The investigation of the disappearance of an adult who has the option to take off on their own accord including death caused by suicide would be quite different from that of two missing children, ages 4 and 6 years. If this case hadn’t been considered suspicious from the get-go considering the weak and questionable lead up story stated by each of the adults, the competence of the RCMP would’ve been called into question. I don’t think anyone is disputing the fact they made the right call to involve Major Crimes from the very beginning, These detectives have specialized skills to get the story straight when interviewing anyone directly involved.

But I’ve followed too many cases where the closest male automatically becomes the most popular suspect and in several instances that’s been proven wrong,

Am fully agreeing with the bolded.
It looks as if the RCMP are not treating this as an abduction nor as a wandering.... so not that many options left.

My guess at this time is that vehicle gps or phone pings are helping them to narrow search areas ?
Again I'm sticking to what LE are doing and that's mainly it.

About the last sentence, there was a case where a young mother was killed by her best friend in order to take the baby, Heidi Brussard ?
Very sad case and many were side eyeing H.'s boyfriend.

??

I'd assumed she was staying with her family.
Omo.

Even if police told her not to speak to the media, which I don’t believe, it would simply be a matter of common courtesy for her (maybe along side her mom) to publicly thank all the volunteer searchers, the police and everyone else who’s devoted hours and hours in attempting to locate her children. Just a simple thank you to express her appreciation, only takes a minute or two.

Her continuing absence is becoming rather suspicious in itself IMO. Not only Jack and Lilly are missing but also several other key people in the lives of these children. Think what you want of DM but if not for him there’d be a blank news feed on many days.

Canadian Press, news.

I thought Canadian Press was simply a means by which the owners of it, one of them is Globe and Mail, share news stories amongst themselves. If that’s right, this could be one of the reasons why this case seems to feature so many identically repetitive news stories from different new agencies.

If she retained a lawyer, or had one assigned to her by the band, then perhaps the lawyer told her to stay quiet. As an indigenous woman, she would be aware of discrimination in the legal system and may have a distrust of the police. I cast no shade on her for staying out of sight.

None of us can know if he is lying about anything or not but I don't think the police would comment about some things DM said even if they were lies.
Give someone enough rope etc..

The police are understandably keeping things very close to their chests.

You are correct that the police would not publicly comment directly about the things that DM says, but none of the details about the disappearance that they have shared so far, have contradicted anything that DM said.

My question was mainly directed towards MBM, I should have clarified that.
Am still waiting for LE to confirm or update what's being volunteered to the media.

There’s various other means she could express her appreciation if she chose not to appear in person. She could issue a written statement or have someone speak on her behalf. We’d have to learn more of her past before automatically concluding her indigenous ancestry influences her current behavior.

Besides, this is not about her, it’s what others have done in an attempt to bring her children home to her. To express gratitude and thankfulness is not restricted due to race.

Over four weeks have passed. I really have great difficulty believing her absence/silence is a matter of personal choice, there’s a reasonable explanation that hasn’t been made public.

I had to look it up, too, thinking it was like the US's Associated Press which has member newspapers all across the country. It seems Canadian Press was similar until about 2010 when it was made a "for profit" organization and has 3 owners. Apparently the member newspapers do share the stories.

So, yes, that would account for the repetition.

Yes Heidi Broussard, horrible tragedy. Abby & Libby various suspects were dwelled upon including Libby’s stepdad, it turned out to be a stranger who was never mentioned in the media, same as culprit responsible for the murders of Alvin & Kathy Likness & grandson Nathan, nobody knew he even existed until the day he was charged.

Afew of those cases prove to me how media stories only give us a sliver of a glimpse of the situation. This case is likely even narrower still.

Just pointing this quote out as I’m sure it will get mentioned. It’s misleading as the reader is led to believe ‘fresh information’ was indeed received, maybe a confession or at least a hot tip. The RCMP did make this statement weeks ago and have searched specific areas a couple times since. This most recent search was attributed to a boot print and vague areas of interest, however the writer chose to exclude that information.

BBM
“When the first search ended on May 7, RCMP said they did not expect to find the children alive in the surrounding woods. But they said searching would resume if they received fresh information.“

this is one that's really difficult to know whether it's a mistake on the journalist's part or a change of story by the stepfather.

The journalist is not only seasoned but award-winning, who just retired to become a minister.

Sometimes wrong info also gets into stories because the editor added something wrong. Few things upset a writer as much.

Articles can be done using chatgbt or AI too . Also newspapers/ journalists rushing to break a story first can result in sloppy reporting

MBM's mother publicly accused DM roughly 24 hours after the disappearance. This was at the same time MBM left a police briefing to sit in an ambulance. She has not been back or spoken since. I believe that the RCMP were already considering this to be a "major crime" on the morning of Day #2, and that was the turning point for MBM and her mother
Was it a "you killed the children " accusation or " this wouldn't have happened if you didn't bring the kids and my daughter to live in such wilderness accusation, I wonder .

I wonder did the brother or granny have something to do with it . The brother seems quite chill on the rv in pic with stepdad

Was there weapons on the property? I'm trying to figure out why child protection felt the need to remove MM from mom's care or is that a rumour not confirmed in msm . And if true why was it deemed unsafe . Children are generally not removed from the home just because it may not meet the modern standards many of us are accustomed to and also not for Untidiness. Maybe the cabin was unsanitary?? In any pics of the family they all look clean and well groomed

“The search manager says the challenging terrain means grid searching is time consuming, and as of about 2 p.m. Sunday, searchers had not found any signs of the children.”

I’m not really surprised by this
