...

“I don’t think I had sex with him, but if I did, I don’t remember,” he told her [to Dr. Wala] (I think the the "him" is supposed to be a "them", a misprint?)

There should be civil action taken by the families against AB for allowing the crime scene photos leak, just straight up gross negligence on his part, IMO. And it's possible by the 5 men publically called murderers with not one shred of admissible evidence, Also JMO

MOO

I'm thinking those 5 men should look into a class action. It would hold much more weight, IMO. And before my post is 'corrected' I do not believe anyone can state for a fact that a lawsuit is not possible. This is my opinion.

And so agree that a suit for neglect should be filed for crime scene materials to be left in an unlocked room.

I would be a terrible alternate because I couldn’t keep my mouth shut.
Same here- I’d get tossed out I’m afraid!

True and JG, not sure what she was thinking.

From what we have seen some of them are ppl without means, one of them reportedly has IQ in the 70s. Some of them have criminal record, I doubt they would be eager to get involved any further.

The DT knows who to target; people without the ability to complain too loudly.

All MOO

IMO She's thrown the baby out with the bathwater. Some media people were behaving bad? Cut the legs off all media coverage. Shaking my head, far too much today.

??? I’m not understanding what you mean?

Yes I am basing that on what has come out from the court room. It is obvious the sticks did not land the way they did randomly-IMO
And imo some of those branches would be too heavy to toss so unable to land

Agree. Great point.

It isn't just about transparency (even if it ought to be) -- it's also about the power of for-profit influencers who can peddle alternative facts and be ambassadors for any number of narratives, however absurd. We know the power of disinformation to shift minds and distort critical truths -- even on a national scale.

You need no journalistic, legal or forensic training for these occupations (though some of course have it), just the ability to find and retain followers. And if you're wrong? Who cares? Nothing depends on it, and you're not liable for anything, as a "content creator." As we know it can pay just as well, or better, to be wrong as it does to be right.

Fortunately in this case I think we've got a strong jury. But the story may not end with their verdict.
