<modsnip: Quoted post was removed due to being mis-quoted.>

Belief and evidence are 2 entirely different things so these statements are actually not conflicting at all; they are both true.

Belief is usually based on the preponderance of a multitude of factors that lead to a belief based on *probability*. "Its probable the kids are no longer living based on the collective facts."

Evidence is based on irrefutable proof. Thus far, there is no irrefutable PROOF they can take to a prosecutor or grand jury to have charges filed.

A good example is the car in the night with a loud sound unique to DM's car. Depending on the witnesses unimpeachability, maybe unreleased corroboration from elsewhere (investigative secrets), maybe other means and sources that confirm it as a habit, whatever they have *so far*, might lend a high degree of *probability* the car was driven that night. But until or unless they have the solid PROOF that will stand up at trial, it's a true statement that they "have no *evidence* to believe the car was used that night". And, yeah, they do use those words very intentionally and for very specific reasons useful to their investigation.
They aren't playing to the larger public beyond the sphere of Jack and Lily's disappearance. Generally speaking, the more they can keep certain people talking, the better, ear to the ground and all.

Hope that helps or at least is clearer than mud. 🙃

Back in the day, I had a subscription to G&M from overseas (so more expensive) because it's a good-quality Canadian newspaper (or it was, idk if it still is) and I'm certainly not part of the business sector. Just interested in well-written and well-researched articles. Anyway, I linked it this time for a different reason which I've written in post to Bigditch.

Yes G&M was always considered to take its news reporting seriously and therefore developed the reputation for high quality reporting. Back in my day when I was involved in the business sector a G&M subscription paid by an expense account was virtually considered a necessity of the job. As you say a subscription has always been quite expensive although recently the cost has been drastically reduced during promotions.

In the Oct 8th Globe and Mail article covering the results of cadaver dog searches, DM said he thinks J and L are alive, taken by someone known to MBM, and that he may know the person that has the kids.

Yes, sorry, paywalled. It seems the most fulsome reporting comes from the Globe and Mail, in my opinion.

What do you make of DM making a statement like this 5 months after the children disappeared?

IMHO
I have been fairly neutral on DM. One day I think he's involved, the next day I think he's being truthful.

BUT for some reason the statement reminds me of Casey Anthony saying Zanny the Nanny had her daughter back in the day! Perhapsy DM (if I give him the benefit of a doubt) is believing rumours on social media and it's derived from that. MOO JMO

This is new information but nothing totally surprising or revealing, who the RCMP issued subpoenas or warrants to, as approved by the court. IIRC there were 13 altogether.

The released warrant applications are for:
  • GPS tracking data, communication and other records from the cellphones of Martell and mother Brooks-Murray.
  • Video recordings from school buses operating in the area.
  • Electronic records from companies in Montreal, Toronto and Halifax whose names and purposes are redacted.
  • Banking records of Martell and Brooks-Murray.
  • TextPlus messages from May 1 and 2 of three redacted phone numbers. In other parts of the warrants, Brooks-Murray is said to have used TextPlus.
  • Video recordings from the Cobequid Pass tollbooths.
  • Closed circuit television footage from a redacted location.

"The RCMP are keeping their clues close to the vest" is a perfect ending to the article.

Interesting they wanted tollbooth camera footage. Checking to see if Jack and Lily were in the car coming back from town? I have no clue where that pass is.

The unpacked laundry bag from Wednesday while Jack and Lily were said to have been put to bed in their clothes still 2 nights later, pack and all has niggled at me. And we were told they played in dirt and dug for worms and bugs. Ugh.

I do think this tells us the direction the RCMP were looking at though. All moo of course.

I feel it is just more finger pointing in any direction but his own, something we've seen from him since day one. I find it defensive and self serving. JMO
Not like this is the only possibility in which these kids are not only alive, but also safe...

It was also the day mbm washed all of lilly and jacks clothes in her grandmothers and why the kids slept in clothing worn on the Thursday night to bed as mbm had not unpacked them . A lot happening on Wednesday the 30th ,a lot to not easily forget but yet both mbm and DM were confused over the happenings of this day According to the documents
DM sitting in the/a car during the process of washing ALL of Lily's and Jack's clothing.
How long was he sitting there?? It couldn't have been a short time, if ALL the clothing got washed by MBM/grandma. Also it seems, the clothing was even dried afterwards, otherwise the unpacked bag with clothing would have contained wet laundry. I didn't learn, that the children's clothing was still wet, when found.

Afaik, when the clothing got washed, MBM drove away with her toddler to get a new license plate for her car. Where was DM at this time?? I don't think, he suddenly drank a coffee with grandma.

Tell me please, where I am wrong with my thinking. I'm confused a bit about the course of (many!) things.

IMO sitting in car/outside could be related to his previous admission of meth use

I don’t recall the info about DM waiting in the car when they were at MBM’ grandmother’s house. Could you link the source, please?

I think it's been said previously that they wanted the tollbooth footage when they were following up on the tip that the children's father might have taken them to New Brunswick

Very perplexing, even after the warrants were executed the RCMP continues to claim they’ve found no criminal involvement and the children’s disappearance remains a missing persons investigation.

Later that month, RCMP requested all camera footage at the Cobequid Pass, the location of a toll plaza on the Trans-Canada Highway in northern Nova Scotia about 70 kilometres from the New Brunswick border, between May 1 at 2:25 p.m. and May 3 at 3 a.m.

The children were on video surveillance at the Dollarama in New Glasgow, a town about 20 kilometres northeast of Lansdowne Station, at 2:25 p.m. on the Thursday before their disappearance.

"This time frame will encompass the time frame between when they were last seen and when Cody Sullivan was confirmed to be in Nova Scotia. Footage from this timeline will assist investigators with independently verifying Cody Sullivan's statement to police and confirm Jack and Lilly did not leave Nova Scotia," writes Curl in her application.

It's not clear from the documents what the camera footage did or did not confirm.

We read in the article jack had a black eye in September and in January and lilly had one from the Wednesday the 30th of April, this is also the day the baby support payment stopped as Daniel hadn't filed his taxes on time and this date was the deadline .
When I see this note about the Canadian Child Benefit it bothers me.

CCB wouldn't have stopped right away if DM was late filing his taxes. Entailments are are determined on a yearly basis and the payment schedule runs from July to June.

I can speak from personal experience, if your late filing your taxes CCB is still deposited in May and June.

For them not be receiving the CCB in May 2025, DM's 2023 taxes would be the ones that hadn't yet been filed, and they would've been missing the CCB payments for almost a year at that point in time.

I believe this was unpacked and discussed quite extensively, months ago. Maybe someone else remembers the outcome better than I do. But I think it was a missed deadline from 2024, not 2025. This led to a whole discussion of common law marriage, which, I believe in Canadian law, DM and MBM were considered to be married under common law. For this reason, her benefits were impacted by his missed deadline.
I could certainly be wrong!

It was in the released documents.

So, DM sitting in a car while washing is done by MBM, is not wrong, but happened several times (it seems), and the days are getting mixed up.

That says “early in the week one or two weeks before”???
I didn’t say it’s accurate, just that this could be the source. It sounds like she wasn’t very clear that the last time she saw them was Wednesday, according to DM and MBM, and presumably corroborated by LE analysis of cell records. But that just me guessing.

I’m a little sceptical about that information as well. The G&M does not state a source of that info except that MBM was not interviewed so at best it has to be at least second hand info as G&M wouldn’t have access to MBMs personal banking records. That plus there’s another discrepancy regarding child support payments from biofather, whether it being paid or not.
