Tbh I wish the interview would have occurred before the updates to the fence etc
Yes I wish that too . I would also like to see where the other family members have properties on Lansdowne Road.

Can I ask Canadian posters as its been reported that not only did JM, DM and MBM have a property on the land but also other family members, do they own the land on which the property stands or does the land commission just allow them to live there. In ireland we have irish travellers, they are a minority group and often live in mobile homes or trailers as they are called in the United States but they don't own the land that they set up home on and can be asked to move on if the council requests it . Does it work like that in Canada

If timeline is correct and all 3 adults are telling the truth . I really don't see the kids getting so far as to not being found quickly enough . But there is one scenario I can think of why they may not reply to Daniel and janie loudly calling their names . They knew they were in trouble and hid through fear and with police arrival so quickly they may have become more scared to reveal themselves and ran further into the forest .

Also with the visit from cps , we can't know how the parents dealt with that re telling or not telling. Some parents will use that as leverage in keeping kids behaved in other words ' if our behaviour doesn't buck up the police / cps will come and take you . Prehaps seeing LE vehicles if they are marked with sirens etc may have frightened the kids even further . I wonder did Maleyha call out to them . I can't recall janie mentioning this .

I always try put myself in the minds of a 4 and 6 year old and how they would think and behave . Sometimes it's easy to use the logic of an adult because obviously we are but kids don't think like us and Sometimes the biggest fear and dread they have is getting punished by mum and dad or school . Their world is very small and their thought process is more linear than abstract and logical .

I really hope they are alive but I think that's wishful thinking . I don't think any of the information so far can confirm one scenario happening over another and I'm still stuck as to whether this is an abduction, murder or wandering.

I think you’re referring to First Nations land. First Nations people can live there, (on Reserves),but they do not own their house or land. MBM is First Nations, but not DM family. His mother owns their house or land the trailer is on. Nothing known about DM family. It has been said by DM that j&L have been given First Nations status but not Meadow.

I wonder where blanket was found ie Landsdowne Station rd or Landsdowne Rd? They don’t connect but both intersect Gairloch Rd. And Landsdowne rd intersects with the Pipeline cut. Sloppy journalism or correct locations? Once again is this the piece found on initial search?
I had another look at Gairloch rd… a truck flying around those curves could easily have hit the kids sending them over the guardrails and down the south side steep ravines . I remember a case of hit and run in Toronto. Person hit on 401, sent over the rails all the way down into a golf course. Not found initially because body was caught in the trees. Very sad story of the whole family’s trauma Miriam M Globe/Mail
I know LE have stated “searched everywhere”….would evidence have landed on asphalt before kids flying thru air to ravine? That ravine is closer to Landsdowne Station rd

(Not to derail the thread, but you might be confusing MM’s case with another. It wasn’t said to be a hit and run.
At a press conference Friday, Toronto police Staff Insp. Greg McLane said the cause of death was consistent with a fall from a "significant height" and that she was likely alive at the time of the fall. Police said they are not considering the case a homicide or a suspicious death. A highway overpass runs above the spot where the remains were found. )

I understand your point, though. I believe in this case the GSAR team or RCMP K9s would have found evidence, imo.

gee I didn’t know that, the rest of the family story now makes more sense.

The step-grandmother of Lilly and Jack Sullivan showed CBC News around the Nova Scotia property where the children disappeared 11 weeks ago. Janie Mackenzie and another family member say they’re frustrated with the RCMP’s investigation.

I've been up north and out east in May when the black flies are thick as syrup, and yes, folks are outside working, tending to their property, animals, gardens, whatever, covered in protective bug netting and all sorts of things. Or, with no protection at all. These folks live there, and they're used to these things.

This woman owns chickens that require daily care, year round, as she mentioned feeding them early that morning. As for her raking the night before for a pool location, I have no reason to believe she's lying about that.

I have no idea if these kids were taken, but RCMP has stated previously they don't have evidence of that. Will that change after 5000 hours of video screening? Who knows.
We can respectfully disagree, which is what Websleuths is all about. My family comes from Newfoundland and Antigonish, NS. My perspective: the images of the property from the drones 2 months ago showed dirty mattresses outside on the ground, tarps hanging off the undersiding of the trailer, an old stove, JM's trailer had a tarp covering the roof ... basically, an unkempt property that showed zero signs of gardening or care. Just because someone keeps chickens doesn't mean they're outside in their protective netting gear industriously working away. Red flags IMO: the step-grandmother invited a CBC journalist to the property 2 months after the children went missing and without any prior public interviews. IMO this is suspicious. The property tour did not look anything like it did 2 months ago -- there was fresh paint, the back deck was fixed, the yard cleaned up, a new mention of wanting a pool for the kids, guiding the reporter to the chicken coop. I find it interesting that both DM and JM repeatedly mention social media. They are following what people say and are adjusting their narrative accordingly -- hence the property cleanup and granting the CBC interview. I find it unsettling that the paternal grandmother stated she lost contact with MBM when she and the kids moved onto DM's property. IMO, when a person starts a new relationship with children from a previous relationship and former ties get cut, it is a red flag.

Well said,

AnnieOakley123

I completely agree hence the hesitation to put my thoughts to the Granny interview. The cleaning of the yard, fresh paint, the settee and flowers etc startled me with my first thought.. "all this yard work when they could have been out searching for those kids". The paint job was haphazard and hastily applied, if you'll notice especially on the green stain, the placement of outdoor furniture as if they were expecting company (maybe they were). I wondered if it wasn't a response to the negative online comments, then was it, for the custody case that may ensue for the little one. Or was it a normal reaction to seeing a photo from someone's lens and you think omg!
I don't know the answer, but suspect as Annie Oakley stated, that yard was unkempt (I would describe it as dangerous for little kids) and was probably a daily norm for them. The stove pipe in the RV window gives me concern for asphyxiation issues, but maybe unfounded as I dont know what appliance is inside.

I think the paternal Granny spoke more from the heart with honesty, but maybe the step Gran feels threatened so responds differently?
My bottom line is the cbc interview sadly wasn't done with a journalist interview, no probing questions (maybe they agreed on that narrative from the start).

My unease comes with the fixing up of the property. The preparing soil in the spring before the pool is even purchased. The lack of proper tools...?? a fan rake?? Maybe the iron one was in the shed.
Location was not in a fenced area, and not near a hose?? I do have experience with a pool. And yes, the heater was turned on May 1 every year, but the water was (shhhhhhh 95 degrees). My impression she was talking about a kiddie pool, and not an above ground one. Our gardening is started in April, but we don't have a ton of black flies this far south and no we don't wear bug protectors , only mosquito repellant hiking, at evening parties or gardening in the shade.
I'm not sleuthing the step Gran, only the videos and photos that MSM or she herself has shown of property. And yes, I do have thoughts re her, but until LE makes a statement I won't comment.

If the kids actually wandered off, or if that's still a viable theory to LE, then making the yard safe may be a crucial part of getting custody of Meadow back.

Most likely tied up there while LE was on site searching the property - just put up there to get them out of the way while so many people were there.
I thought so too. Nothing nefarious.
And then JM and DM left them up because the children aren't there to use the swings.

No, never heard of anything like that in Canada. Ireland, Scotland, England - yes, but not Canada.

First Nations are also a minority group or minority groups but whole different history from Travellers.

So the children were to be tested for autism the same month they went missing, just a coincidence I suppose.

“Now, he also acknowledges that Child Protective Services did visit the house prior to the disappearance. He says the visit was prompted by teachers who were concerned about the children's behaviour at school, and social workers wanted to meet them to see if they could get them in to be tested for autism. He says that testing was supposed to take place in May, the month that they disappeared.”

From the same link just above. So where is MBM?

BBM
KAYLA HOUNSELL: Well, not much. We have not been able to speak with her at all during the past two and a half months, which of course is her choice. We do know she left the home in Landsdowne Station the day after Lilly and Jack disappeared to be with her mother in another part of the province, but Martell says she is no longer with her mother. Her mother has told CBC News the RCMP told them not to speak to news reporters. The RCMP said it just advised people to be mindful of the information they share. And Janie Mackenzie is pleading with the children's mother to speak publicly.

SOUNDCLIP

JANIE MACKENZIE: [crying] I can't make you come out, but please if you have a heart for these kids, please come out and tell us what happened or what you think happened. Shed some light on this.

So the children mother hasn't spoken with them in 2 and half months . Very strange indeed

I’m not caught up yet, so I’m sorry if someone has already summarized the article. It’s not paywalled yet, but G&M articles tend to be so that could change. Some key points:

**the blanket was found off Lansdowne Road, less than a kilometre away from the family home.

** RCMP Corporal Carlie McCann told the media that only one blanket was located and retrieved early on in the search.

**DM previously told the Globe and mail that two parts of the blanket were found: one from Lansdowne Road and one piece from his week-old garbage. He said he told the police he believes the blanket was planted. DM did not respond to the Globe and Mail’s requests for further comment.

**The Globe and Mail asked the RCMP to confirm what DM told them, but they didn’t respond before the article was published.

** DM’s father, some of his uncles and other family live on Lansdowne Road.
Thanks, it's still paywalled for me. So technically speaking based on DM's testimony and not verified by LE, there was a fragment of blanket in the garbage from the home where the kids lived and the actual blanket was found less than a km from the kids' home which was verified by LE. And that some of DMs relatives live on Landsdowne Rd but didn't verify if the location was in references to DMs relatives.

July 18 segment on CBC's The Current about Jack and Lilly. The RCMP states again that there is no evidence of abduction. The crime reporter in Nova Scotia who has worked in many rural areas confirms she has never been somewhere as rural as Landsdowne Station. The step-grandmother who lives on the property reiterates what many of us saw in a birthday party video that Lilly is always screaming and very excitable. A silent abduction is nearly impossible to imagine. She also asserts she does not believe they are in the woods, confirming how dense the area is and that she often had to 'drag ... carry Jack' through the brush. Paternal grandmother says she has not seen the children in 2 years, around the time MBM moved in with DM on the trailer property. This is an interesting statement IMO.
The fact that the bio father abdicated his role as parent completely, meaning he doesn't have any custody rights or be liable for child support. It's done through a court order. So the paternal grandparents also lose access to the children. It's similar to putting a child up for adoption and the biological parents having no rights to access. The timing might just be a coincidence since I don't think it's been stated when the bio father walked away. I wonder if the public has access to those types of records through the FOI act in Canada.

I've been wondering if the mom didn't want them assessed, labeled, treated by outsiders but would rather hide them to "protect" them from perceived interference??? Idk.

That thought crossed my mind as well. Government forced testing could possibly pose a serious threat if inclined to believe in wacky conspiracy theories.

I'm wondering whether that visit from CPS triggered a worry that the children could be apprehended given the state of the property at the time they disappeared?
