Agreed. There is obviously no confirmation that they ever returned to their home after that sighting either.

The request for footage seems like a nothing burger. Hard to believe anyone in that area would have helpful video footage that they have just been sitting on for weeks waiting for the police to ask for it.

So, something happened to the kids between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. If this was accidental deaths and a cover up, that doesn't leave much time to dispose of bodies. Now we are back to a possible abductor.

It would be interesting to know how long the police have had the information that the children were seen in public on the afternoon of the 1st of May. Is it something recently discovered by someone sending in footage or for some reason or other the police did not want this in the public domain.

I think the police know what situation they are looking at here.
It must be frustrating for them when they have a strong idea but can't yet prove it.

perhaps the children were seen by someone on Thursday, May 1st, by someone(s) who visited the family on the property. With Lily having been sick and held home from school, along with her brother, I can't imagine they were off the property running errands or out making visits with family so it would stand to reason, to me, that the witness(es) who saw them did so on the property. JMO

The statement from RCMP doesn't specify who or how many who's saw the children with their family on Thursday, but if it were another more extended family member who saw them I would think they might say THAT, so I am assuming the witness(es) is someone NOT within the family.

What confuses me is the use of the words "in public" does that mean the kids were witnessed off of the property with their family on Thursday? I can't see keeping your child home ill and then dragging them round on errands. Particularly when it has been reported that DM is only getting approximately one day of work per week, one parent could be at home with sick child and sibling while the other ran any necessary errands JMO. Especially if Lily was still sick on Friday, enough to be kept home from school another day.

Imo they were reviewed on surveillance footage in a public location with family. I feel they purposely left out details of who and where

So this release says they were seen in public afternoon Thursday May 1 with family. They are asking for dashcam or video footage for April 27-May 2 though which is still an extended amount of time

Yes so the extended footage seems strange to me? Why would they want footage before May 1st-2nd unless they were looking for any cars / nefarious people hanging around (in the abduction scenario). Especially if they were seen in public on May 1st, why request footage from before? I always thought it likely that it wasn’t a wandering off or abduction but this says otherwise unless it’s just to rule it out. JMO.

Edited to add they could have requested the extended footage to put any suspect in a false sense of security of course. MOO.

They could have just gone to the grocery store for supplies - cough syrup, food, pullups, etc. The kids didn't seem too sick if they were playing outside anyways.

My .02 is that the sighting was confirmed via security footage and probably not a family member or friend's statement to the RCMP (i.e., if they were one of the ones interviewed by LE? ).
If they were positively sighted on May 1, imo -- LE would have proof outside of a person's recollection.

Maybe they were seen at a shop with someone in a car and want to see if that car came back home with or without kids.

Also states they were seen in public on the first but they are only looking for video footage around Gairloch Rd

A thought for the previous footage is that were seen on video somewhere nefarious - hotel, known drug area, and they want to gather what happened those few days before to view the patterns of not just the children but the “family” they were with.

Dashcam footage showing the vehicle with the children no longer in it could be very helpful at establishing a timeline and potential area to search.
