CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lilly Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025 #4

This may have been addressed before, but I'm confused as to how they knew they were playing outside? In mom's interview:

"They were outside playing, but we weren’t aware of it at the time, and the next thing we knew it was quiet. We get up and I tell him, my partner, Daniel, I tell him, do you hear the kids? And he says no. We get up instantly and we’re looking outside. We’re looking everywhere, yelling for them, and I instantly just called 911. I just had the instinct I needed to call."

Weren't aware of it at the time? How are they aware of it NOW, then? Was a door left open that they didn't notice at first? I'm also wondering how big the home is, considering both parents are inside the home but don't notice the children go outside for, seemingly, a decent bit of time. MOO.

ETA: I have lived in a trailer like that before and there is no such thing as a quiet door in those damn things lol. Often the handles are stiff and hard to open, especially if they're old.
Wait...I thought the story was that they slipped out because the sliding door is magically "super quiet." That makes it sound like they didn't know they were outside at all. If they knew, then the whole deal about the quietness of the door is moot anyway, right?

Also, how were they not aware they were outside if they were able to notice it became quiet? That means they could hear them beforehand, no? So, they knew were they were, because they could hear them... God, make it make sense. There's absolutely no logic to anything they say.

''The RCMP has 12 human remains detection dogs "strategically located in divisions across Canada," said national RCMP spokesperson Amanda Perry. Four additional teams will begin training in August, she said.

And those are just RCMP dogs. It's not like any local police force nearby (likely Halifax or Montreal) is gonna be like, nah you can't use our cadaver dogs, it's not our jurisdiction.

So, they knew were they were, because they could hear them... God, make it make sense. There's absolutely no logic to anything they say.
That's right, Malehya didnt say she saw them , she said she heard them, it was Daniel that said he saw Lily poke her head in and out of the room a few times.
I hope she tells Police what she heard ( or not)

I dont think for one minute that the RCMP have a one-track mind and wasted time on a search and nothing else, maybe a search while investigating other leads, all done simultaneously and Keep people off guard. This isn't their first rodeo.
They are strategic and quiet. They don't send out a play-by-play to ease the public. What should they say? "Oh, hey Pictou County, we are now moving on to investigating the family, the neighbour, and the lady that owns the corner store."
What's important is they make sure you know about any safety concerns, anything else we need to wait for.
I think if they were at a dead end, maybe then we'd hear about it, with them begging for tips.
Sometimes, no news is good news

Family members, including the children’s stepfather, have speculated they were taken but police have remained adamant they do not believe the siblings were abducted.

That’s left some criminal experts to weigh in on why this case is raising alarm bells nationwide and beyond.

“They gave a clue and they said no abduction. That’s a big statement to make at this early in the game,” said Jim Hoskins, a retired Halifax Regional Police officer and former Major Crimes staff sergeant who is not working on the Sullivan case.
[snip]
Meanwhile, Hoskins says he believes there’s still a chance the children are close by.

“You can’t write it off and say, ‘They’re definitely not in the woods.’ I can still say, ‘You can get overlooked — you can overlook bodies,'” said Hoskins.

I find it really difficult to imagine those kids are alive alone in the bush for 3 weeks without food or water, but..... could Lilly have loaded up her backpack from the kitchen prior to leaving?? Would she know to ration their stash of food? Ontario has had miserable cold wet weather, even snow in some northern areas (sigh), how's it been on east coast for past 26 nights? Pretty tall order for a 6yr old child to know how to survive all this.
But they most definitely could still be alive in someone's house, taken by someone those kids know.
I really hope the troops from other detachments have been called in to help bolster the surveillance numbers. Keeping a close nonstop eye on these characters is the key.

Sorry but there is zero chance the kids are alive in the woods. I agree the only way they could be alive is if someone took them and that seems very unlikely.
I agree with this. Even if they took a stash of food, it likely wasn't enough for two kids (and this is assuming they would even think to take snacks). Not to mention the elements, wildlife etc. I'm a grown adult and I would question my survival skills if left alone in the woods for 3 weeks, much less small children.

An update about nothing much….

“The work to find Lilly and Jack remains very active, with a full complement of resources, tools and many investigators engaged to determine the circumstances of their disappearance,” RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Carlie McCann said Tuesday. “There are no planned air and ground searches at this time. Any future searches will be determined based on the investigation.”

She wouldn’t comment on whether the force has used a polygraph as part of their interviews in the investigation.”

Just been catching up on this thread.

It’s frustrating as from a public point of view nothing seems to be moving in this case.

I am literally in two minds about what’s happening and I keep flipping between the two.

I can’t decide whether Canadian Police are just being very tight lipped (they are known for it) and they know exactly what has happened and progress is being made for arrests etc.

Or (they are polar opposite!)

That Canadian Police have come to a bit of a standstill on this case with no leads or evidence and the case runs risk of becoming cold.

I’m hoping the first but I’m starting to fear the latter - a few weeks ago I thought an arrest was imminent.

I also love your new badges @dotr and @tlcya you both look very important!

He must have meant in the woods but not alive.
Agree.
He did. In fact see below, bbm

That won't mean little children's live bodies. JMO

No way would little children like Jack and Lilly survive that long. Even if Lilly had taken snacks, who's to say they would have been of any nutritious quality whatsoever? And I sincerely doubt her ability to eke them out over more than a couple of days, if that. Drinking water from natural sources like a river could work, until one fell in or got really sick from polluted water (no idea how polluted or not it may be there, could even be polluted simply by an animal carcass lying in it). Plus surviving days, never mind nights, in the damp, which would make them cold. I don't see it. Sadly. JMO

Note, I don't mean that either child fell into a body of water or got sick from drinking it - just possibilities as an added danger if J and L had got as far as trying to get hold of water to drink to help them stay alive.

I wonder if the RCMP have determined they have a circumstantial case?

From the article:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova...n-lilly-sullivan-search-may-18-2025-1.7538311

“...Hansen said she wasn't aware of anything being found during Saturday's search effort. …
"We're not anticipating continuing tomorrow, but that's a conversation that has to happen with the RCMP incident commander later on in the day," Hansen said hours before the RCMP released their statement. ..."

She didn't say, “nothing” was found.

Short of literally finding either Lilly or Jack, would they sound the public trumpet and disclose if they found any evidence? Maybe “no” tangible evidence is evidence?

I’m staying positive and believe investigators know exactly what they’re doing, and they are not spit-balling.

With all the rumors and fake news that many true crime groups and youtubers vomit up (websleuths being the exception of course) I think its very smart to hold their cards close to their chests. Frustrating for us, but smart for the investigation.

Unfortunately, I think it will be a while before there is an official update to the public.

“Any of the investigative techniques that are being applied and used aren’t going to be part of any information that we release to the public at this time,” she said.”

Media link for this as well since RCMP hasn’t issued the press release anywhere other than Facebook yet

So this release says they were seen in public afternoon Thursday May 1 with family. They are asking for dashcam or video footage for April 27-May 2 though which is still an extended amount of time?
Also states they were seen in public on the first but they are only looking for video footage around Gairloch Rd
