This reads to me as if the ‘missing persons investigation’ is looking towards the possibility the children have been taken. JMO

BBM
A day after Nova Scotia RCMP announced it was scaling back the search for two missing children, the force's command centre in a rural Pictou County community has been packed up and ground search crews have left the area…..

……Staff Sgt. Curtis MacKinnon told a news conference the active search was being "scaled back," but the missing persons investigation would continue.

"So rather than having the large presence here, the massive number of searchers on scene every day, searches will be based on information that comes in," said MacKinnon.

"We're not packing up and we're not giving up. Our investigation is broad and it won't end until we know where Lily and Jack are and can bring them home."

I take it to mean: we have no evidence to suggest they were taken and have found no evidence they wandered off, we've searched high and low and so now we will only search areas that some sort of lead prompts us to search.

What time was the 911 call made?

He did claim he was searching on his own before police arrived. Wouldn’t that be an expected course of action? IMO it wouldn’t sit right with me if he was sitting on the couch enjoying a cup of coffee while waiting for people to come and search.
I would expect him to search the surrounding area on foot, since he would expect the children to have been on foot. But he was driving the backroads and searching culverts. I am curious why those culverts were his first instinct and not the woods he and Malehya said they've taken the children back into before. Back by the cabins.

But I am not in their shoes so I know what I think I would have done but that is just me.

As I've posted earlier, if the children are not in the forest, and they were not on the road, then they must be near home.

The property has four adult occupants using one driveway: mom, stepdad, his brother, his mother. The mother and brother lived in the other trailer. What does everyone know, where were they on Friday morning, did they have any visitors?

This photo is posted upthread ... I added a yellow circle to show what appears to be a gap in the fence. The backyard of the home appears to have a fenced yard without a gate. The RV (second trailer) appears to have a completely closed fence.

This is such a wildly complex and tragic case. From the above file, key takeaways for me are that LE are focusing on specific areas to continue their searches (both ground and with divers) because of due reasons and that the stepfather has willingly been 100% cooperative, including a four-hour police statement, giving over cell phone and asking for a polygraph. These are both very interesting to me.

In response to all comments about the 16 month old toddler eating in bed with parents: the only source for that remark is the Dailymail. The Dailymail has not checked facts. It appears that the UK tabloid imagines that Canadian toddlers eat in bed.

According to the father: the child was dozing in bed.

"Their stepfather Daniel Martell told The Globe that the children were playing in the next room while he dozed in the bedroom with their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, and the couple’s 16-month-old when the children went missing."

Was the 16 month old sick also? Had she been up coughing, maybe running a fever all night?

The only mention in MSM or by LE about Martell's mom & brother is that they live on the property & Martell's mom kicked people off the property (allegedly the extended family of the children's mother) when they showed up accusing her son. Other than that, there's no further public details.

Perhaps, but the child was not eating in bed. Per the father, the child was dozing in bed with the parents when the two older children went outside.

I am glad the divers are being brought in, and I would hope that a very close look at any bodies of water has been done from the get-go! I wonder why cadaver dogs have not been brought in yet. I had read that the search dogs did not find any scents beyond the driveway, is that correct? If so, of course it would imply the children might have left in a vehicle. Haven't had time to figure out the distance from the property are various bodies of water, but I am sure LE has that aspect well in hand.

As expected the psychics, Tarot card readers and true crime channels on You Tube are having a field day with this tragic case. It will be interesting to see if any of the comments made by people claiming to be "locals" will prove true. I wonder if LE monitors comments on YT just to see what the "community" is saying about the case.
