CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lilly Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025 #3

If they were lying I find it strange they chose to say the sliding door was closed. Would be much more believable to say the door was open so I called 911 immediately. Could be one of many details that were overlooked or is it possible someone was around the trailer that day (the grandma or someone else) that would’ve disputed the door being open. I know there is only news saying the grandmother had dogs and cats but it could be possible they had animals that would’ve likely escaped had the door been left open so they had to say the door was found closed.

A little bit of a stretch in questions there but having trouble believing their story and at the same time having trouble thinking about why they would choose to lie in the way they did IF they were lying. Purely hypotheticals
What you’re saying is relevant. I was reading that DM was always having to close the door after the kids. So, IMO, the kids closing the door after themselves is important.

So you’re saying that if the school can’t get ahold of the parent whose child is absent they just let an automated system call the parent/secondary contact all day and not take further steps? That seems highly irresponsible if true.
This is what happens in Ontario. My daughter has been off for a week before, no questions asked by the office. One teacher casually asked one of my other kids if my daughter was okay, but it was quite casual…

Understood. So in my opinion that is a faulty application for schools to use. Could result in a situation where children end up missing or dead because it took multiple days for anyone to realize something was wrong….
Don't get me started on this stupid, useless app. Part of the reason it exists now is because of the kidnapping/SA/murder of little Tori Stafford (she has a thread here) in the town I live in. By the time it went into use in all schools, we used to comment all the time how useless it was. If one of my kids didn't go to school and I'd forget to call the app, we'd get a notice around 9:30 and then not another one until after dinner time. EVERY time. If I had no idea my kid wasn't at school, I'd NEVER KNOW they were missing if I missed the morning notice, and didn't catch it until dinner time. I don't mean to go off topic but when kids go missing, stupid automated apps don't help like a real person can.

If I may be maudlin for a moment.

I'm not a parent but I like kids and I enjoy interacting with little kids, especially ones around Lily and Jack's age. They are endlessly curious and say whatever is on their minds, no filters.

It just breaks my heart that these two precious souls are most likely no longer in the world.
And sometimes that endless curiosity can have serious outcomes. From finding an improperly stored loaded gun, drowning in a pool or pond where there is no adult supervision, falling downstairs while unsupervised to poisoning from ingesting improperly stored drugs whether legal or illegal.

You’re saying your daughter was off for a week and you did not inform the school or app or return the calls for whatever reason and the school just left it?

So we have Lilly seen in the morning ,dressed in pink and with her back back ,suffering from a cough which has caused her to miss school.

Jack not seen, but heard in the kitchen ,wearing a diaper which no one mentioned changing that morning,no named clothing except for boots. No mention of being ill.
No mention of anything he took with him . .

Might be onto something pulling this particular thread.

Eta: not only did they see Lilly, but spoke to her.

Not across the board ... s. My kids' elementary school in Ontario is pretty aggressive about following up. First, I get automated calls and emails, and then, if I don't respond, the administrators call and leave messages.

I'm totally fearful of forgetting to report an absence after the time I let it get to that. ^^

I assure you, we could have an entire thread about this app alone and the horror stories parents could tell.
That aside, I suppose LE has already verified whatever the app recorded for Thursday & Friday.

Interesting to know. It doesn’t surprise me unfortunately.

I agree. The descriptions given enable one hearing or reading them to imagine Lilly alive and dressed and carrying her white with strawberry backpack after having peeked her head into the bedroom door multiple times. By comparison, heard-but-not-seen, dressed in nothing but a pull-up Jack seems a nonentity - and he is the younger, so more vulnerable of the two!

It is making me feel as though Jack was not there . Could they have disappeared at different times?

Theres been speculation that something happened to one, intentionally or accidently, so both children disappeared.

Maybe they woke up to just Jack having ingested something the night before.

But right now I'm leaning towards neither kid there on Friday morning.

I go back and forth on it. I agree with you and then at the same time I wonder if they are overcompensating with all the details about Lilly
The backpack stands out to me as well. DM stated how bright it was and easy to see..but would likely be all brown by now.

Plus it's another thing they wouldn't have to say, especially if it is a school bag. Why not just say the kids and boots were missing?

Yet she wanted an Amber Alert. In an interview I recall that was because she claimed not everyone knew her children were missing. More “I want”s.

The mother of the missing children, Malehya Brooks-Murray, has been calling for an Amber Alert, fearing for their safety.

“I want an Amber Alert for my children! I want my babies home,” Brooks-Murray said in a social media post.
I don't fault any parent for insisting on Amber Alerts because most people don't realize that an Amber Alert means a child has been abducted and there is a BOLO which includes description of abductee as well as abductor and possible info on a vehicle if involved. What they do remember is that it goes out over phones, TV and radio stations and other means of communication. I would think many people never stop to wonder why some kids get an Amber Alert and others don't. Until it happens to them.

I suppose it is possible something happened to one and the other , who witnessed what happened, has been taken to a safe place with a known adult and is still alive.

It's nice to hope for at least one safe kid, but I can't imagine any sane adult sitting on that info while such a massive search is taking place. That's a lot of charges they'd be facing.

Agreed. I had theorized that Martell was expecting the police to find the backpack. Maybe it is near one of the provincial borders
