Yes, you can imagine that being difficult, but I still find it strange that the mother is prepared to leave the area where the kids went missing, while search efforts are ongoing, even if she isn't allowed to participate or help.
I dont find it strange. All depends on the circumstances, which were not great there for the baby and mom since the children went missing, from everything I've read. No need to elaborate, just saying from all the writeups if you read them, IMO.

I agree, it’s not as if anyone expects the missing children to suddenly walk back home.

Hostile accusations are being made toward her partner potentially even by members of her family; reporters likely knocking at the door all hours day and night hoping for a big scoop; possibly curious and nosey onlookers, maybe even dangerous vigilante types around and about - this is not a situation I’d want to be around if I was her.

Allegedly she left on the Saturday when it was still supposed to be a possibility that they might suddenly walk back home though.

Wild horses couldn't drag me away from an area where my children were lost and there was still some hope that they'd be found - certainly not reporters or nosey onlookers. They'd be the least of my worries at that time.

Yes I can see your point as well. But not everyone has strength of character required to withstand a stressful situation, it causes some people to crumble especially if they’re dealing with health issues at the same time, mental or physical. If that’s the case here, she left to preserve her own wellbeing which is entirely separate from love for her missing children. JMO

If there was belief that both parents were somehow responsible the baby would be apprehended. However, and some food for thought…. If it is believed that only one parent was responsible the other would be given the choice to leave and cut contact or have their child apprehended. This may be the wild horse that dragged someone away.

I’ve got to disagree that would be a possible reason as I’m quite certain that a threat to apprehend a child would not be made based only on suspicion of guilt without criminal charges, arrest or conviction. Suspicion does not equate to guilt unless legally proven.

Im with you on that, I dont want to get all political and distract from whats important but Its not so easy to take kids away in Canada, not anymore, The truth and Reconciliation Commission changed all that. This is what is supposed to happen:

Child welfare

I wonder if they did start searching Landsdowne lake today, and if there is anything that came of that?

At first I thought the mother leaving was odd/strange. But, I now in retrospect, think it was in the best interest for the mother to leave. Not only for her mental health but for her possible safety as well.

This is the first article I have seen with reference to someone else seeing the kids alive on Tuesday.

Lilly and Jack’s seat – in the front, to the right – has sat empty, with their names still taped above it, since April 29, when Mr. Ward last dropped them off at the end of their dirt driveway after school.

Awesome find. So it does appear that last Tuesday was their last day at school or at least their last day on the school bus. My heart goes out to Lily and Jack’s friends and other students riding their bus.

The bus driver also gives some insight into Lily and Jack’s personality in the article.

“Every day this week, the children aboard the big yellow school bus peered out the window as they passed the white trailer on the side of Gairloch Road. “Have they found Jack and Lilly yet?” they asked bus driver Bryan Ward every afternoon. “Not yet,” Mr. Ward says he told the children. “The police are doing everything they can.”

I’m a foster mom in Ontario. My last indigenous training was 7 years ago (I’m due for updated training this year). I’m not totally positive on the exact rules, but I have a fair understanding of the general mentality. CAS did so much damage during the 60s scoop (along with other time periods) and caused generational trauma, with no understanding of how indigenous communities work. So now, if there’s an open child’s file that is indigenous, it’s viewed that the band is one large family. CAS has been told to divert to band leader decisions and be collaborative. Mom may have gone to the grandmothers as Nova Scotia CAS rules would dictate band involvement to keep the child.

But children’s services may not have been involved when mom left. Mom may have left due to the tensions between the grandmothers and rcmp advised her to leave due to that.

Or maybe mom left due to both factors. The band would provide emotional and spiritual support we are not lucky enough to have in our culture.

exactly and b/c of the over-representation of Indigenous children in care they now have policies around grounds for apprehension and how they are placed,
anyways the baby wasnt apprehended, so its all Moot really, but its not that easy is my point.

No! There was reportedly a confrontation at the property on the Saturday, and it made perfect sense for the mom of Lily and Jack to leave the grounds! The stepdad and his family owned or rented the property in question for one thing. People are being too quick to judge without reading and taking in all the information in various articles. I would have left also. Read post 958 for further explanation.

Just me but if I were the mother of small children who had gone missing, I would accept every media opportunity offered to me, holding up their pictures and begging for the public to look for them.

Has it been confirmed that nearby bodies of water have been searched? I am having trouble confirming this on msm.

  • #959
What would make her family believe that the boyfriend could be responsible for their disappearance?

That's a big accusation and doesn't come from nowhere.
Could her Mom be trying to take the focus off her daughter?

All I have seen on msm was the Captain stating that the next phase was the clearing of the local lake. Divers are apparently scheduled soon.
